I think he means he has the torrents for the RAWs but hasn't downloaded them yet.

So you're asking around for a translator. Here's the problem with Goranger: it's incredibly old and harder than modern shows. Oh right, and it's 84 episodes long. The only ones I think even remotely could (or want) to do that are KIT Subs, and they have their hands full with the original Kamen Rider.
I could see being hesitant about JAKQ, but Goranger...aw yeah

Harder in what way? Like, harder to sit through/enjoy? Or harder to translate? I think it'd be worth it if it's the latter. I'd love to see/have Goranger subbed, and if there was anything I could do, i'd do it. Unfortunately, like I said before, I don't know nearly enough Japanese, so I can't really help with translating.

Ah. Well, those are good points, but i'd say it's worth the trouble to have a fully subbed version of the very first sentai series.

My reasoning exactly. You can't be a Sentai fan without knowing SOMETHING about Goranger. A lot of people would love seeing Super Sentai at its roots, but without subs, you're only experiencing half the action, if you're lucky.

Good luck to you if you choose to do Goranger. But personally speaking I believe KITsubs will deliver it someday. |

I would love to see this done and am willing to pay for transcription of there is someone who can verify translations in the transcripts and place them properly in subs.
I have access to professional translators and if I can find one who can handle the 70's Japanese, money is not a problem. If anyone is interested in verifying transcripts and placing subs, please let me know. I will get started by finding a translator to get us going. I'd like to start with the last episode of Goranger and then backtrack to the beginning. Which ones will be needed? Anyone have any thoughts on this? EDIT: I found someone experienced with subtitling Manga who might be able to do this rather quickly, even with the old school Japanese. I am hoping at a rate of 5 episodes per week. Since I am not too familiar with Japanese, I figured a good test task would be for him to do Episode 2 first. If that checks out compared to what already exists by Dead Fish, I will have a good idea of this guy's accuracy and quality. After that, we can do the last one and then proceed in order with the rest, or do the last one last. It doesn't really matter to me. I just want to get this done for the first time. Excellent! I have a couple people starting on videos that they will be ripping from sites. I wanted to get going on this ASAP because I didn't know how long it would take. I have 2 people interested and they will each be transcribing A different episode as a test task. One will do Goranger ep. 2 and the other will do JAKQ ep. 2. If one or both pan out with the test task, we can then arrange to transfer Raws to them for the best quality possible.
All we need to do now is decide what we want to call our group and arrange a means of distribution. |
