I think It's high time for a general thread for 4"-ish scale Kamen Riders. I intend for this to be a database and discussion.
Right now I'm going to focus on ShodoVS and Ex-Aid So-Do for the database as they are current. I'll be adding others such as the past candy toy gimmick lines, SIC Kiwami Tamashii, and the Motion Revive Series. To make things easier to read, I'm going to put the more collector oriented lines in the first post and the budgeted gimmick lines in the second post. ShodoVS: ShodoVS is a line of Candy Toys that focuses on VS as every wave has at least 1 villain toy. The line also focuses on articulation and paint. Beginning with a figures from the Showa era, starting with wave 5 it will begin to make Heisei figures as well. Wave 1 (September 2015): 01. Rider 1 (Original) 02. V3 03. Rider X 04. Apollo Geist Wave 2 (May 2016): 05. Rider 2 (Original) 06. Rider 1 (Sakurajima) 07. Riderman 07. Riderman (Extra arm attachments) 08. Zanjioh 09. Shocker Combatman Wave 3 (August 2016): 10. Black 11. Black RX 18. Shocker Rider A (Comes with 3 scarves) 18. Shocker Rider B (Comes with 3 scarves) Wave 5 (April 2017) (Numbering is tentative): 19. Kabuto Rider Form 19. Dark Kabuto 20. Gryllus Worm 21. Skyrider 21. Powered Skyrider 22. Zect Trooper (Gun only) 22. Zect Trooper (Sword attached) S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii: This is a sub line of Super Imaginative Chogokin that takes the S.I.C. designs and scales them down into a budget friendly package. They focus on sculpt, paint, and articulation. These may be the most articulated Kamen Riders in this scale. I'm using Wikipedia's check list to fill in blanks and I will be dividing them by series in order of release (as the figures are not numbered). Hibiki: Hibiki Zanki Todoroki Hibiki Clear Purple Version (Hyper Hobby Plus Vol. 6/2009 Exclusive) Hibiki Kurenai (Tamashii Nation 2009 Autumn event exclusive) Ryuki: Ryuki Knight Faiz: Faiz Auto Vajin Faiz Axel Form Faiz Blaster Form Kaixa Wolf Orphnoch Side Basshar Horse Orphnoch Horse Orphnoch Gallop Mode (Tamashii Web Exclusive) Blade Blade Wild Chalice Blade King Form Garren Blade Jack Form Den-O Den-O Sword Form Momotaros Imagin DenLiner DX Set (Tamashii Web Exclusive) Momotaros Imagin (Pre-Contract Version) (Tamashii Nation 2010 exclusive) Kamen Rider Nega Den-O (Jusco Shop exclusive) Agito Agito Ground Form Machine Tornador Agito Trinity Form Agito Flame Form & Storm Form Effect Set (Tamashii Web Exclusive) Kuuga: Kuuga Mighty Form TryChaser 2000 Kuuga Dragon, Pegasus, Titan 3 Pack (Tamashii Web Exclusive) Gouram (Tamashii Web Exclusive) Kuuga Rising Mighty & Beat Chaser 2000 Set (Tamashii Web Exclusive) Decade: Decade Kuuga Rising Ultimate Motion Revive Series Motion Revive Series was a toy line much like ShodoVS in that they were heavily focused on articulation and paint. They were all Heisei Riders and sold in blind boxes. As Blind boxes, they are not numbered. Build SO-DO
Continuing the SO-DO line is Build. The line has similar construct with the armor and body changed to A-Side (right hand) and B-Side (left hand). It has all articulation as SO-DO, but with the addition of a waist joint. Build 1 (9/25/17): 1. Rabbit A-Side 2. Tank B-Side 3. Gorilla A-Side 4. Diamond B-Side 5. 6. Build 2 (10/17): Unknown Ex-Aid SO-DO SO-DO is a Candy Toy line that runs alongside the Ex-Aid series and it considered the budgeted version of the main gimmick line. The gimmicks of the main line are executed here with partforming. This means only one part from the Level 1 toy is needed for Level 2 and the Level 2 armor is not needed for Level 3. While SO-DO does have paint it is minimal and the line does use stickers for missing paint. Stage 1 (11/22/16): 1. Ex-Aid Level 1 2. Ex-Aid Level 2 Armor 3. Ex-Aid Level 2 Body 4. Brave Level 2 Armor 5. Brave Level 2 Body Stage 2 (12/13/16): 1. Snipe Level 2 Armor 2. Snipe Level 2 Body 3. Lazer Level 1 4. Lazer Level 2 5. Genm Level 2 Armor 6. Level 1 Ex-Aid [i]Dai SO-DO (6/19/17):[i] This wave is special in that it's older figures with more paint apps and added wrists and waist joints (and DKHZ is modified to work with them). This wave is only available at markets owned by Aeon Group. 