I just hope it actually pertains to Black, and isn't just some spinoff that just uses design cues.

Either a parallel universe sequel like the Heisei Ultraseven where RX is retconned or a straight-to-toku adaptation of the manga is what I wish for. Either way I can see it be a mix bag of Stranger Things and Lovecraft Country in terms of tone which I think would fit.

If it follows the precedent of The First/The Next and Amazons, the plot will be edgy nonsense filled with laughably bad gore, but the suits will be gorgeous and it'll ultimately be more entertaining than not, so I'm excited

I'm not *immediately* sure of this for some reason, but considering I legitimately like both seasons of Amazons, it'd probably be pretty narrow-minded of me to brush off an "adult" reboot of a Showa series immediately, huh?
I have a feeling this is something that will get more exciting for me the more I see of it. Either way, the mere existence of this as a project is definitely quite cool for how it shows Toei willing to do more random ideas. BLACK was a show that was like, internationally popular, so I'm sure everyone who grew up with it especially is going wild right now.

I love that they went outside of the usual creator pool for this. I would have been pretty bummed out if this turned out to be an Inoue or Kobayashi project again. I'm really excited to see what an established director from outside of the tokusatsu world will bring to this.
Is it too optimistic to hope that this ends up on Netflix or one of the other streaming services in the US? |

I’m going to be a bit of a wet blanket here and just say reboots don’t fill me with confidence. At least something like Amazons is so radically divorced from what it is inspired by that it is basically completely unrelated to it, but the idea of someone redoing the basic premise of Black just doesn’t interest me as much as something original. I hope it works out though!
Part of me is a little tempted by the idea of it turning out as goofy as The First / The Nexf, not gonna lie...
