Aimi walks down the road in Nakano, the ward of Tokyo in which she lives. Within her arms she cradles a bag of groceries, she just coming back from doing some shopping for her mother. As she walks down the street in her neighborhood, the neighbors greet her whether they are old or young. Like a respectable girl is taught, she greets them in return with a smile, she opting for a bow of the head instead of her full body due to carrying the bag.
While walking out of the street and into a nearby park, Aimi begins to think about her life. She thinks about her friends, her family, teachers, boys that hold her interest, boys that have confessed to her, and many other people. She thinks about what university to go to since starting next year, she will now be a senior, almost ready for the world. But while Aimi does think of these things, her mind always wanders back towards the Dreamrangers. Since meeting them her life has certainly gotten busier. From them living inside of her closet, to constantly fighting, saving her, and even herself having to play nurse for them. It always making her laugh that the three mystical power wielding warriors never seem to be able to heal themselves up. But they have had rough battles, none proving more strenuous then the ones against the Nightmarerangers. The thought of those two sending a shot of fear running through her body. But through it all, Aimi knows that her meeting these three have definitely proven to be an influence on her life. She’s seen their personalities and has come to take bits of theirs’ and make them her own. Syuri teaching her to be tougher and not take any nonsense, Keiji imparting strength on her, and Paige is teaching her how to be an all around nicer person. In total, the Dreamrangers have affected her life immensely, and she is sure they will continue to do so. Aimi walks into a playground area, it being a few blocks away from home, Aimi release a sigh of relief. Once home, she’ll be able to relax in a nice bath before sitting down to a good meal. As she makes her way through the park she looks to the side, she noticing a girl walking about with bulging eyes, her face pale as parchment. After staring at the girl for a while Aimi recognizes her, her then saying her name aloud. “Asami?” Asami does not respond to Aimi, she continuing to wonder about the playground. She soon begins to stagger some, her body falling forwards before returning to an upright position. As Aimi watches, Asami walks over to a slide and begins to climb up the ladder to the top. Halfway there though Asami slips, her body beginning to fall downwards. Her body leans back and reveals a horrified face, her hands slipping off of the ladder and adding to her fall. When she hits the ground and does not move, Aimi drops the bag and rushes over to her. She takes Asami in her arms and calls out to her, she trying her hardest to wake her up. “Asami-chan! Asami-chan! Asami-chan!” She repeats over and over, the girl never responding to her, only staring at the sky with those bulging eyes, they filled with a fear that takes Aimi’s breath away. When she looks up, Aimi sees nothing, her head soon lowering to look down at Asami. ”Asami-chan, what have you seen to make you like this?” Aimi questions within her head. Aimi then stands up slowly while keeping Asami in her arms. She then runs out of the playground and into the street, she pumping her legs with all her might as she heads towards Asami’s home. While running, Aimi pleads for her to be alright with all of her might, she tearing up a bit as she looks down at Asami every so often. ----------------------------------------------------------------- In a world in which dreams reign supreme and bring joy to many, a dimension filled with all the world's nightmares look to take over the dream world, and are doing so by attacking civilians within the real world. To combat this, the ruler of this kingdom of dreams to combat the evils of the nightmares. These three will fight for the future of both their kingdom, and of Earth. These warriors are.... Ikiryō Sentai Dreamranger! *Opening theme* ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Fourteenth Dream: Enter the Dream, Mission to Return Dreams! Inside Asami’s house, she lies in her bed; she still passed out from the fall she took in the playground. Below her room on the first floor, Aimi and Asami’s mother sit on a couch next to each other, a tray containing two cups of tea sitting atop a coffee table. Aimi’s bag of groceries sitting on the floor next to the table, she having to run back to the park to receive them after bringing Asami home. “Aimi thank you for bringing Asami home. Who knows what would have happened if she was left there. Some pervert could have taken her!” “It’s no problem Misses Kobayashi. I was walking home and I saw her wondering around in the playground. She tried to climb up to the top of the slide but she ended up slipping a falling off.” Aimi explains, she smiling modestly. “You’re an angel Aimi. Your parents raised you very well.” Asami’s mother replies as she picks up her cup of tea, she taking a sip of it after speaking, she placing it above her lap afterwards. “I did notice though before and after she fell, she had this expression on her face. It was like she had seen a ghost or something.” Aimi continues. “That doesn’t surprise me.” The mother says. Taken aback a bit, Aimi tilts her head to the side as she vocalizes a question. “Why do you say that?” Misses Kobayashi takes a few more sips from her tea before placing the cup down on the tray. After doing so, she sighs some and takes a small breath, she folding her hands across her lap. “Aimi you know how Asami is an artist correct?” “Of course! The whole neighborhood does.” Aimi responds. “Then you know that she has that big exhibition soon right?” Misses Kobayasahi asks, Aimi answering with a nod of the head in a manner that says yes. After her response, the mother starts to speak again. “Well a few weeks ago Asami began to have nightmares. At first we thought they were just regular old nightmares like every child has. Well as the week went on, they become more frequent, they so bad that Asami even wet the bed a few times. My husband and I figured that she must just be nervous about the exhibition, and the stress is causing her nightmares. But then it got…frightening.” “What do you mean frightening?” Aimi asks, she understanding everything Asami’s mother has said up until this point. “They became so frequent and so bad that we started to hear her screaming at the top of her lungs. We’d wake her up, but she’d keep screaming. But then all of a sudden her art became very, morbid. She always draws such nice pictures, but since having these nightmares her artwork is nothing but grotesque images that comes straight out of a nightmare. Their either of demons, corpses, bloodied pieces of house wear or clothing, they’re just disturbing. We took her to a psychologist, but even he doesn’t know what she’s wrong. Now she doesn’t even talk. She’s either asleep and having nightmares, or awake and either drawing those morbid pictures or walking around as if she’s in a coma. I’m at my wit’s end. I just don’t know what to do!” Asami’s mother explains, tears welling up and pouring down her cheeks as she carries on. Once she finishes speaking, she buries her face in both of her hands’, the sound of her sobbing echoing in Aimi’s ears, she herself weeping a little. Aimi then leans over and wraps her arms around Misses Kobayashi, bringing her into a hug, the mother soon wrapping her arms around the teenager counseling her. As the two women embrace each other, a thought pops into Aimi’s head. After a few minutes Aimi pulls away, she staring at Asami’s mother, her red teary eyes staring back. “Misses Kobayashi, I have some friends who do work pertaining to dreams. I’m sure I could get them to take a look at Asami and maybe even monitor as she sleeps!” Aimi explains as her lips form a bright smile filled with hopefulness. “R really?!” The mother asks stunned. “Yes! I’ll talk to them later today and get back to you when something can be set up!” Aimi tells her hostess. “Oh Aimi, you truly are an angel!” Misses Kobayashi exclaims before the two women lock in another embrace. Later that night, Aimi stands at the kitchen counter inside the Dreamranger’s apartment. As she explains the situation, Syuri, Paige, and Keiji sit on the couch, they taking in all of the information being given. After Aimi finishes telling the story, Syuri stands up and folds her arms across her chest, she walking around the living room area of the apartment, she sinking into deep thought. “So what do you guys think?” Aimi asks after a while. Syuri continues to walk around the room, she eventually speaking while continuing to move. “Hmmm. That certainly is a strange case. It doesn’t sound to strange though. Children can often have nightmares that can cause trauma mentally. It could be she dreamt up something really haunting, or a repressed memory of something bad that happened worked itself into her dream. So it isn’t too strange.” “That is true, but that doesn’t explain why it increased in volume. It seems odd that if a person is having the same nightmare image for image that the person having it would get extremely upset after being just a little scared.” Keiji adds on, his voice soft but stern as he speaks. “Not to mention that while stress can cause bad dreams and insomnia, it shouldn’t be able to create a nightmare this big. Plus unless she isn’t going to sleep, it wouldn’t cause her to become pale and have her eyes bulged out.” Paiges throws into the conversation. A silence fills the room as the four continue to think the situation