Just watched Nightmare in Silver. I didn't like most the episode, so I'll be keeping my comments to what I did like.
The Upgraded Cybermen are nice. Though I think Moffat was watching Iron Man 3 when he came up with that one. And Willow. It was nice seeing him again. That was about all I liked. And for the record, that older kid was a bit of a spoiled bitch. And I kind of wished she died. |

Oh I agree, I just don't like the fact it's being brought up at all. Its never been such a huge issue before, but now suddenly it's a major plot point and the source of far too many "Doctor Who" jokes.
To be honest I'm dreading the finale. It looks to encompass just about everything I hate about the Moffat era. I'm just exaggerating though, I don't find these to be really that prominent issues, but I do admit Moffat does slip into these sometimes. Haven't watched Nightmare in Silver as it's due tonight. Can't wait!

My feelings about Nightmare in Silver largely mirror those of Moffat Who in general. It is an episode with brief, but utterly spectacular moments broken up by long moments of utter drivel. Do those spectacular moments save the episode? Not exactly but they do remind me why Doctor Who is always worth the price of admission, even in its weaker moments.

There are some Moffat ideas I liked. Bringing back the Ice Warriors of Mars, until he ruined the illusion and took them out of the armor. And as much as I think Marvel could sue over the new Cyberman design.. I did like them. Then I love Iron Man, so that could be bleeding into it. I like the new Daleks. Clara though makes me miss Amy, and I didn't like Amy.
I am glad the Intelegence stayed. I like that for some reason. |

Don't know about you guys, but I LOVED this episode. The Cybermen are the best they've been ALL New Series, and are actually genuinely threatening for once. The Cyberplanner has to be the most fun thing in all things Cybermen in a long time, Matt Smith really outdid himself with those scenes.
The older girl was annoying but the younger boy was okay. Besides that, the Emperor was a great character and a twist I did not see coming. Overall, this was a very "feel-good" kind of episode and I think it has to be my favorite episode this season.

I also have no idea why they had an ending like everyone had been on some nice family holiday, considering the events that transpired over the episode. That ending felt completely disconnected from everything else.

So, Nightmare in Silver. It was....iffy. The Cybermites were pretty neat, and it was nice to see a Cyberplanner again. Only this one was much more interesting than weird tubey thing in "The Invasion". It was interesting to see the Doctor play off of himself for once. But liking the new look, I thought the new Cybermen were pretty awful. Between the phasing style movement, the horrid new voice and the ability to pick random body parts off of themselves at will I seriously wasn't impressed. The episode also reminded me how much I hate puppet Cybermen too. Millions of Cybermen and all they were here were fancy henchmen. This was certainly one of the better episodes of the half-season but I think Gatiss' offerings were superior. I expected more from Gaiman doing a Cybermen story than an evil Doctor and an amusement park. Oh and Locke hit the nail on the head about the ending. It did seem pretty out of place. Can't wait to be disappointed by next week's!

(wow that sounds creepier than planned, I mean my cousins and siblings okay ). I guess it just shows what a disconnect there are between the critics and the intended audience and what a stupid move it was on Moffat's part to try and make adult and children's entertainment the same thing.
