Victory Robo
Victory Robo is a great looking mecha. Solid shape, solid colours, solid design, just super solid all around. The various vehicles the 99Machines are based on all fit the rescue theme and the way they combines is really neat with how it tries to be somewhat realistic. I also want to applaud the guy who came up with the idea of ladder arms. That is just plain cool. Victory Walker I'm guessing that this mode was only really used like once or twice within the whole show. It is what it is, a giant pair of legs. I mean logically it does some amount of sense but that doesn't really change how silly it looks. Grand Liner The first ever train based mecha and wow did they knock it out the park with this first attempt. Grand Liner is like the older brother to Victory Robo. He's big, burly and looks built for sheer raw force. I mean when his debut fight show that the monster barely reaches his waist, you know he means some buisness. His finisher also really stuck with me, how he basically turned his hands into these massive weapons. The GoLiners are a neat take on the whole carrier mech concept and the fact that Grand Liner can be formed while the 99Machines are stored inside is really cool. LinerBoy If Grand Liner is the older brother, LinerBoy is certaintly the younger brother. The last mecha with the -Boy subtitle, this is probably the best looking one out of all of them. It has a pretty sleek look to it, the solar panels are a nice detail, and the train/shuttle mode is quite cool. Also maybe it's just me but does anyone feel like this was a scraped Megaranger mecha design? Aside from being space themed, the head really does bear an uncanny resemblence to the Megaranger helmets. Max Victory Robo Max Victory Robo is pretty nostalgic mecha for me, mostly because Lightspeed Rescue was one of the first Power Ranger shows I've watched thanks to DVD's, and one of the episodes included was the end of Diabolico aka Zlypheeza. It's just a really nice looking combination to me. I really like the overall silhouette especially the way the shoulders pauldrons are shaped. I like that it inherits the solar panel detail from LinerBoy and expands on them a bit. The new and mostly consistent colour scheme helps to differentiate it from either Victory Robo or LinerBoy. Also it's packing a lot of firepower since it has railcannons, along with a bunch of other guns on his hands, chest and head. Victory Mars If we're continuing the family metaphor with the GogoV mechas, I guess Victory Mars would the middle brother, around the same age as Victory Robo. Victory Mars has a very lean look to him which I like, helps to distinguish him from the other mechas. Same goes for the spear, it's a weapon that isn't used by a lot of mechas and the fact that he has a missle as the spear head is cool. The larger presence of silver is also a nice touch. The head is admittedly quite weird. I don't dislike it but it's a very strange design especially when you look at it from the side. Beetle Mars Beetle Mars is a bit interesting for an alternate form. While it is just Victory Mars on all fours, the attempt isn't too bad since Victory Mars already lean design kinda helps the silhouette of this form. Plus you don't see many obvious robot parts, aside from the head sticking out from the back which is a rather unfortunate position. Super Armor Shine Victory Mars I suppose you can call this the first movie exclusive mecha form in Sentai. I mean it's just Victory Mars wearing GingaiOh upgrade armor so it isn't winning any points for creativity but it's still at least something. I actually do kind of like how the head crest looks on Victory Mars. The sword however is just GingaiOh sword with the GogoV logo on it and the chest plate really looks like it was just plasted on there. Max Victory Robo Sigma Project I have not fully watched GogoV but even then I can tell what the point of this mecha is. It really just exist so that they can advertise those black and gold mecha repaints by having one show up in the show. I mean it looks nice but its pretty obvious what its purpose is suppose to be. Just to end things off, can I mention how amazing all the mecha themes for GogoV are. Like seriously, they are some of my favourites in all of Sentai. https://soundcloud.com/user-8416162/...i-victory-robo https://soundcloud.com/user-35389736...bo-grand-liner https://soundcloud.com/user-8416162/fastest-greatest https://soundcloud.com/user-35389736...i-victory-mars |

This show would be the second time the red and blue vehicles become the arms since Kakure Daishogun.
Overall Victory Robo is well-designed and feels like it truly belongs in the show. Liner Boy I think is simple yet effective and those solar panels really fit well from a design standpoint. Grand Liner is one of my favorite big-sized bot and I just remembered how good Max Victory Robo looks. The Sigma Project despite being a quick repaint I think is one of the best black variants around. As for Victory Mars... I dunno. It looks like it tried to be Oh Blocker but accidentally got squashed.

This is a show that had a lot of mechs and a lot of good mech designs, but I think this is a case where the starter mech, Victory Robo, was so good that none of the later ones quite match it.

Grand Liner is my favorite of the show as it is a train, trains are awesome, and this mech is badass.
I also love how realistic they make Victory Robo put itself together. Yeah, the monster could have the entire city leveled by the time they are done combining, but it is the thought that counts. On the other hand, I felt the Mars Machines were out of place. They just didn't fit with the rescue theme and felt tacked on for some last minute toy sales. Liner Boy was fine for what he was though. |

I have stated previously that Grand Liner/Supertrain Megazord is one of my most favorite Megazords ever and that statement still stands today.

I never understood the sudden shift to space based vehicles in a rescue themed show. You can call him Liner Boy, but he's still a damn shuttle.
The first robot, Victory Robo, is easily the best of the series. However, Grand Liner has always been cool to me. Liner Boy and Mars were always average, though I do like the Beetle mode for it, I can't deny that. Max Victory is pretty nice for a full combination, too.

GoGo-V mechas have the most pretty well done designs of the 90's.

I love all GoGO V mecha. All of their mecha looks very cool
One of most interesting in GoGo V is their power are purely high-tech but their technologies can defeat Psyma Familiy's mystical powers. So yeah.... GoGo V (Technology) vs Psyma Family (Magic). It looks interesting too when Super Armor Shine used Victory Mars. Maybe Super Armor Shine can be used by GokaiOh too if Gokaiger used all of main five Gingaman Ranger Keys in GokaiOh cockpit. |

That's funny, Victory Robo is the first robot which the torso and head is formed by a green mecha.