out. Eventually Aimi speaks up, her words bringing Syuri’s walking to a stop. “Could it…be a wraith?” Syuri stands there silent and still, her eyes as intense as her thinking process. Keiji, Paige, and Aimi stare at her as she continues to think, their eyes locked on her form. After minutes of a silence you could cut with a knife, the leader of the heroic team vocalizes her opinion, her voice coming out smooth yet a little icy. “It has to be. There is no other reason that the girl would be having nightmares so extreme in content to cause her this much trauma. Not even psychopathic criminals can produce nightmares this strong.” “But if it is a result of Jung and thus a wraith, why haven’t we seen one by now?” Paige asks in a confused manner, Keiji joining her with a soft ‘hmph’. “The only explanation is that somehow Jung was able to implant a wraith inside her head. If it’s in there it could cause more destruction then a regular one can. Aimi said this Asami is an artist correct? The wraith could be causing her so much pain with the nightmares that Asami is not only drawing out what she sees, but also possibly creating more wraiths.” Syuri explains grimly. After minutes of silence, Aimi squeaks up. “If there is a wraith inside of Asami’s mind, how would you three get rid of it?” “It’s simple; we going into her mind ourselves. Go in, track the thing down, eliminate it and get out.” Keiji answers. “You can do that?” Aimi questions shocked. “Well of course. Why do you think we’re called the Dreamrangers Miss Aimi?” Paige replies with a smile. “Aimi, contact the mother. We’ll go over tomorrow night and track this piece of shit down.” Syuri orders to her human comrade. “Yes mam!” Aimi responds before whipping out her cell phone. As she talks to Asami’s mother through it, the three rangers look at each other before giving a small nod of the head, they united in what they most do. The following night the group of four arrives at the front door of Asami’s house, her mother and father greeting them. The group walks in and converse for a bit, Syuri and gang heading up to Asami’s room after a few minutes. Aimi and the parents look at each other, the face of Asami’s mother filled with as much grief and fear as it was yesterday, Asami’s father looking calm with eyes that could make anybody melt to tears. “Don’t worry, Asami will be perfectly fine. Those three are the best people in the world who could help her.” Aimi explains to the two, her voice slow and soft. “Can we really trust them to help our little girl?” The father asks suddenly, his voice cracking a bit due to how many emotions he is keeping bottled up inside. “I give you my word that they will help her. I would trust them with my life.” Aimi says, she following it up in her head with “I have haven’t I.” After sitting with Asami’s parents for an hour and having desert with them, Aimi makes her way up the stairs and to Asami’s room. When she enters it she finds the three waiting for her, Asami fast asleep behind them. Syuri then steps forward towards Aimi, her face as serious as one could be. “Okay, Asami is asleep now. Once we are in her mind and thus dreams, we will be there for however long this takes. It is critical that nobody disturbs her once we are inside.” She explains. “How come?” Aimi asks. “We can only enter a person’s dream if they are asleep. If we’re in there and she wakes up, no matter the cause, we’ll be stuck in there until she falls asleep again. If this wraith is haunting her so bad that he can affect her when she’s awake, then we may be in serious trouble. No matter how loud she screams, no matter how hard she flails, and no matter how much you or her parents want to wake her up, you cannot let it happen. Understood?” Syuri explains carefully to Aimi, the ranger wanting to make sure that her human counterpart understands how serious the situation goes. “I understand you crystal clear Syuri.” Aimi responds, her face becoming as serious as Syuri’s, her eyes as sharp as well, the sudden seriousness getting a small smirk from Syuri. “Good.” She answers as the three walk towards Asami. Before fully there though, Syuri turns around and faces Aimi. “Oh Aimi, one more thing.” “What is it?” Syuri throws her arm forward towards the teenager, she tossing something her way. Aimi catches the object and looks down at it. Before her eyes she takes in a bottle of sleeping pills, the bottle of a fairly medium sized. Her eyes widen in shock, she lifting her head to stare at Syuri. “Whatever it takes to keep her asleep.” Syuri says in an almost grim tone, Aimi responding with a nod. Syuri then joins her comrades at Asami’s bedside, all three looking down at the child. Keiji proceeds to then place his hand palm side down over Asami’s body, Paige soon placing her hand over his, Syuri laying her hand over Paige’s. As they stand there they close their eyes, a light beginning to emanate from their hands and slowly their bodies. After minutes of this, the three warriors then turn into balls of light, each light featuring the respective color of the ranger they represent. The balls of light then fly at Asami’s head, they flying straight into it. When the three are gone Aimi looks around Asami’s room, the walls covered with her artwork, the floor and some shelves lined with books, toys, and some CDs and DVDs, a TV sitting on two stacked crates next to her desk. Aimi smiles as she looks at Asami’s room, her smile growing as she watches Asami sleep. Her head turns down though, the smile fading when she looks at the bottle of pills again, she beginning to hate the mission at hand, for to save this child, she must also allow her to go through such immense pain. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Start of commercial break ----------------------------------------------------------------------- End of commercial break ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Syuri, Keiji, and Paige walk in an open green field, a slight breeze blowing their hair back as it does to the grass. The three look around as they walk, everything seeming calm and blissful within Asami’s dream for now. The scenery strange to them for a young girl, especially considering that there is nobody in it so far except for them. However with Asami being an artist, it isn’t that strange to them. The three walk on, the scenery starting to morph into another as they do so. While it changes, the three stop and stay close to each other, they watching carefully as to not miss anything important. After a moment the new dream is in place, the three no longer in a field of green, but at a sea of blue, and a pale beach accompanying it. As they stand there and look at the sea, a sun beginning to set against the reflection of the water, Syuri speaks up, issuing a warning that also doubles as a command. “Well I think it’s safe to say she is dreaming now and apparently quite actively. I know we have a wraith to find, and that we have a bit of limited time, but we need to stick together. If we split up, who knows what will happen. We could get lost in here. Got it?” “Got it.” Keiji and Paige answer simultaneously. Syuri nods her head in improvement, the three then walking down the beach along the sea, like the field devoid of anybody or anything. Outside of Asami’s head, Aimi sits on the floor beside her. Within her hands she holds a book, she lifting her head up from it’s pages every now and then to check on Asami. When she sees that all is well, her eyes return to the book, she engulfing herself in something to keep him from worrying about Asami or her friends. It was now a little after midnight and Asami’s parents were now sleeping downstairs; they cuddled up to each other on the couch. Everyone but Aimi was asleep, she feeling a bit of tiredness herself. She closes the book and lays it on the floor and picks up a remote for the television, she turning it on and putting the volume on low, she keeping herself up with the sounds and images coming from the electrical box. Inside of Asami’s dream, the group of three walk down a street covered with the blanket of night, the only source of light being street lights. As they make their way down the streets, they notice Pugs and cats hanging all around it, the Pugs barking away as the cats move swiftly and seamlessly around, it almost creating the illusion of them dancing. While walking, Paige begins to talk. “It seems weird that Asami hasn’t had a regular dream yet. All we’ve seen so far is mostly scenery, this being the first time we’ve seen other living beings.” “It doesn’t surprise me. She is an artist after all. I’d think her mind would be filled with still images.” Keiji says, his eyes moving side to side on the lookout for anything suspicious. “I suppose so. But still, you would think we’d come across an actual dream by now.” Paige returns, she reaching down to pet a cat that has walked over to her and rubbed its head against her ankle. Keiji laughs a bit as he watches Paige’s action. “Does it really matter if she has an actual dream?” “Well we are looking for a wraith that’s causing her nightmares. So I would say yes.” Paige retorts. “How do you know it’s an actual nightmare? If we’re just seeing 95% still images, the wraith could just be showing her still images of horrific scenes. Just up how many she sees in a constant fashion and she’d easily become freaked out.” Keiji explains a slight hint of annoyance in his voice at Paige’s persistence. “Hey, you two in the peanut gallery, we have a wraith to find. So how you two just do you job looking for it and shut the-“Syuri starts to go off on the two, she being cut off as the area begins to shake. The three stop walking and back up into each other, forming a