Hello everyone!
First time posting here on TokuNation, thought I'd try and make a solid contribution. I dug around and couldn't find a dedicated thread, so I figured I'd go ahead and start one (my apologies if I missed one that's already active). I find the Kamen Rider transformation belts (aka drivers) released by Bandai to be wonderful, interactive toys with a distinct flair. Given the development of the catalogue, I thought now would be a good time to dedicate a thread to the discussion of past, present, and future drivers, including any associated accessories. So, how about some topics for discussion to get the ball rolling? Feel free to chime in on (but not limit yourself to) any of the following as you please... Questions: • Which driver is your favorite? • What driver would you like to see reissued/remade? • How do you display your drivers? • Best driver gimmick? • Worst driver gimmick? Share: • Reports on upcoming releases • Where to buy drivers and associated accessories • Pictures of your driver collection I look forward to all of your contributions. Henshin! |

So far I only have the Ghost Driver. I really want to get a Sengoku Driver though, kinda eyeing the Beast and White Wizard ones too. OOO looks like it works in a pretty cool way and it looks really cool, as do a few older ones, but I haven't seen a lot of Heisei series so my knowledge and interest in most of them is pretty limited. And for the ones I have watched, like, I wouldn't mind owning the CS V-Buckle or the ol' Blay Buckle, but they're not exactly cheap. Especially the former.
The Amazons Driver looks pretty cool. I kind of want to own it, but it's also pretty expensive so I probably won't. I like the belts, but they do cost plenty. |

I'll make a contribution to this thread. I'll start by answering the questions posed first:
1st. I would have to say my favorite driver is the Faiz Driver/Gear. I love the aesthetics, design, and concept that it's a cell phone. It's more innovative in my opinion than the Super Sentai cell phone changers. 2nd. One driver I would like a remake of is the Blay Buckle. I've been wanting to get one for some time but they're far too expensive for my taste. Also because of the limited playability, it doesn't seem worth it. 3rd. I keep one driver on my desk. The others are boxed in storage sadly. If I had more space to display my collection, I'd love to have a wall of riders with their belts, gear, and figures together in their own showcase. 4th. Many of the Neo-Heisei belts have some of the best gimmicks in the line. I'm not sure which I like the most, but I'm stuck between the OOO's Driver and CSM Decadriver. The level of mix and match of the OOO driver and subsequent scanning is a lot of fun. And hearing all the sounds out of the CSM Decadriver is amazing, the added BGM gives it a real sense of tension. Lastly. The belt with the worst gimmick, I'd have to give it to the V-buckle. It's a sad belt that only has 3 sounds and no fun gimmick to it. The Blay Buckle is only slightly better because the Turn-up gimmick is kind of cool. The V-buckle by comparison is sad as all you do is inserted the Advent Deck and draw cards. That being said, I still want one to add to my collection. I would be happy with just a Legend Rider Series version of the belt. |

Well, I'll join in on the fun.
My favorite in terms of look is the Blay Buckle, but my favorite belt overall is the OOO Driver. I love the voice, I love the interactivity, and I just love playing with it. It's a shame that the scanner only has so many items it can scan. Also, I wish the Medals weren't translucent, since the green chips kind of ruin the look of some medals, most notably the white ones. A driver I would like to see reissued? This one caused me a little pause. If I wanted any driver reissued, I'd want all 4 Blade Buckles. The Blay Buckle, the Garren Buckle, the Leangle Buckle, and the Chalice Rouser. I love the look of them all so so much! However, if I had to pick only one, I'd honestly have to go for the Chalice Rouser. I love you, Blade, but Chalice's Rouser, doubling as both his belt and weapon, would have a lot more interactivity with the cards, doing more than just "Turn Up!" While all 4 would look beautiful as display pieces, Chalice's play value makes it more worth it. I generally display them haphazardly on a shelf, as long as the buckle side is facing front. Currently my belts are sitting in the closet due to lack of display space, though. Best gimmick are the lockseeds. Though I don't have one (I do want one, specifically Bravo's Durian lockseed and plate), I think they look nice, and since all the electronics are located in the lockseed, rather than the belt, it means that, say, 10 years from now, they could make a slew of new lockseeds that can perfectly interact with the belts. Worst gimmick has to go to...Eh, I'll agree with the previous post and go with the V-Buckle or Advent Belt from Ryuki. Kind of like the Blade belts, most of the fun is in their scanners, rather than the buckles themselves. But at least Blade's belts have the cool flip associated with Turn up. I almost said Faiz, because the Mission Memory gimmick things don't do anything, but the functionality of the belts are just too cool to hate.

