While playing a game in the woods, the RyuSoulgers suddenly find their greatest wishes coming true. Have they uncovered some unique type of magic, or is there something sinister at play here???

I had some decently high hopes for this episode and it didn't let me down. It's just about the most straightforward episode of Sentai you can imagine but it wears it extremely well. Melto actually feels like a character, the monster has an interesting enough gimmick, there are some good gags, some solid action, they play off of established stuff like Towa's competitiveness... It all checks out.
The biggest complaint I can think of is, uh... let's see here. I guess it was pretty convenient Bamba was walking by that guy at the exact moment to start his subplot? Honestly though, for that to even qualifiy as a nitpick, you'd have to have some seriously high standards for writing. This might be my favorite episode of the show yet, and seeing an emphasis on character like this would be very reassuring... if this weren't also the first episode from a guest writer. Still, the episode itself was a good time.

I still find it rather strange that the stand offish set were given their personal episodes before blue and pink, and we got 5 Knights before we got Kishiryuoh Triken and Ankyrose.
But whatever, they're finally getting some focus, and this episode was alright. Nothing special, but not bad, at least.

Hey, Banba finally got to kill the host, like he's always been so eager to do.

So now they can make minusaurs from objects huh? And yeah Banba finally got to destroy the minusaur host.
Towa reminded me of Rock Lee this episode. Always eager to train to get stronger. And of course it was a nice focus on Melto. Fleshed him out a little bit.

Yay, we're finally at the focus episodes!
Great episode and we got development for Melt. I like how this wasn't outright the "feel, don't think" message Sentai relies on far too often - instead it was about confidence. Melt needed the confidence to trust in his friends so they could rely on his plans. And he found his confidence through Master Blue, who appeared before him despite not opening a chest. Really solid character work and the action was awesome as always. I also like how it was very much focused on blue and red did not steal the show at any given moment. Interesting that inanimate objects can have negative emotions too. This way we are shown what happens when the Minasaur's host dies without outright depicting a person getting murdered. And it's a clever cost-saving method to have the Minasaur be a chest and not an elaborate monster suit. KishiryuOh Triken looks great and I love how it moves. The sword work is elegant and I love the finisher. It was a bit brief but I am glad we are able to see each individual form. The ending was a bit of a tearjerker. You can tell Melt really loved his Master. I think they are hinting that the Master's are still around as spirits in the RyuSouls. Next is Asuna's turn to shine, looks like it will deal with some pretty heavy subject material and we get to see KishiryuOh Ankyloze. |

This is the Melto focus I've been saying he needs. Fairly basic but nice character moments.
I've seen some people compare the monster to tsukumogami - a folklore concept whereby inanimate objects that are 100 years old gain a spirit (very long story short) which I guess makes sense? |

At least this one didn't feel like not much happen before the megazord fight. Still not liking pink, she is just annoying.