slight triangular circle to where they each can see the environment. The shaking quickly intensifies the violence of it equal to that of the strongest earthquake one could imagine. As it carries on, all of the animals that occupied the street begin barking and meowing at the top of their lungs as they bolt in all different directions. While the shaking carries on, the scene begins to slant and slowly turn on it’s side a bit, the rangers falling down and slamming into a parked car that is now situated below them. Along with the shaking and slanting, all color melts away, it being replaced with a dark tinted combo of blue and red, flashes of other bright colors popping like firecrackers. “I think we’ve entered one of the nightmares now!” Keiji shouts out as he slowly stand sup. “No shit Sherlock.” Syuri retorts as she joins Keiji in standing on top of the car. In the real world Asami begisn flailing and squirming about, she starts to moan as if she’s in pain, the volume of the moans growing as the seconds pass. Aimi’s ears register her moaning and she jumps up to her feet, she rushing over to Asami’s side. Aimi takes hold of one of Asami’s hands, she gripping onto it tightly in an attempt to help calm down. “Asami-chan! Asami-chan please calm down! It’s only a bad dream! Think of something nice and dream of pleasant things!” Aimi shouts out to Asami. The words do not reach Asami though, she continuing to moan and flail about. Inside the dream world Syuri, Paige, and Keiji bolt through a forest, the trees around them falling down at a rapid pace, some nearly missing the group of heroes. They leap over tress already fallen down as well as rocks as they make their way through the forest, they trying to escape it before being crushed to death. “This is getting intense as all damn hell!” Keiji shouts out to his teammates. “You’re telling me!” Paige shouts back, she leaping over a fallen tree before rolling away from it in a ninja roll like fashion. The three continue running forward, it becoming harder to see anything as the trees in front of them lean downwards to block them from seeing farther ahead, as well as in an attempt to block their route. Syuri and gang close their eyes and cry out as they run straight into the barricade of trees, they bursting through the like a truck driving through a house. They make it through to the other side, their faces and hands scratched up and their clothing torn some. The three continue running forward at top speed, they still propelled by momentum from their sprint through the barricade of trees. They run so fat with their eyes set forward so intensely that they fail to notice a river right in front of them. As the group runs into it, the river turns pitch black, the water vanishing. The heroes then let our screams as the foundation underneath them vanishes, they falling down into a black abyss, they flailing their arms in an attempt to grab onto anything to keep them from falling. There is nothing though, only emptiness. The abyss so black that the three can no longer see each other, they only able to hear the screams of one another. Their fall comes to an abrupt end as their bodies slam into the ground. As they moan in pain, the abyss above them closes and their new environment turns into a sphere like room. The blackness slowly starts to dissolve away, revealing that the room is colored purple and green, white splotches splattered in a few spots. Paige, Syuri, and Keiji slowly stand up, Keiji arching his back forward, Syuri stretching out her arms, and Paige rubbing her behind. “What is this place?” Paige asks, she as confused as the rest of her team. “Why this is your grave my friends. An unmarked one at that. For this is where you shall sspend the rest of your very brief days.” A familiar voice states. The three turn to face the same side of the room, Jung Moroi’s face appearing on the wall in front of them. She stares at with a smirk, her visible eye shooting daggers at the team of heroes, her gold pupil gleaming. “Jung!” Keiji growls out. “I should have known.” Syuri mutters under her breath. “Indeed you should have Miss Miyamoto. But I suppose we all lose our heads every now in then when we dream.” Jung exclaims, she producing a chuckle afterwards. Syuri brushes some dirt off of her skirt as she gives Jung a stare equal to that of deaths, her eyes gleaming with anger. “So, what’s the plan this time your royal bitchness?” “My my the mouth on that one. You should be a girl and have some manners.” “Shut the hell up Moroi! Why the hell are you here and torturing this girl!?” Keiji explodes. Jung scoffs at Keiji, her smirk fading. “Morpheus sure does like raising some rude fighters doesn’t he? No matter, I wanted to drop by and let you three know of your doomed fate anyways.” “Then out with it!” Syuri shouts. “Oh alright. No patience either. You see my friends this young girl is quite the artist. From what I monitored of her she seems to be quite famous. So I figured I’d simply give her a good old fashioned series of nightmares that are so bad that it’ll influence her artwork. She’ll draw such grisly and morbid images that it’ll strike fear in all who see them. And as we know, my little wraiths are born out of fear. She draws gruesome images, I get my wraiths. But there is quite more to this whole production, and I’m quite proud of this one. I could have picked any artist really that was famous, but yet I picked her. Care to know why? I found out that she lives quite close to that lovely little kitten you three hang out with. I figured that if I plagued this girl with nightmares so bad that it affects her everyday life, eventually she’ll cross paths with your little friend. Knowing that she’d eventually find out about her having nightmares, I knew she’d come to you. You’d charge in here like the great warriors you are and play white knight. But as we all know, you three can only come and go if she’s asleep. If she’s awake then you three are stuck here. And that my dear Dreamrangers is where my dream gets fun. I implanted a wraith inside of her mind so that it could force her into having nightmares, doozies at that. Nightmares so bad that it wouldn’t be out of the question for the girl to go into quite a state, one so bad that it would take waking her up to calm her down.” “Y you don’t mean?” Paige stutters out. “Oh I do. Bring your fools in here and then give this poor soul the most intense nightmares my little mind and pet can come up with. Ones so strong that she’ll be forced into waking up. And since this has been going on for a while, her parents wouldn’t dare let her sleep for a while, they’d keep her up. This resulting in you three being trapped in here and becoming chow for my wraith. Oh and you want to know what the kicker is? The pills you gave the girl are almost out. While you fell down that abyss I upped the nightmares so much, that your little friend was forced to go through almost the entire bottle to keep the girl asleep. I’d say you only have a few left. Well then, that was quite a lot to say. I think I shall retire to my realm now and leave you all for my pet. Tootaloo rangers.” Jung explains with a smile that would put the Cheshire cat to shame. After finishing her plan, she begins cackling maniacally as he face vanishes from the wall, she leaving the Dreamrangers brewing in intense anger. The three then hear a gargling noise behind them, they whipping their bodies around to see what is causing the noise. The ground bubbles and sinks down some as a figure rises from it, it being black head to toe. It opens it’s mouth open to reveal it’s fang like teeth, it’s eyes sunken in, little red pupils shining out some. It stares at Syuri and the others, it producing a snarl like laugh. The three look at the creature head on, their faces as serious as they have ever been. As they stare down their latest opponent, Keiji speaks up, her smirking a little at his words. “Hey, you guys feel like indulging in some anger management?” “Gladly.” Syuri replies. Syuri raises her arm up, she holding her hand in a snapping position. She then snaps her fingers, a bright gold light emanating from the three as she does so. When the light fades away, the three stand there in their Dreamranger suits. They lock eyes with the wraith clad in black through their visors, the area around them shaking some still, screams from the outside working their way into the way room. The four beings soon let out individual cries of battle, they then charging towards each other at a break neck pace. Inside Asami’s room, Aimi looks down at the girl as she screams and flails about, her flailing now more violent than ever, the girl even throwing herself up and down against the bed repeatedly, her head slamming down hard against her pillow. Outside of the room, Asami’s parents sit against the wall, their faces as pale as white can be, their faces painted with utter crushing despair. They would help their daughter if they could, but they were asked to not enter the room per Syuri’s request, she not wanting them in there and possibly waking Asami up, thus ending their “evaluation” of her. Aimi looks into the bottle of sleeping pills she was given, she only having three left, Asami’s night terrors so bad that it was taking up more then one to get her to sleep. Aimi curses the three in her head, she hating them for forcing her to put Asami through this. Aimi takes a pill out and puts it down Asami’s mouth, she then rubbing it down her neck and into her body. The Dreamrangers throws hits back and forth with the wraith, it seeming to always dodge every one of them. The wraith though continues to smack the rangers around as if it was nothing, his blows so strong that the heroes