At the risk of climbing on my soapbox, I hate this kind of lazy, cynical, in-name-only "reimagining". If you're using existing names, but changing personalities, designs, backstory and concept, then you're essentially admitting that you're using those names to try to grab the nostalgia dollar and nothing else.

I'm not a fan of this mentality.
Everyone knew it was going to be different from the show. No one was anticipating a mildly tweaked Dino Megazord/Daizyujin. It's the differences that took all individuality and made it into the AOE Dinobots in aesthetic for dino mode, and a giant, sludge footed ranger in robot mode that had most people cross. We weren't asking for more of the same, we were wanting them to be more unique. They instead chose to embrace the summer blockbuster cookie cutter alien, and molded themselves after everyone else. Also.. It's one thing to drastically change up the designs, but the fact that they couldn't even use the classic combination is insulting. I'm all for changing styles and aesthetics. Like.. Transformers prime Optimus, or even the newer RID Optimus are both what I'd call great homages to his classic G1 look. Hell, compared to this, even movie 1-3 prime is a solid homage to G1 prime. But these ugh. I think I'd be WAY more forgiving if the designs translated better to the toys, but they don't. The detailing is extremely dull, there's a jarring absence of paint detailing, and while I don't mind parts here and there disconnecting and reconnecting.. This takes that concept too far. I'm sure they'll all look rather nice on screen. But all that's going to do is make me like the toys even less. There are just some basic things I would've liked to have seen with this iteration of the Rangers. 1st, ranger helmets that represent their zords as well as MMPR did. Zords that combine similarly to the MMPR zords.. And zords with the proper amount of legs lol. With those guidelines I still think they could've come up with something awesome. This robot is as genric mid-2010's robo-dinosaur as you can get. The robot mode should be cool, if only for the size, but for the price, I'd pick up a couple of Dino Charge zords. They'd at least be able to combine into something colourful and distinctive.

(Yes, I know there's the Imaginext Megazord, but since it's basically a glorified Command Center, I didn't count it.)

Got my own in today. Even ignoring my distaste of the design I don't kije this toy. The plastic feels really poor, lots of hollow parts and for the size and money not a lot of great features.
I don't understand why it had to be this big. Make it smaller, improve the overall quality of the plastic, paint and details and it would have been a lot better as a toy. |

I'm waiting on the other four before I figure out if I want to bite.
That being said... where's the damn armor? This needs armor

I've seen this in person at a local Walmart and while I do plan on buying it at some point, I'm a sucker for robotic TRexs. I do agree a better paint job is needed to a point I wonder if Bandai will do some kind of Legacy version for the higher end market.

I'm not very impressed or interested in this one. But I must say, I do think the way they did the bottom of the legs have all the detail for the arms is pretty clever.

The movie looks so good! These toys are no exception in my opinion. It's so big! It has to be the biggest 5 Zord combining Megazord in history!

I would really like to see what if this thing would look like with a primuem paint job, Cause I imagine the design would stand out more if there was more paint but BOA will probably never give these toys a really good paint job.
