Like I said pics do not do him any Justice. When you see him in person the size of bulk of the figure do a good job of hiding that gap and the feet look well portioned in T-rex mode. In robot mode its not that bad but its not the best I agree.

the anticipation of getting mine is making me giddy, trying to decide whether on the basis of initial impressions of kyoryujin to go all in on the mecha

Unless every picture of him (Yours included) are just taken at such a bad angle that the gap only appears to be as unsightly huge, then I don't think having him in hand will change my opinion. I just don't understand why that couldn't have had any form of cover of compensation to hide it...

We're talking about the slope on Gabutryas back. Where the head pops up in the middle.

Oh you mean that round indent/valley in between the back of his head and the beginning of his tail? I never considered that unsightly or a problem at all, I treat it as an aesthetic choice. At least it looks solid. A truly annoying gap, for me, is a hollow gap showing, like on Fall of Cybertron's Voyager Grimlock's Dino-chest.

I just don't understand how it's a "gap" if it's intended to be that way. It's not like somethings missing, it's designed that way. And it does not look as bad as some are saying it does.

It's hard to be distracted by the back stuff for me; it's just so minor. I'd like to think he found some black thrash and decided to lug it around.

This talk about Gabutyra's back gave me an idea I couldn't resist trying.

Why can't we have a Green T-rex ranger named Yoshi?