go flying into the walls of the room, it seeming to get hotter and hotter. Syuri and Paige attempt to double team the nightmarish being, but it simply waves its arm to the side, it using it’s mental ability to send Paige slamming into a wall, Syuri then crashing into Paige. Keiji watches this and in reaction clenches his fists tightly. He then lets out a roar as he runs towards the wraith, he bringing his arm back in a position to punch his enemy. The wraith simply cackles though, it throwing it’s head down to looks at the ground. Right as Keiji is about to reach his target, the floor comes alive and grabs his ankles with gooey deformed hands. Keiji moves about trying to free himself, but is not able to, the hands then dragging him down into the floor, he screaming all the while. Paige and Syuri look on shocked at what has just unfolded. In the blink of an eye Keiji has been dragged down into God knows where. As the wraith looks at the spot where Keiji use to stand, it producing another snarl like laugh while doing so, Paige screams as vanishes from sight. She appears again behind the wraith, she throwing her leg upwards, she looking to slam it into the neck of the enemy. The wraith suddenly vanishes, it appear a second later behind Paige. It snarls as it grabs hold of Paige by the chest and abdomen, it then flying up into the ceiling with her. Syuri runs to the spot where the creature once stood with her friend and comrade, she dumbfounded by how the wraith can be this powerful. Before she can think of what to do, the walls of the room move inwards quickly, they slamming into Syuri, she screaming out in pain as the crush her slowly. The room then shoots out in all directions and explodes, Syuri disappearing with it. Syuri slowly opens her eyes, she seeing nothing but a white floor, she laying face first against it. Slowly she makes it up onto all fours, she seeing that she has been forced out of her Dreamranger suit by the explosion. After a few more minutes she is up to her feet, her body as broken, bruised, and slightly bloody as always. With her area now fully visible to her, her jaw drops at what she sees. For Syuri is no longer in any room, forest, street, sea, or field. She now stands in complete and utter whiteness. She turns around in a panicked state, she trying to figure out where she is exactly within her head. However she finds nothing except white, white everywhere. Syuri’s eyes tear up some and she clenches her fists, she throwing her head up to what would usually be a sky or ceiling, she letting out a loud, agonizing scream. ...To be continued

The Dreamrangers throw hits back and forth with the wraith, it seeming to always dodge every one of them. *Opening Theme* ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Fifteenth Dream: Escape the Nightmare, Return to Reality! Syuri stands in the middle of the arena in which her most recent fight was held in, she looking out through the visor of her helmet at all of the walls, the ceiling, and the floor of it. For not too long ago had her friends been taken prisoner by the room itself, and thus by the dreams of the child they were in. She was sure it wasn’t because the child woke up, if that was the case she, her friends, the wraith, and the dream itself would have vanished into thin air, only to be seen again if the girl dreamt about it again. No, the wraith itself had taken hold of her friends; they now lost in the dreams of the sleeping girl. Where they were she did not know, only that she needed to find them as quickly as possible. As Syuri thought of what she should do next, the mind of the child seemed to grant mercy upon her. The room in which the fight had broken out melted away, Syuri demorphing back into her civilian state, she finding it unnecessary to remain in her suit. The scene taken in by her eyes turns from a bubbling mess of a room into a rocky road with mountains behind it. Syuri walks over to the edge of the road, below her quite a ways down being a small beach like area with a large river, people close to Aimi’s age partying. The sight of seeing such festivity brings a bit of a smile to her face. From out of nowhere a gust of wind slams into Syuri’s back, it catching her off guard completely and sending her flying over the edge of the cliff due its strength. After being pushed over the edge Syuri finds herself falling down through the sky almost as if she was in slow motion, the destination being that of the river when her fall is over. While continuing to fall Syuri looks at the river, it beginning to glow and shimmer with light. Her eyes widen at the sight of this, she clueless as to why this was happening. However the answer is not important, all that is important is that she is falling, the journey coming to an end as her body slams down into the river, she slowly sinking down into the river face first, her eyes blinking rapidly before slowly closing. Aimi lies in the bed with Asami, one of her arms wrapped around the small child. Aimi remembered that when she would have bad dreams as a child that her mother would crawl into bed with her, she staying with her until she had fallen into a peaceful sleep. She thought if she lay with Asami she would calm down like she did with her mother a child. It seemed to have worked, Asami now sleeping peacefully. She knowing though that it wasn’t bound to last, for at any minute a new nightmare could start up and send her into frenzy. Even more worrisome was that it was nearly morning, 5:25 AM to be exact. Aimi was told that Asami’s alarm goes off every day at 7:00, meaning that her friends only had close to an hour and a half left to take care of the wraith. As Aimi’s eyes start to flutter some, they sore from being up so late, Asami starts to moan a bit, an indication that she may be about to have another nightmare. Aimi snaps to attention, she moving closer to be against Asami, trying to comfort her as much as possible. She wasn’t sure what was taking the Dreamrangers so long, but she was filled with fear that this night may not end well at all, and could in fact become a true nightmare. Light shines against Paige’s face, it so strong that it forces her to slowly open her eyes, she then covering them immediately with a hand so that her eyes are not burnt away. As she shields her eyes from the sun she looks around, she seeing nothing but flowers of various shapes, sizes, and types. She then slowly sits up and due to being out of the sun’s rays uncovers her eyes, she realizing that she is sitting in a field filled with flowers. The sight of this brings a smile to her face, the scene in which she sits being utterly perfect to her, it filled with so much beauty. A pink butterfly flies over to Paige as she continues to sit in the field, she instinctively holding out a hand with her index finger pointed out, the butterfly landing on it and staying there. Her smile grows as this occurs, the butterfly flapping its wigs as it sits against her finger. Like a command was given, hundreds of butterflies fly over to Paige, she smiling widely and even laughing some as they all fly around her, she believing this to be a scene straight out of a movie. While they fly around her, Paige notices that there is a wasp among them. She bats an eye at it though, she too enthralled by the majesty of the butterflies to care. Paige starts to bat an eye though as all of the butterflies turn into wasps, each one buzzing angrily as they fly around her in frenzy. Paige looks around as her facial expression turns to one of shock, it soon becoming one of terror as she feels one stinging the back of her neck. With that, the wasps turn into a sting ball of chaos, each one sinking their stingers into every open area of her body. Her legs, hands, neck, and face all becoming victim to their attack. As they continually sting her, Paige’s body begins to swell up, it becoming bigger and bigger. Soon her body is an inflated mass of red puffed up skin, her clothes enlarging with her. The sun then moves down to where Paige is once again staring right into it, the light so bright that it slowly burns her eyes away, they melting down her face. Once her eyes have melted, a wasp delivers a sting that causes her body to explode, bits of clothing and flesh flying across the field. Where she once sat now lays a pink butterfly, its wings broken off of it’s body. Keiji walks down a dark corridor, a few candles placed against the walls to aid him somewhat in where he is going, the flames creating a slight ambiance to the tight corridor. As he walks along the path, her hears a small sound akin to the voice of a young child, he using that as a guide of where to go, he venturing in any direction he believes the noise to be coming from. Whenever he passes a candle, its light goes away, the darkness trying to take him in. Keiji keeps moving on though, he not letting the darkness catch up to him. As Keiji walks around more, the voice gets more audible, it slowly gaining in volume with every step he takes. Slowly Keiji goes from a walk to a run; the now clearly audible and loud voice of the young girl drawing him like a lighthouse draws in ships at sea. He continues to run more and more, he finally hitting a dead end. But it isn’t a true dead end, for instead of a wall sits a door. Keiji stares at the door confused until the voice starts up again, it coming from the other side of the door. Keiji grabs hold of the doorknob, he looking down at it with eyes filled with confusion and worry, he almost afraid of what lies beyond the door. He takes a deep breath though and slowly turns the knob to the right, he then pushing it open. Once the door is open Keiji is met with a white light that is almost blinding. He