Mega Brands, Inc. has gotten in on the Power Rangers 20th Anniversary celebration with a Mega Bloks mini-figure set featuring the original Mighty Morphin team!
The figures from the Toys-R-Us exclusive set use the new body style introduced with the Mega Force line of figures and sets. Each figure has 10 points of articulation and the five core rangers come with a Blade Blaster in 'blade form'. The Green Ranger weapon does not have a unique sculpt but is just a black deco blade blaster with gold accents. The set includes several pieces that are used to build a display stand for the Rangers. I have this set (Thank you very much Pkmnmstr and AoBlue) and you need this set. It looks awesome on a shelf, their fun as hell to play with, and already Green Ranger has slaughtered three Jedi and a few Halo Brutes

The one thing I disliked about this set was how cheap they got with the weapons. Particularly the green ranger's.

The weapons make sense until you get to him. They're sculpted to be their Power Blasters in Sword Mode, his is just painted black. But they're very well sculpted.

Hopefully these are among the TRU exclusives that make it over here, I'd quite like to pick a set up at some point.

The only thing I dislike about the set is that Green's shield is just painted on. Mega Bloks has proven they could do awesome armor with the Samurai line so there's no reason they couldn't have done it.
I understand that it was more cost effective not to make the shield a separate piece but it could have been reused for a chase or con exclusive armored Red down the line. |
