Zedd is the result of what happens when someone tries to gain access to the morphing grid without a coin. His skin and face boiled away, forcing him to wear the mask to hide his disfigurements and make use of the various tubes to keep him alive.
They pull a Joker and Harley situation, where Rita eventually sympathizes with him before joining his side, causing her to betray the rangers and go psycho in an attempt to get the Zeo Crystal, simply to please him. Zedd's staff houses a fragment of a Zeo Crystal from another world, which allows him the ability to grant life (At a much smaller scale than an entire crystal would allow), which is how he creates his own personal super zord, Serpentera.

Perhaps you possibly missed my point.
They could've killed pink, red, or black- but yellow and blue: They shouldn't have touched. Primarily because of their mentally challenged and LGBT characteristics. But of all the members to kill: They chose blue. Autistic, African American Blue. Now, keep in mind: I'm not mentioning those things to be rude or remotely offensive- I'm mentioning them because that's literally what he was and that's literally what happened- just being clear on that. Don't you think it's pretty bad that it took the death of an autistic, African American kid to bring the rest of them together? Doesn't that strike you as bothersome- at all? Those factors being there? They could've listened from the beginning and cooperated, but they refused, complained, made a giant fuss- and the thing that finally broke the camel's back and brought them together: A dead, autistic, African American kid. Come on...if that's what it takes for them to morph: I don't know about you, but to me, that's pretty bad. LOL It shouldn't have taken that for it to finally click and work- and It doesn't just make their characters look bad, but look at me! I'm an audience member and I'm acknowledging it. I can't be the only one who feels this way- surely there have to be more fans with similar reactions to mine. It was a bit much imo, and it does make them look pretty bad. Anyways, saw the movie yesterday finally, really really enjoyed it. It had some nice references, well written and interesting characters, a few really good performances, a great villain, it was just a lot of fun. It did a great job of "maturing" the series in a way that was honest and not insulting. It handled things like Billy's autism and Trini's lesbianism incredibly well (they felt more natural, less shoe-horned). It was way more of a character driven story, which was a very nice change of pace.

You're the one putting all the emphasis on his race and mental state. That is all on YOU. You know what they were probably thinking in the movie? It sure as hell wasn't "the african-american, autistic kid died", it was more like "our friend died".

Jason isn't really a jerk.
He's a teenager with attitude.

He's still like that. He's portrayed as popular but approachable.
He's just not a goody good that spends his spare time planting trees while planning for peace sittings and bake sales anymore

Not sure why this is such a big issue, anyway since his death wasn't even a permanent one. Last edited by Kiryu; 04-06-2017 at 07:17 PM.. |

Nevermind whatever minority that they're representing, it's silly to bring issues like that into a nostalgic kids movie like this. |