shields his eyes, but it still isn’t enough to fully shield him from the light. Keiji then sighs and takes another deep breath before walking through the doorway, the door closing behind him. He stands there in the light, he unable to see anything from how bright it is. All he has is his ears, he focusing as hard as he can to pick up any sound to give him an idea of where to venture next. Keiji though soon feels a hand come down against his shoulder gently, it pressing the material of his jacket down against his skin. As he feels this, a familiar voice works its way into his ears and brain. “Keiji?” Syuri says softly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Start of commercial break ----------------------------------------------------------------------- End of commercial break ----------------------------------------------------------------------- After taking in Syuri’s voice Keiji turns around and unshields his eyes, they then becoming filled with the image of his teammates. Along with them comes a new backdrop, he no longer in a blinding white room but in a black one. While it is pitch black, the three remain fully visible to each other, almost as if they were radiating light. “Syuri…Paige.” Keiji says, his mouth forming a small smile at the sight of his friends. “Yes Keiji, those are indeed are names.” Paige responds with a gleeful smile. “It’s great to see you again too.” He shoots back sarcastically with a small chuckle. “Right back at you tiger.” Syuri finishes off with a wink. “What happened to you guys? Is the wraith gone?” Keiji asks in succession. “Well after you got dragged down into God knows anywhere, Paige and I tried to fight back. Unfortunately he took hold of Paige and made off with her.” Syuri explains. “I ended up waking up in a field, but the wraith wasn’t around. I don’t really remember anything from when we disappeared. I guess it just left me there and ran off.” Paige throws in. “I stayed in the room until melted away. I then got pushed off of a cliff and fell into a river. When I came to, I was standing in that bright room. After a little bit I found Paige and then you.” Syuri continues. “While I was in the field I was attacked by wasps until I exploded. I woke up in here after Miss Syuri kept kicking me in the side with her foot.” Paige states, she giving Syuri a bit of a dirty look. “Hey calling your name didn’t work. So I went with a more forceful technique.” “Yeah well your little technique bruised a rib I think.” Paige throws back. The three then laugh all at once, they enjoying their reunion in a fashion that one could say is typical of them. After they laugh for a bit, Syuri turns to Keiji again, she speaking up and questioning him. “So Keiji, what about you? What happened after you got dragged down through that crap?” “Well I came to lying in a corridor lit by candles. I started walking down it without a single clue of where I was going. Then I heard this voice, it was like that of a little girl. So I ended up following the voice until I found a door. When I walked through it, I was in the room you two seemed to be in as well. Other than that, I’m not really sure.” Keiji explains as he crosses his arms. “Do you think this is the work of Asami or of the wraith?” Paige asks of her comrades. “I wouldn’t know who to put it on. Asami has put us into some really random places while we’ve been here, so I wouldn’t put it past her to dream up what we went through. On the other hand, that wraith could be behind it also. We know Jung wants to trap us in here, so maybe this is the wraith’s way of making sure we don’t escape.” Syuri thinks aloud, he teammates watching her as she speaks, they hanging onto every word. “But it seems like each of the experiences we had after being separated was meant to bring us all together. Why would the wraith want to do that? We’d be able to work as a squad again and either track it down quicker, or vacate Asami’s dreams. No, I think it was Asami who did this. Maybe she’s aware of our presence and is trying to lend us a hand.” Keiji rambles on. “Speaking of Asami, how much longer do you think we have?” Paige asks of the two. “Not much longer would be my guess. I say we double our combined efforts and track down that little pest as quickly as possible. The faster we find it, the faster we can eliminate it.” Syuri replies. Keiji moves to where his back is to the women, his eyes widening a bit with a smirk becoming painted across his lips. As he speaks his voice oozes with ironic delight. “Guys, mission complete.” Syuri and Paige then move to see what Keiji is looking at, all three now face to face with the wraith from before, it snarling and snickering at the three. All three Dreamrangers then share the same smirk that Keiji had once he laid eyes upon the beast. “Well then, this makes our job supremely easy.” Syuri states with pure joy in her cold tone, he eyes shooting daggers towards the enemy. “Round 2, ding ding.” Paige says as she rings an imaginary bell. White, pink, and blue light surrounds the three and flies onto their bodies, it forming their respective suits. Once clad in them, the three then spin around in unison, only stopping to look straight at this creature in front of them. "Providing a shield from all nightmares to let dreams flourish. Ikiryō Sentai Dreamranger!" The blackened beast then snickers some more as it disappears in a flash. The three rangers stand in a circle of sorts, they waiting for the beast. It comes from below, it bursting out through the ground, it ready to attack. The rangers were ready too though, Keiji and Paige whipping around and delivering twin punches to it’s stomach, the impact sending it staggering towards Syuri. Syuri then moves out of the way a bit before delivering a kick to the side of it’s head, she following up with a jumping spin kick that sends it flying off some. It soon stands up with the heroes staring it down. The beast then starts laughing crazily, the rangers now curious to it’s joy. It soon becomes apparent as it slams its fists together, the area around them flashing rapidly with different nightmarish images of violence, perversion, and many more twisted images. Along with the almost strobe like assault of images comes a shaking equivalent to an earthquake, the four struggling to hold their ground. “Don’t tell me…” “It’s being a sore loser!” “It’s trying to wake Asami up and take us with it!” In the real world Aimi stands over Asami, the child flailing about as she was earlier, but this time even more violently, and loudly. She screams as if she was being stabbed slowly, her eyes flickering open and shut as if she was about to wake up. The sight of this child’s torture breaking Aimi down until she is a sobbing mess. Along with that, Asami’s parents seem to have been disturbed as well, they banging away on the door to their daughter’s bedroom, they demanding to be let in. Aimi moves like a cat and locks the door, preventing the two adults from entering. “LET US IN!” The father shouts commandingly. “PLEASE LET US IN AIMI, LET US SEE OUR BABY!” Her mother follows up. “I’m sorry, but I can’t! I was told to not let you two in until they were done!” Aimi shouts back, she obviously upset from what was happening to Asami. “PLEASE AIMI PLEASE! ASAMI! ASAMI!” The mother continues to shout as she pleads with the teenager, the teenager sitting against the door as she clasps her hands against her head as she continues to cry crazily. “Syuri, Keiji, Paige, hurry up, please hurry up!” Inside of Asami’s mind the three continue to fight the wraith fiercely, each warrior wielding their signature weapons, the wraith’s arms now in the form of two axes. While they fight the world around them starts to shake even more violently, the imagery of the nightmares flickering through it all. Along with this the environment begins to crack and break away, white light shining where part of the environment once was. “The kid is starting to wake up!” Keiji shouts out to his fellow fighters. “No shit Sherlock!” Syuri shouts back. Keiji then goes to stab his Dream Trident through the wraith’s mid section. It is too quick and dodges the attack, it delivering one of it’s own, it’s right arm slashing upwards, the axe blade tearing into Keiji’s suit. With a cry of pain Keiji goes flying across the arena, he heading straight through one of the voids that have started appearing. Syuri blocks a strike from the wraith, she then noticing Keiji. “KEIJI!” She cries out, she then vanishing into thin air. Right as Keiji is about to make a connection with the void, Syuri appears and slams into in to him in a tackle like fashion. The two fall to the ground and roll away from the void. Once out of harm’s way Keiji picks his head up and turn to look at Syuri. “Thanks.” “It’s what I do.” Syuri answers with a chuckle. Paige soon joins the two as she lands back first on the ground, her helmet sparking from where she was the receiver of a ferocious punch. “This thing just won’t stay down!” “We’ve noticed.” “Any ideas?” “Well considering we need something to put it in it’s place, as well as do it quick as shit so we can get out of here, I’d suggest the DreamCannon.” Keiji replies to his commander’s question. “That would be fine with me.” Paige follows up. “Then let’s pick our sorry asses up and use it!” Syuri shouts at the two, the three then jumping to their feet. *Cue Dreamranger theme* The wraith then watches on as the heroes of Morpheus put their weapons together, Paige it out sideways in the air. Keiji then placing his trident on the top side of the handle. Syuri then flips the blade back up to lay against the barrel of her blaster. She places it on the bottom of the handle. Syuri then takes hold of