I agree. also If they did make a 009 live action I would want to see a international cast like in the anime with actors of different races portraying the appropriate cyborg

In my defence, I did do some research on 009-1 before I posted the article and did find that there was some connection between the two shows.

Considering both the 009 and 009-1 mangas were created by Ishinimori, and both feature cyborgs I don't see why you can't connect the 2. No they don't take place in any sort of shared continuity. Primarily because 009-1 takes place in an alternate history where the cold war is still going. However, it should be mentioned that in the original 009-1 manga that some of the cyborgs from 009 DO appear in just a couple chapters. There is a connection if nothing else than through the creator himself.

Sharing a creator isn't enough to consider the two in continuity, though.
While the cyborgs from 009 may have appeared in the 009-1, that isn't grounds to call it "Cyborg 009-1," it's just "009-1."

I didn't say they were continuity at all. In fact my post made that clear I thought. I was only implying that they could be connected by reference, just that they relate to each via a shared real world attribute.
