TV-Nihon have uploaded their translation of the Specter V-Cinema and they did *not* like this movie. I haven't seen it yet, and I doubt I will any time soon give that I haven't even watched the Ghost Movie, but I can't really say I'm looking forward to this. For those of you who've seen this movie, what are your thoughts on it?

I only watched it in RAW before but I must say that I enjoyed it. I understand a couple of the dialogues there but yeah needs SUB for knowing it better. I do think that the movie was too short, considering that Ghost has so many plot holes that were actually promoted to this V-Cinema but I felt that some of them aren't that explained so much. Regarding this, I really hope that this movie got an extended 30 minutes or something to give more significant to the movie characters and dig Makoto's characters more. This is a reverse to Chase's V-Cinema that the long duration aren't so much worth at all, considering that Chase's development was practically covered in the series too.
However, it's surprising, and in a good way, that this V-Cinema also focus on our beloved Prince Takoyaki; Alain. Heck, if you think about it, Alain is given more significant to the story and the movie here than Makoto himself. Still, it doesn't mean that Makoto was pretty much shoved off. One thing to notice that Ghost once again proves that it doesn't need a fancy insert themes. The BGM and OST in this movie is pretty rich, especially during Sin Specter's fight. We even got a good instrumental version of Ghost's OP here too, so good luck for those who loves Ghost's OP. Overall, I don't think that this movie will move the heart of anyone who hates Ghost to like it. But, I do think that this movie is acceptable to be watched. If you can get past to Onari's scenes here (and yeah, there're a good 10 minutes or so), you're basically fine here. I think it's better than your average V-Cinema. Definitely better than the first Gaim Gaiden or maybe Chase's V-Cinema. It's on par with Mach, heart, Knuckle and Duke's V-Cinema to be honest. Still, I do really hope that they extend the duration because I don't know why but the movie was seemingly racing with the duration and it's not pretty. With SUB, I might watch it again to know the dialogues better and I hope you guys will actually enjoy it.

Haven't actually had a chance to see the subs yet, that being said I think the one good thing I'll take away from this are the fights. Friendship Necrom is just great and the Sin Specter Fight is probably my favorite V-Cinema Fight out of all of them purely because it's a fight and not a complete wipe out like with all the other V-Cinema Forms.

I said it before, and I'll say it again.....WOW. This Movie proves just how much the main Series wasted Makoto as a character. Throughout Ghost's run, I always reiterated time & time again that Makoto is THE most underutilized character, given just how rich his backstory and, at least for his introduction, his characterization were. And while I'll go ahead & admit that this Movie doesn't quite deliver enough to fully redeem that, it still delivers a very interesting storyline for Makoto that honestly would've been wonders for him in the main storyline.
I like the whole "three fathers" thing they set up with him in this film, and how they were able to really portray Danton as honestly a really sympathetic villain until he reveals his darker nature in the later half. Also, I know this V-Cinema has gotten alot of flack for not having much action until the end....but honestly, I don't think that's a huge issue. Dialogue & conversation are just as interesting as action, and without that stuff, we wouldn't have much of a compelling story to go off of, now would we? Danton manipulating the people and even Makoto was pretty believable to me, and it was smart of him to use the people's discomfort with human bodies to his advantage, considering they were JUST NOW getting used to them. Now, I won't lie.....IT'S GHOST WRITING ONCE AGAIN. There are a couple glaring flaws in this V-Cinema, like the retcon of the Makoto Clones(NO, Danton, it DOESN'T make sense for Adel to have gotten them when they literally were being spawned from the GANMAIZERS...), the Deus Ex New Eyecons, Saionji's random inclusion, etc.....but still, for what this V-Cinema was going for, I fully support it. THIS is the shine Makoto was LONG OVERDUE FOR. .....AND DID YALL HEAR THAT FREAKIN EPIC SOUNDTRACK, MY GOSH!!! Ghost continues to have the best OST even in its spin-offs!!! The Remixes for Necrom & Specter's Battle Themes were AMAZING!!! I'm SO MAD that Toei never releases the OST for spin-offs like this! Quote:

According to Alain and Makoto's actors, some version of this V-Cinema's story was supposed to be in the final leg of the TV series, but was cut for time and budget, so make of that what you will.

Well that explains everything why those two were sidelined in favour Ghost Jesus.

Hearing those above comments, I really think that Ghost really wastes so many good potentials and plots, especially regarding Argos and this. I think that they really want to include these Danton's things and Makoto's prototypes but they turned it down in favor of the GODDAMN Adel and Takeru! In fact, this V-Cinema is also written by Takuro Fukuda. If he could make such a good movie, why he can't add those cool elements to the series!? This is why I think that Toei meddles the writer so much. I don't want to say that Ghost is bad but it could have been improved so much if the writer or maybe Toei actually does more.

I really liked this movie. Kamen Rider has been using the whole V-Cinema format lately to make some surprisingly interesting movies (the lower budgets pretty much forcing them to actually tell a story, unlike a lot of the summer movies and Movie Wars and such), and this one is definitely towards the top.
There's a lot I can say about it so let's see if I manage to forget anything: - First off, I was shocked to see in the credits that Takuro Fukuda was actually the writer here. I mean, he wrote some of the show's best episodes, but considering he turned into something of a flake later on I have to wonder what kind of bizarre production woes were actually going on during Ghost proper. This movie, despite centering on an admittedly somewhat flimsy retcon (although the plot point itself was already kinda flimsy, to be honest, so...), feels like it was made with some genuine passion, and the writing here pretty effortlessly ties every random plot point and line of dialogue from not just the show, but every tie-in up to this point together. Makoto's daddy issues are the crux of the story! All the stuff with Alain! Saionji even gets an arc! It's seriously impressive, and the thought I was jokingly having the entire time was "man, did Yuuya Takahashi write this in-between Ex-Aid scripts?", which I'd say is some pretty high praise. - The story itself also avoided the problem of feeling like something that should've just been done in the show. Elements of it could've been, probably, but on the whole I think this really worked for the best as an epilogue. - And while overall it definitely feels like Ghost, the film is also very stylistically weird and different, which seems to be Toei's thing with spin-offs lately. You even got the slightest hints of that Amazons-esque ultra-violence here and there! Though thankfully nobody beat Takeru with a pipe. Although I'm sure some of you would've considered that an improvement... - I also like how they used Takeru here. They tease you with the idea of him actually transforming only to let the movie be about the guy it says it's about. Of course he still gets to speechify just a little bit at the end, but hey, that's what makes him Takeru. - Sin Specter is rad and the whole fight at the end was a really cool action scene to end on. - I don't really care for Necrom's new duds though. I guess it's nice he finally got something, at least. - Speaking of which, Alain shined in this movie a lot too. Add a couple more scenes to flesh out his part and they probably could've just called the movie Kamen Rider Specter/Necrom or something. So yeah, not perfect, but this was a really fun flick that basically felt like a gift wrapped apology to Makoto for not being used to his full potential in the last stretch of the show. Props to TV-N for finally subbing it even though they hated it. There weren't even any (major) errors in the translation, which is especially impressive given they were apparently watching a completely different movie than me. EDIT: Well, actually, they completely misheard a single word in Takeru's aforementioned speech at the end, which is actually a HUGE deal on a thematic level, but the actual plot and everything is completely intact, so hey, there's that.