the handle of the DreamShooter. Keiji and Paige grabbing hold of her shoulders'. Once the weapon is complete and the three are aligned to unleash their ultimate attack the wraith lets out a fierce roar as the dream continues to break away as Asami begins to awaken, the creature running towards the three. "DreamCannon, BLAST OFF!" The three rangers shout, Syuri slamming her hand against the trigger on the handle of the DreamShooter. Once she does so, a torrent of blue, pink, and white energy shoots out of all three weapons, it combining into a stream like ball of energy with lightning around it. The wraith and the ball of energy fly towards each other, they on an obvious collision course, the Dreamrangers only hoping that this attack will work. The ball then flies into the creature, it coming out of it on the other side. The attack seems to have not phased the wraith at all, the three standing there in utter shock and fear at what has happened. The black wraith runs right up to them but stops suddenly. Syuri, Keiji, and Paige then stare on as it’s body begins to bubble and contort, it then exploding into pieces, the DreamCannon’s attack simply taking longer to effect the enemy than normal. They let out a cry of happiness as one. “DAMMIT! GODDAMMIT!” Jung shouts out in her throne room. “Those fucking Dreamrangers foiled another one of my plans. And now they’re going to escape. Dammit, fucking dammit!” She screams, her voice so loud and suddenly high pitched that it breaks the windows of the rooms throughout the castle and even some of the other buildings in the nightmare realm. The three rangers then stand as one, the dream nearly gone, they only standing on a small piece of blackness. “Let’s get the hell out of here!” Keiji shouts out. “Like now!” Paige follows up. “Then off we go! Sayonara you shithead wraith and nightmare!” Syuri finishes. The three then place their hands together as the land they stand on begins to crack. Their individual colors of light then shine around them as bright as the sun shining on a new day. The lights flinging the three off right as the place where they stood vanishes into thin air, thus signaling the end of the dream and that of Asami’s waking up. Asami’s body jerks upwards into a sitting position, her body drenched in sweat. Aimi rushes over to her as she sits up. Right after Asami sits up white, pink, and blue lights shine around her, the Dreamrangers flying out of her body and tumbling to the floor, they rolling against it before slamming against a dresser. The three lay there in their civilian forms, they rubbing at their bodies in pain. “Damn that was a close one.” Keiji murmurs as he rubs the back of his head. “YOU GUYS!” Aimi shouts over to her friends. “Oh, hey there Aimi.” Syuri replies as Aimi and Asami stare at the group of heroes. At that moment Asami’s door bursts open, her father slamming into it shoulder first, he and her mother bursting into the room. Once inside of the room the two look around it, their eyes taking in Aimi, Keiji, Syuri, Paige, and finally Asami. At the sight of her parents, Asami shouts their names in relieved joy. “MAMA! PAPA!” She jumps out of the bed and runs into her parents, she hugging their knees tightly in tears. In response to this, both the mother and father move down to join her in one big hug, all three of them in tears. Aimi and the rangers watch on, each one smiling brightly at the image before them, Paige and Aimi in tears from the sight. After a bit, the mother looks over to Syuri and gang. “Is she going to be okay?” “Oh her? Yeah, she’ll be fine.” Syuri says as she walks over to the huddled group, she moving down onto her knees as she speaks warmly, she giving Asami a warm smile. Asami returns the smile and latches onto Syuri in a hug, the white warrior hugging her back as everybody watches on. After leaving Asami’s house after they were treated to breakfast, the Dreamrangers and Aimi walk into the ranger’s apartment, each one equally tired. “I’m glad that’s over.” Paige states. “Me too. Hopefully Asami can sleep in peace now and go about her normal day.” Keiji adds in, his words getting a smile out of everybody. A ringing then begins to come out of the laptop on the coffee table, it alerting the group to a call. They slowly make their way over to it, Aimi and Paige sitting on the couch, Syuri and Keiji on the floor. Syuri answers the call, Dr. Edogawa appearing on the screen, he looking excited, tired, and a little scared. The mix of emotions painted across his face causes Syuri to furrow her brow a bit. “What is it doc?” She asks. “Syuri, Keiji, Paige, I got it!” He shouts to them. “Got what?” Syuri responds. “I got them! I know who they are! I know exactly who the Musashi brothers are!” ...To be continued ----------------------------------------------------------------------- *Ending Theme* -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lighting slams down against the ground all over a quarry. Before the three Dreamrangers can register the event, they are repeatedly struck by black flashes, they being slashed at with blades, as well as punched and kick. The frequency of hits causing them to drop their weapon, they screaming out as they are hit.
The attacks stop, the rangers standing there, their suits sparking, they blackened by the blows. However before they can do anything, a wave of black and red energy entwined with lightning slams into the three, causing an explosion. The force of the blow and explosion sends the three high into the air, they flailing about as the scream in agony. They slam against the ground, their bodies twisting and contorting in agony. The force of the impact so powerful that it forces them to change back into their regular forms, their bodies blackened, each ranger’s face bleeding, as well as their hands. Their clothes torn to shreds some, revealing even more damage. They look ahead, trying to see through the smoke, they determined to see who did this. Keiji and Paige don’t last though, and pass out shortly. Syuri stays conscious long after to see the smoke clear. As it clears, and she takes in the image in front of her, her eyes widen in horror. Before her stand two men, suited in armor similar to their own, but darker in color, and with more armament. Syuri tries to speak, but her body gives out, she slipping into unconsciousness. As she does so, the men vanish in a burst of black light “Who…who are you!” After a moment, the voice of the one clad in red appears, he answering Syuri’s question. “Shingai Gundan Nightmareranger.” --- The two then crouch back some as the fighters of Morpheus watch. Red Nightmare moves his arms back to where the two hooks of his blades are locked together, red and black energy beginning to form around them as well as himself, he growling as he charges dark energy. As he does so, Black Nightmare holds both of his sickle blades in his left hand as he crouches down more, white and black energy forming around him and his weapon just like his partner. The two continue to gather energy, the Dreamrangers trying to crawl away or even stand. “NIGHTMARE RAZOR WIND!” The two fighters shout out. They then push their bodies forward and release their weapons, they spinning violently towards the group of Dreamrangers. After a while the blades slam into each other, forming a circular almost cyclone blade of black, white, and red energy, lightning cackling around it. The attack then slams viciously into the Dreamrangers, the impact sending them flying into the air as well as causing the area around them to burst in an explosion, the grounds, trees, and nearby cars exploding with them, leaving a good sized crater where they once laid. The weapons of the Nightmarerangers soon return to them, they placing them on their backs. The two then turn to walk away, the Dreamrangers slamming into the ground as they do so. The three forcefully are changed out of their suits due to the attack and impact of landing on the ground. The three lay there a broken and bloody mess, the red liquid oozing out of their skin profusely. The Nightmarerangers start to walk away, their ears being filled with the sounds of agony they brought upon the civilians and the rangers. As they continue to walk, Syuri makes her way out of the crater; she soon followed by her teammates. With what little strength she has left, she lets out a scream towards the men who have brought her into this condition. “J J JUST WAIT YOU TWO!” The two men then stop. “What is it you pathetic woman?” Black Nightmare asks annoyed. “I I WANT TO KNOW…WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TWO!” Syuri screams at the Nightmarerangers, her voice hoarse but filled to the core with anger, her two comrades looking on. “Why should we tell you?” Keiji manages to make it onto his knees a bit, he supporting himself with his bloodied hand being placed on the ground. He then speaks up, his voice hoarse and pain filled. “Shouldn’t we get to know the names of our assailants? Or do you two not have enough honor to do that!” The Nightmarerangers go deathly still at Keiji’s words, Black Nightmare clenching his fists violently in reaction. The two then look at each other, giving a slight nod to the other. They then relax their arms, their suits exploding in black energy. With their suits gone, the two men are revealed. Each one wearing a kimono of the same base color and design, pure black with Red featuring red design work, White featuring white coloring. Nightmare Red is tall, his hair long and tied up into a slight ponytail. Nightmare White has short yet long hair, his head wrapped in a white headband. The two then turn around to face the Dreamrangers, revealing their faces. The three look on in