• Which driver is your favorite?
OOO Driver. OOO is my favorite series largely in part because the main Rider has my all-time favorite transformation system and power-up format by far. • What driver would you like to see reissued/remade? Surprise, surprise. I want a CSM OOO Driver. I'd like me some premium belt straps and maybe some more show accurate medals. Also, if possible, the insert song for each Combo incorporated into the belt in a similar way that the CSM Decadriver plays background music alongside the transformation. • How do you display your drivers? I've only got two, and right now the Medal Holder and OOO Driver are sitting at the corner of a shelf full of Ghost toys, because Ghost is the first season I've decided to basically go all in on the DX mainline. • Best driver gimmick? Would it surprise you if I said O Medals? I totally understand the appeal of Lockseeds though, and I personally really like Eyecons too. • Worst driver gimmick? Yeah. Ryuki probably. While I'm not really a fan of Astro Switches, Shift Cars, Fuestles, or Wizard rings, they're still probably more interesting than the advent decks. And like Matrix said, the Blade belts have some rad flippy features to compensate for their similarity to the V-Buckle. I guess I've never been a big fan of the gimmicks from Den-O either, minus the DenGasher (but I guess that doesn't have anything to do with the Driver itself.) Alright, I'll play.
1. Sengoku Driver or W Driver. Not because of what they do, but what they don't do. As Matrix said, they can keep making Lockseeds and Gaia Memories from now until the end of time and they will ALWAYS work with the belt, unlike most others which have the sounds programmed into them, and if we're lucky there may be some revised version down the line, like the Break Gunner. 2. V-Buckle. It's simplistic, yeah, but Ryuki is easily one of, if not outright, my favorite series. 3. Right now, in their boxes on a shelf in my closet. I have no display space right now... 4. See above: Sengoku and W Drivers. Though, for actual functionality, I'd say the Decadriver. I'm a sucker for cards and it's the opposite of the V- and Blay Buckles in that the card functionality is in the belt itself rather than some peripheral. Plus it looks great. 5. I'm gonna say Hibiki's belt.

But it turns into a TAIKO DRUM! That he beats on to blow up GIANT CRABS!
Okay, okay. I can understand how the lack of involvement in his transformation can be off-putting, and I guess it doesn't make for a great toy either. But its function in-show is too crazy and awesome for me to dislike it. |

I suppose I could throw in my two Cell Medals.
1. I almost never have a favorite anything, and Belts are no exception. Though if I HAVE to pick one, I'd go Wizard Driver. I like the whole "magic rings" thing and while I have some trouble wearing them, I find it fun. That and I seem to be one of the few people that likes the repetitive sounds. 2. Again, not sure. I haven't bought many toys, and I have no current intention of buying any more than the one belt I have (maybe another when I'm a little richer). So pass i guess. 3. I don't. Since I have so few collectibles/devices, I just keep them in padded drawers in my dresser. 4. Tie between OOO medals, Gaia Memories, and Lockseeds due to reasons listed by others and my lack of exposure to Pre-Decade Heisei series. Second place would probably Shift Cars/Signal Bikes. 5. uuuuuuh....... (Damnit brain stop being so nice and hate something already). Don't want to say V-Buckle like everyone else, soooooo... eh, I'll just say V-Buckle. All of the Ryuki gimmick is in the card scanners and not the belt, so going by belts it seems to not be too good.

You know... I've been pondering which belt I'd like to see get the CSM treatment next. Here's my pick: Kivat Bat III, Kiva's belt essentially, I feel like an updated version of the Kiva belt would be awesome.
That being said, as the CSM Faiz Gear/Driver is set to release this fall. I really hope they make a CSM Kaixa belt at a follow-up, since they've made a pattern of releasing the secondary rider belts. Of course, a CSM Orga Driver would be awesome too. The CS versions of both Faiz and Orga were both great, but I feel like they were still lacking in screen accurate details. The CS Faiz Gear especially had some missing paint apps. But back to what I said first, the belt I think that should be next in the CSM line should be the Kiva Belt. What belt does everyone else want to see getting the CSM treatment next? |

• Which driver is your favorite?
As I only own one driver (mach driver) I can only speak about those Ive seen but never touched. That said, I allways loved the faiz driver simple but intuitive function of typing the numbers and placing the phone in the belt and pressing down. • What driver would you like to see reissued/remade? I would be cool to see a new Rider one belt, I curious to see what it would be like today with modern tech. • How do you display your drivers? Usualy I take the belt off and place the driver on the shelf standing up alone or with the associated accessories. • Best driver gimmick? I love the shift cars from drive but im super biased as I loved drives theme and design. • Worst driver gimmick? If I had to chose one I would pick fourze. I love the belt but handling all those switches looks like a major hassle. • Where to buy drivers and associated accessories Got my mach belt on 40 with Amazon prime last year. Sometimes they have good deals on some more recent belts. |
