I paid a grand total of $80 shipping included for my Kyoryuzin, and I paid maybe $40 plus shipping each for Pteragordon and Plesuoh. There are tons of sites that don't price gouge nearly as badly as HLJ does. Look on Mandarake, I've seen Kyoryuzin's sell on the regular for $40-$60 pretty much since this show started. There are most certainly affordable prices for these figures. $40 a pop for the arm mecha is crazy, I got each for 1500 yen which at the time was about $18 each before shipping.
But the simple fact is that whatever ever BOA offers for an american adaptation, it will probably simplify the Zyudenchi gimmick a bit, it won't transform accurately, and won't be as cheap as it should be to reflect these differences.

As for the BoA release, they very well may remove or modify the Jyudenchi gimmick, but we got spin disks with Samurai, almost the complete set of headers for MegaForce and they're releasing ranger keys next year, and I don't think any of those gimmicks were simplified (especially the keys which were enhanced with springs). They'll most certainly be smaller, but I don't doubt that they'll be included and functional. Honestly, what I'd like to see are Jyudenchi with zord-builder ports on either end (with pegs on Gabutyra and inside each arm). That way you could attach each arm by the battery and remove the need for clips entirely. |

HLJ also tends to list items for sale that they then don't get any stock in of, and then don't notify people about it. Which is what happened with every single DX Kyoryuger figure I ordered from them. I was never notified that literally everything I ordered went to back order or was listed as discontinued even though I got in on day 1 of their pre-orders. So for me they're pretty much a no go, permanently. They are completely unreliable.
And Manadarake is not "all used" either so I don't know where you're getting that from. They sell plenty of brand new and unopened toys. In most cases their auctions say a box is opened but the contents are unused, which is true. Even when they have something that's used they qualify it with a statement saying that it's still brand new or the box has a small ding or something. So don't assume that just because they sell it it's used. I've bought plenty of my brand new completley sealed figuarts from there and on more than one occassion sealed DX robs.

Also, just out of curiosity, I hear a lot of people complaining about Gabutyra, but were there ever any problems with Pteragordon? I've heard a few people say that the clips on it were reinforced as well with the second release, but I've never actually heard of one breaking. It seems like that single waist connector would be much more prone to breaking than anything on Gabutyra, but I didn't keep mine for long enough to find out. |

I've ordered from them as well and agree that I've gotten some new items (and even the things that were opened were almost always in perfect condition), however, its still a secondhand market and there would be no way to ensure that you were buying a second-run Kyoryujin.

I've heard of Pteragordon breaking, and in fact last year people said the same thing about Go-Buster Beet. But I've never had issues with either of those. Gabutyra has one broken clip on mine, Tobaspino appears to have the reinforced clips since it came out a bit later so that's one still fine too. My only Kyoryu breakage has been Gabutyra thus far.
If the new clips are actually better, then I'd thought about getting the Black Kyoryujin and Bragigas since the colors would complement each other quite well. But then I think...do I want mecha, or do I want a PS4...decisions... |