shock, they seeing how young the two look, with Red having some lines along his eyes. After minutes of silence, the two speak up. “Red Nightmare, Kusunaki Musashi.” “Black Nightmare, Jūbei Musashi.” --- They then witness the Nightmarerangers spreading their arms out to the side, their voices then being clearly audible to the three. “NIGHTMARE RULER!” They begin, Red and Black then throwing one arm up into the air, the other to the ground. “RISE!” After their shouting out, the area becomes as dark as night, the clouds becoming an ominous hue of black, purple and green, the ground becoming foggy. The ground then begins to glow dark red, it soon splitting open in a wide circle before the giant known as Dream Ruler. Inside the cockpit, the Dreamrangers look on in shock as two mechas fly out from the hole, one a red dragon roaring to the high heavens. The other mecha is that of a regular robot, it colored black and white just like its pilot. As the two beasts fly into the sky, Red Nightmare and Black Nightmare jump into the air, they flipping as they ride the air over to their respective mechs, they then phasing down into them. After flying high enough, the robot spins its body around to face Dream Ruler. Its head then folds down into it’s body, the dragon then wrapping it’s body around the robot, it placing it’s front claws to two back of itself to reveal two connection points. The head of Nightmare Dragon then folds itself down onto the chest of Nightmare Warrior, Nightmare Ruler’s head then sliding up to reveal itself. The wings of the dragon then spread outwards against the back of the now almost complete giant robot. Nightmare Dragon’s legs then separate themselves from the dragon’s body, the sliding into the connection points that rest where Nightmare Warrior’s legs use to be. The talons of the feet raise up, two robotic legs then sliding out form where they use to be. The dragon’s tail then shoots off of Nightmare Dragon’s body, it flying over to, and then connecting to the right arm of the robot, thus completing Nightmare Ruler, it's eyes glowing dark red. “W what is that thing?!” Keiji questions, his voice filled with fear. “This my dear Dreamrangers is our special friend. Behold, Nightmare Ruler!” Kuzunaki informs them. --- "DREAMCANNON, BLAST OFF!!" The three rangers shout, Syuri slamming her hand against the trigger on the handle of the DreamShooter. As she does so, a torrent of blue, pink, and white energy shoots out of all three weapons, it combining into a stream like ball of energy with lightning around it, it racing like a speeding train towards the Nightmarerangers. “NIGHTMARE RAZOR WIND!” Kusunaki and Jūbei cry out in unison. They then push their bodies forward and release their weapons, they spinning violently towards the group of Dreamrangers. After a while the blades slam into each other, forming a circular almost cyclone blade of black, white, and red energy, lightning cackling around it. The blades tear through the air, they heading on a collision course with the attack the Dreamrangers shot off. The two attacks slam into each other viciously like colliding cars. Each attack power struggles against the other, the Nightmarerangers’ attack pushing towards the Dreamrangers at some points, the Dreamrangers’ attack pushing towards the Nightmarerangers at some points. As the two energy attacks fight against the other, they begin glowing intensely, multi colored lighting slamming down to the ground around it and the two ranger teams. After minutes of struggling against each other, the two energy attacks combine into a multi colored energy sphere, it exploding immediately upon creation. As it explodes, it sends out a giant shockwave of multicolored energy out in all directions, it tearing through the environment. The shockwave soon slams into both the Dreamrangers and the Nightmarerangers, causing immediate explosions upon collision. --- “Syuri, Keiji, Paige, I got it!” He shouts to them. “Got what?” Syuri responds. “I got them! I know who they are! I know exactly who the Musashi brothers are!” At the sound of what the good doctor has just said, the eyes of Syuri, Keiji, Paige, and Aimi widen, each one then forming a face filled with serious, they leaning in a bit to show that they are fully ready for the information about to come. *Opening theme* ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Sixteenth Dream: Revealed, The Tale of the Musashi Devils! “Get on with it then doc. What’s the scoop on those bastards?” Syuri commands, her voice as stern and cold as ever, it having a bit of anger to it from the subjects of the conversation. “Are you sure you guys are ready for this? It’s a long story.” Edogawa asks of his fighters, he wanting to prepare them for the time they were about to spend to learn of their strongest foes. “Of course we are.” Kieji responds in a manner that comes off as very aggressive. Though to everybody, it is understandable due to the situation. “The Nightmarerangers have proven to be our strongest adversaries. Perhaps if we knew about them we’d be able to formulate a way to fight back against them. Maybe even get a win over them.” Paige explains, she trying to make sense of how dire the information the doctor holds could be. Dr. Edogawa looks down and off to the side, he contemplating whether or not he should tell the Dreamrangers or not. Syuri then moves closer to the computer some, her action catching the rangers and Aimi off guard. Feeling eyes staring at him Edogawa lifts his head up to look at Syuri, her facial expression one of quietness. When she speaks to him, her voice becomes smooth and soothing, a hint of desperateness in it. “Dr. Edogawa, please tell us about them. We don’t need to know, we have to know.” Edogawa releases a sigh before taking a deep breath. When he releases it he nods his head towards his audience. “Alright, I’ll tell you all then.” The Dreamrangers and Aimi nod their heads in response, each one sitting as comfortably as they can for the story they were about to hear. The room stays quiet for minutes, the only sound audible being a clock ticking and tocking. Eventually Edogawa speaks up, his voice steady and serious. “Kusunaki and Jūbei Musashi were born in 1735, they being descendents of the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi. They, along with their parents lived with a small city that was occupied by other Musashi clan members, with the city itself being in the Kyoto region. As the two brothers grew older they were trained by their father to be samurai, just like most of the men in the city and clan. By the time they were 15 they were touted as being some of the best warriors within the clan. When they were 20 they helped bring the clan to the forefront, so much so that the emperor hired the Musashi clan to train his royal army, and even brought some of them in to be members of the army itself, the brothers being scouted as being generals. The Miyamoto clan while small became recognized within the nation with this news. They of course had rivals in other clans, but no clan that went head on with the Musashis came out alive. The brothers themselves gained a reputation of being the deadliest men on the battlefield, it almost as if they had thrown away their humanity to fight as hard as they did. They soon gained the nickname of the Musashi Devils due to this. With the clan being hired by the emperor, and their reputation growing by the day, Kusanaki, Jūbei, and the Musashi clan itself was on the forefront of becoming one of the most dominating clans in Japanese history. *Music Cue* However, a tragedy soon befell the clan almost as if it was from a Greek Tragedy. In the middle of the night in fall, the brothers woke up to screams that they had only heard when they had killed somebody. The two immediately went to investigate, they finding everybody within the clan slaughtered. Fearing for the life of their parents, they returned to their home and ran through the place, hoping they’d find their mother and father still alive. The brothers found them alive, but upon seeing them, the parents were slaughtered before their eyes. The killer then vanished into the night, the brothers unable to track them. When it came to trying to figure out who did it, they came to the conclusion that it was the Harunobu clan that committed the act. They were the clan that was originally suppose to work for the emperor, and so the brothers assumed that this was their way of paying the Musashis back, as well as try to retake what was originally theirs. Specifically, they believed it was a samurai named Ekei Harunobu who did it. Rumors were circulating that he was trained in the art of ninjitsu, Kusunaki and Jūbei believing that it must have been him due to how quickly the assailant vanished. A few nights later, Jūbei and Kusunaki stormed into a Harunobu ran city where Ekei was living. In that one night the two young men lived up to their reputation of being devils, they brutally wiping out every Harunobu clansman they found, they even butchering the children they found as their own young Musashi members were. They soon came to Ekei’s home, they outdoing themselves with how monsterous their slaying was. The two burnt Ekei’s daughters alive and forced the mother to eat the remains before forcing her to commit hara-kiri. Under the idea that Ekei was hiding somewhere, the brothers set fire to the city, virtually wiping it off the map. The emperor soon found out about this and summoned the two to his palace. The two were then shocked when they arrested upon being sighted. The emperor informed them that at the time of the Musashi massacre, Ekei Harunobu was with him in court and thus could not have committed the attack. Ekei