One of the many unique things about Nexus was that unlike pretty much every other Ultraman show, Nexus doesn't have just one host. He has five of them over the course of the series. 6 if you count count Sayuri from X. Of these 6 hosts, who is your favorite? I'm probably in the minority here, but my favorite is the third one, Ren Senjyu. While he isn't exactly "unique" as far as Tokusatsu protagonists go, it didn't stop me from like him.
Even ignoring that Big Lipped Alligator Moment of an introduction episode, he's childish innocence and caring personality injected life into a cast of character that at that point were just emotionally exhausted after everything they had been through. Even though his personality kind of clashes with the tone of the show at first, it eventually works itself out into a surprisingly satisfying conclusion to a story line that was barely 10 episodes long and kind of came from absolutely nowhere. |

Part of me wants to say Nagi because Yasue Sato, but I kinda hated her character for most of the show. I liked Himeya and Ren a lot equally for very different reasons, so I'm just going to take the easy way out and vote for Lt. Tachibana because I liked X more as a series and that episode was great.

Interesting choice. I liked that episode of X. This is off topic but could you tell me why you like X so much. A lot of things I like about Ultraman are present in X, not to mention it has the Ultra of the series actually talking and interacting with his host regularly which I love to death, yet I keep finding myself saying that X just ok. I've been trying to figure out why that is.
It also had a Max cameo and that goes a long way with me. |

My admiration for X is a combination of two factors: the suits and the characters. I really liked X's suits, particularly X himself and Cyber Gomora. They were both really cool and took part in some great action scenes. Mostly, though, I really liked the cast - the supporting characters moreso than the star. I like it when Ultra shows flesh out the support team - it's one of the reasons I love Max so much. Everyone on X got at least one focus episode and they all generally felt like well developed, multi-dimensional characters.

Ren was my favorite, half because Punch Hopper played him and half because he was an intriguing character. I also I loved his blue form.

Anyways, Ren was my favorite as Nexus. Oh yeah, and Aoi Kajitsu is one of the best Ultraman theme songs out there. The song is just perfect for Ren.