1. Ex-Aid Lvl 2 Armor 2. Ex-Aid Body 3. Brave Lvl 2 Armor 4. Brave Body 5. Snipe Lvl 2 Armor 6. Snipe Body 7. Most feature some more paint apps. Some sets can be bundled with others. Stage 765 (7/17): Ex-Aid Pac Action Gamer Brave Famista Quest Gamer Snipe Xevious Shooting Gamer Option Set (7/17) Blocks x3 Chests x3 Barrels x3 Brave Set (8/17): True Brave Brave Safari Gamer Brave Galaxian Quest Gamer Graphite Set (9/17): Green Graphite Red Graphite Black Graphite Bugster Set(9/17): Bugster x6 Gangan Action Damashii Much like the others, Gangan Action Damashii has the gimmick scaled down with partforming. This line is different in that the arms and legs are built like model kits. There's some paint, but only on the Damashiis and the heads. Many, many, forms are missing form this line. Note: I might have some of the figure numbers wrong. It's been a while since this line. Wave 1: 1. Ghost with Ore Damashii 2. Musashi Damashii and Edison Damashii set 3. Specter with Ore Damashii 4. Nobunaga Damashii and Tutankhamun Damashii set Wave 2: 1. Toucon Boost Ghost 2. Ryoma Damashii and Goemon Damashii set 3. Specter with Ore Damashii (reissue was slightly different stickers) 4. Houdini Damashii (Specter's bike) Wave 3: 1. Grateful Damashii Ghost 2. Necrom 3. Grim Damashii and Sanzo Damashii set Wave 4: 1. Mugen Ghost 2. Deep Specter 3. Ghost with Ore Damashii (reissue was slightly different stickers) 4. Drive Damashii and OOO Damashii set Arms Action Gaim Arms Action is a Candy Toy line that ran alongside the Gaim series and it considered the budgeted version of the main gimmick line. The gimmicks of the main line are executed here with partforming. This means that each Arms has a tree inside that the armor disconnects from to peg onto the figure. While Arms Action does have paint it is minimal, mostly used on the Arms, and the line is sticker heavy. In my experience, the stickers are not very well made either. The line also had 2 EX waves. These had more in the box than normal and used for bigger items like Watermelon Arms. Note: I might have some of the figure numbers wrong. It's been a while since this line. Wave 1: 1. Gaim with Orange Arms 2. Baron with Banana Arms 3. Ryugen Grape Arms 4. Pine Arms and Strawberry Arms EX Wave 1: 1. Suika Arms 2. Sakura Hurricane with Suika sword 3. Zangetsu with Melon Arms and Kiwi Arms Wave 2: 1. Shin Zangetsu with Energy Melon Arms 2. Gaim with Jinba Lemon Arms 3. Baron with Mango Arms 4. Wizard Arms and Bujin Orange Arms Wave 3: 1. Gaim Kachidoki Arms 2. Gridon was Acorn Arms 3. Sigurd with Cherry Arms 4. Kurokage with Pinecone Arms 5. Knuckle with Walnut Arms (Note: Only figure in the line to be 1 per case) Wave 4: 1. Gaim with Kiwami Arms 2. Duke with Energy Lemon Arms (Note: comes with bonus sticker of Baron's emblem for Lemon Arms) 3. Bravo with Durian Arms 4. Gaim with Rider 1 Arms EX Wave 2: 1. Marika with Energy Peach Arms and Red Inves 2. Mars with Golden Apple Arms and Jinba Cherry, Peach, and Melon chest plates. 3. Kamuro Silver Apple Arms and Blue Inves 4. Black Gaim with Black Jinba Arms and Green Inves (this is so far the only released figure of Black Gaim) Fourze Module On This line is mainly based on the body style of OOO Combo Change leaning toward Birth due to having all the connectable Module parts. Each figure came with one Module and Module sets came with 5 Modules and a stand. I believe this is the first of these lines to include stands and an EX wave, though the EX wave is out of scale. NOTE: I'm not very familer with Fourze's names, so I might need to do a 2nd pass at this. For now, just putting in Part 1. Know that there are 4 Parts. Part 1: 1. Base States 2. Elec States 3. Fire States 4. Module set 1 OOO Combo Change OOO is the first of these lines that it fully built with paint apps out of the box. They still have stickers, but less then later lines. The line has more articulation than normal as well as a fully functional gimmick like the bigger toys. Box 1: 1. OOO TaToBa combo 2. OOO GataKiriBa Combo 3. OOO RaToraTa Combo 4. RideVendor Box 2: 1. OOO TaJaDor Combo 2. OOO SaGoZo Combo 3. OOO TaToBa Combo (Reissue from wave 1) 4. Birth 5. CLAW Box 3: 1. OOO Putotyra Combo 2. OOO Shauta Combo 3. OOO Tamashii Combo 4. RideVendor (Reissue from wave 1) So to get the discussion started, do you guys have any favorites in this scale? I personally really love having Shocker Combatmen in the same scale as Putty Patrollers. Last edited by Blade Raider; 08-26-2017 at 07:38 PM.. |

So, while I don't read Japanese, I do find Bandai's candy toy blog to be very helpful on Ex-Aid's SO-DO line (and a little Google Translate doesn't hurt either). Each week they go over an upcoming figure, detailing the work they've done and this blog also reveals the next waves. This week's entry was all about the upcoming Bugster troop builder (which looks really nice).
However, the big thing is the next wave, Stage 5, is shown. It will be: Shakariki Sport with Ex-Aid head (aka the pink haired repaint). Proto Snipe Level 1 (aka an extra Level 1 body! Yay!) Genm Level 10 (Brains!) Ex-Aid Mighty Bros XX How these will be broken down into boxes is unclear, but here's hoping at least the Mighty Bros XX armors are packed together. http://bandaicandy.hateblo.jp/entry/weeklyex-aid15 |