then told the brothers that his clan would have never performed such an atrocity over losing their spot. He felt dishonored, but knew that attacking the Musashi clan would truly dishonor him in the eyes of his emperor and would have been killed for attacking a governmental family at that point. Due to the nature of the crime, and because of the fact that they had virtually wiped out an important city to the government, Kusunaki and Jūbei Musashi were executed a week later in the imperial city in front of a crowd, their remains later burned, just like they burned the city they attacked.” By the time Edogawa had finished the tale it was now night. Syuri, Keiji, Paige, and Aimi sat there in silence, their faces conveying shock at the horror they had just heard. Keiji soon became the first to speak after Edogawa had finished his voice shaky and filled with confusion and fear. “W wait a minute. If they were killed, then how come they’ve been here, kicking our asses?” “I wondered about that as well. However it is my opinion that Jung has probably brought them back to life for the purposes of using them against you. It isn’t fully out of the realm of possibilities; after all, Jung has revived the dead before.” The doctor explains. “But why send them after us? If she wanted to defeat us with a powerful force, then she could have easily created one. So what would be the point in bringing two dead samurai back from the dead?” Paige questions, she like the rest of the team confused now as to the reason for the Musashis being here. “Agreed. They even said they wanted to kill us. I know we hear that all the time, but the way they said it was almost like it was their lifelong mission to do so.” Syuri throws in. “Jung is the only one who knows. And I find it doubtful that she’d be willing to tell us. All we know for now is their history and that they want to eliminate you all.” Aimi chimes in, her voice calm but chilling in it’s delivery. “Indeed, and perhaps that is even more fearful then their history. Killers with no motive is all the more frightening, especially in the case of these two.” Dr. Edogawa explains. The four in the apartment then lean back some in an attempt to relax, their minds now filled with images of what Kusunaki and Jūbei had done not only to them, but to an entire clan. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Start of commercial break ----------------------------------------------------------------------- End of commercial break ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The Nightmare realm illuminates with repeated strikes of lightning, an acidic rain pouring down on the inhabitants of it. Like many a stormy day, the castle sits in the middle of this hellish world, it standing in the middle of the chaos. Also like many days, Jung Moroi sits in her throne room. The queen of nightmares sits there with her two warriors Kusunaki and Jūbei Musashi kneeling at her feet, her loyal servant Raison standing behind them. Jung stares down at her strongest fighters, she grinning ear to ear, her visible eye gleaming with ecstatic delight. “You boys truly are the only ones I can rely on to put the hurting on those annoying Dreamrangers. True other wraiths have come close to doing the deed, but none ever more closely then you two. Sure they took a bit out of you in your last encounter, but from what my scouts told me you two were still standing while they way laying broken and beaten. Jūbei, Kusunaki, I truly love you from the bottom of my heart.” Jung states to her two warriors, her voice as seductive and icy as it usually is when she is speaking to the young men. “We are pleased to have made you happy Lord Moroi.” Kusunaki replies, his head like his brother’s bowed as they continue to kneel towards their queen. “It is truly an honor to serve you.” Jūbei adds in to the words of his brother. “You two flatter me so much. But it isn’t hard to see why. After all, I am the one responsible for your resurrection.” “And we are still truly grateful for that.” Kusunaki answers to his queen. “As you should be. For if I had not revived you, and then you could not exact your revenge. That Morpheus may come off as a divine and heavenly being that would never hurt a fly, but it’s only an act. He’s truly a bastard of a being. Who else would order his soldiers to wipe out an entire clan just because there was nothing better to do? Morpheus is the one who sent the Dreamrangers down to Earth to slaughter your beloved family. He had nothing to gain by doing it. He did it because he could; it’s as simple as that.” Jung carries on, her voice becoming more serious and hatred filled as she continues to speak to the two brothers. “Do not fret Lord Moroi. We’ll show him how weak his precious Dreamrangers are. We will show him that nobody can escape punishment and that everybody must pay for what sins they commit. We will make he who is stronger than God weep with sorrow as we destroy his most precious things!” Jūbei states in an almost sadistic manner, the glee in his voice even sending a shiver through Jung’s body. “That’s what I want to hear! That’s what I love to hear you say my young Jūbei! Make Morpheus and the Dreamrangers pay for their sins!” “Gladly.” Kusunaki replies, a smirk finding it’s way painted across his lips. “You two are now fully healed from your last encounter with those wretched souls. The time to strike is now! They’re coming off of a grueling battle and are weakened by it. Go now Kusunaki, Jūbei! Go now and kill the Dreamrangers!” Jung shouts at the young men. “YES LORD MOROI!” They shout back in unison. The brothers then stand up and storm out of the throne room. “Perfect.” Jung says coolly after the two have left. The two brothers stand in the hallway outside of the throne room, they staring at each other with a gleeful delight. “Shall we strike now as she suggested?” Jūbei asks of his brother. “But of course. Jūbei my brother, we shall end this right now and avenge our family. We will show those pathetic ‘heroes’ why we are called the Musashi Devils.” Kusunaki replies. “This is going to be so much fun.” Jūbei shoots back with a grin. “Oh yes, yes it will.” Kusunaki tells his brother, the two then grinning and laughing simultaneously. The sun fully rises into the sky, it signaling that of a new day. As its light shines across Nakano it peeks into the living quarters of the Dreamrangers. The three fighters and Aimi sit in the living room, they never having gone to sleep since their conversation with Edogawa. They tried to go to sleep, but the images of the Nightmarerangers doing the dastardly things they did made it impossible to sleep for long. Everyone decided to stay up in the living room together. Anybody barely talked, everybody keeping to themselves and ingesting the news in whatever way they decided to do so. The group stayed this way as the minutes passed and the hours came and went. Nobody seemed willing to speak. At twelve PM a ball of fire crashed through the window of the Dreamranger’s apartment, the sound of breaking glass getting everybody’s attention. Keiji and Syuri jumped to their feet and rushed to where the ball of fire landed, they stomping on it ferociously to put it out, Aimi and Paige watching on. After a couple minutes of slamming their feet against the flames, the fire died out. Paige and Aimi walked over to see what damage was done, they first looking at Keiji and Syuri to see if they were hurt. When their eyes fell upon their comrades’ faces they saw fury in them. The two girls then looked down at the ground, the floor burnt as one would expect. However the burn mark was special, it made to display a message after being put out. “Meet us in the outskirts of the forest. If you are not here in thirty minutes, then all of Nakano dies.” It was clear who the message was from, and thus who hurled the ball of fire into the apartment. Syuri, Keiji, and Paige moved at once towards the window, they ready to deploy and take care of the Nightmarerangers, hopefully once and for all. “Wait!” Aimi calls out to her friends, they stopping at the sound of her voice. The three stand still, their backs to Aimi. She looks at them in silence, she finding it hard to talk all of a sudden, tears beginning to roll down her face. “Aimi.” Syuri’s voice appears, it flowing it’s way through Aimi’s head. The rangers do not turn to look at Aimi, they keeping their backs to her. Syuri scoffs though before speaking again, her voice in it’s usual sarcastically warm tone. “Make us something good for dinner.” Aimi, blindsided by Syuri’s words begins to laugh a bit, she eventually stopping to reply. “I’ll make you all a nice pork dish.” “Perfect.” Syuri says, she and the others then vanishing into thin air, they leaving Aimi with her thoughts. Kusunkai and Jūbei stand in the desert like environment of the forest outskirts, they surrounded by mountains and dirt. They keep their eyes focused forward, they waiting for their opponents to arrive and enter the arena of combat. The wind is present, it blowing the hair of the two young men into their face as well as some dirt, it the only sound audible in this place. At one to 12:30, the eyes of the Nightmarerangers become a bit wider and fiercer, they set upon the Syuri, Keiji, and Paige as they walk into the area. They walk until they stand across from the two evil fighters, they apart enough for there to be a good sized piece of the desert like environment to be between them. The two sides keep their eyes locked on the other, the stares so sharp that they could cut through a tank. The adversaries continue to stare at each other, waiting for the first move, the wind howling as it blows through the area. ...To be continued
