I would suggest the set that came from Mill Creek. They have both dubbed and subbed, video quality is good, and the price isn't expensive ( last I looked). It's the set I have and I'm quite happy with it

Agreed, the Mill Creek set is your best value for Ultraman, and the only legal way to get the series here in the US. There's a few episodes on the set where the subtitles are not quite matched up, but you always have the dubs available for those few episodes.

To answer an earlier question put here about Seven's demeanor toward LEo in his series. I put it down on him being a drill instructor training Leo in the use of his techniques. I think Seven is trying to prepare Leo for the role he has to play while he's playing it. Being cruel to condition Leo.
I have to add I like the symmetry of Seven choosing Leo to train Zero later on. I think that was a nice acknowledgement by Seven over how well Leo has grown. |

You can also get Ultra-Q and Ultraseven from Shout Factory. I've heard that there's supposed to be a big collector's boxset of al the 70s shows forthcoming, but it was scheduled to come out last year and the website hasn't been updated in a long time (it also seemed a bit dodgy, since it claimed to include Leo, which isn't one of the shows covered by the same copyright deal).

So I upon my watching of Ultraman I finished watching the episode "Terrifying Cosmic Rays" and man
SPOILERS BELOW . .. ... .... ..... Alright, what is the deal with this episode? This actually upset me and not in the good way because the whole plot is a monster drawing that comes to life and then just sleeps. The Science Patrol do not come off well as they mercilessly attack a peaceful creature simply because "the economy is suffering" which only worked when he fell asleep in the middle of downtown, but the very next day he falls asleep in the countryside by a river and it just... the monster wasn't doing anything. ULtraman was beating him up but then seemed to get his head out of his butt and sent him into space to live as a constellation. But this episode was such a change where the patrol squad and even Ultraman come off as more villainous than normal. Maybe it's just me. |

It was weird, the episodes up to and after have been just stellar. I loved the tragedy they put into such kaiju as Jamila and Woo, where it wasn't just black and white but man. This one, what was the writer thinking?

Crunchyroll also has Ultraman Leo, Ultraman 80, Ultraman Max, & Ultraman Mebius- but you probably knew that. The quality is amazing on Crunchyroll as well which is what I love, and it's all subbed. I think as little by as response remains good they'll keep adding series.
