I really wasn't excited for this movie till I saw the leaked concept art. Made me hopefull that this won't turn out as bad as I was fearing it would. That said, they're still rather early into production, so a lot could go wrong between now and January 2017. Though the Director sounds excited to be working on it, so that certainly bodes well for the movie.
One of the things I'm currently not looking forward to is Bandai's toy line. January is an odd enough choice for the movie's release, but it's even worse timing for a toy line. I'm also worried about how the toys themselves will look...

The January release date worries me. I wish that they went with a March release date instead.

I think March would be a horrible time. Way too much competition that month (Wolverine, Beauty and the Beast, and Divergent). If they delay it again, I think their best bet is April. The only real competition that month is the next Furious movie. I would say August, but with the Pacific Rim sequel slated for then, that might be a bit too close for such a similar theme. Though maybe September?

September is a dead month for movies. I used to work at a AMC movie theater for two years from 2010 - 2012 and that September is rarely busy. This movie is plan to be a big budget scale blockbuster and January hardly has blockbusters besides rare stuff like Cloverfield and Rambo 4. January is a sign to me that they don't care about the movie. I personally want this movie to be good and doe well at the box office. It would be cool if Power Rangers became more mainstream similar what happen with Marvel, Star Trek and Transformers.

We still have Lionsgate's official word that they're confident about the release date. Of course, could be PR speak, but let's hope they're telling the truth.

The Megazord and Rangers could look amazing but I don't think that would translate to the toys. It would be the typical BOA figures where the Rangers are steroid-fueled & the Megazord has missing paint applications and wrong transformation.
I don't see Bandai Japan making their own Movie Megazord figure. More likely they would sell the BOA version but with a better paintjob like Transformer figures. |

I wonder how they will pull off the special effects? I think the giant monsters and Zords should be CG while keep the human size monsters practical. I think if they got Weta or Legacy Effects to work on the movie then that would be awesome.

Still, on the bright side, the concept designs don't look more complicated than say, the movie Transformers. It's possible BoA could come up with a decent toy, and they're fully capable of it. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. That would be great!

I think Goldar, Finster, Baboo and Squatt should be done with motion capture or have them in suits. I would hate it if the movie is a total CG fest like Transformers. Power Rangers is known for it's suit work, so suits should be used in the movie.
