You will certainly love The Wolf Among Us, especially the mysteries and story it shows and tells. And guess what... it only gets better from Episode 2.

Minecraft
I love how building a a multistory complex with a basement is easy but redstone repeaters are fucking rocket science to me. But I do hope someone owns Minecraft on PS3 and is willing to hang out with me in my world. Borderlands 2 Man, handsome Jack is one messed up motherfucker, doing the Jack echo sidequest in Fyrestone. Also, is it just me or do you start out in an area near where Borderlands 1 ends and get near the end at the place Borderlands 1 starts? Smash Bros 3ds I feel like I am better mastering recovery and the Falcon knee. |

Finally finished the main campaign of Destiny (after several weeks of grinding my gear to level up to level 27 LOL)...........now I guess it's time to buy that new DLC that just came out for Destiny.
Nah, I'll just continue grinding for more gear until I reach that level 30 (or 32 if I decide to buy the new DLC in the next few days) |

Well, had to restart Inquisition because 1) My chosen specialization (Templar) is functionally sub-par, and 2) I somehow managed to overwrite my save from before I finalized my specialization choice.
Sigh.

So much more enthralling than their Walking Dead games. I just keep getting mad at myself by accidentally progressing the story when I haven't finished checking every possible nook and cranny out heh.

Kingdom Hearts 2 FM
Thanks Tetsuya Nomura for making such a long and boring intro to Kingdom Hearts 2 so I can't get to the action I want to play on my recovery day. (sarcasm) Last edited by Powerman293; 01-12-2015 at 11:24 PM.. |

Super Mario 3D World.
Chaotic, that is the multiplayer aspect of the game, absolutely chaotic, and the main issue of this is goddamn camera. It will sporadically change who it wants to focus on, regardless of their placement. One player could accidentally fall down to a lower area and the camera will follow them, forcing the other players into a bubble, bringing them along. Other times, the player the camera is focused on might die, but the other players may just be slightly off screen and not bubbled, but as far as the game is concerned everyone is dead. This is incredibly apparent on auto scrolling levels. Does this make the game unplayable for multiplayer? No, but it is just as much of a mess as NSMB Wii and WiiU for multiplayer, and the camera issues just grow as the game continues. You'll probably get the best results with just two players. As for playing in single player, it is a lot easier, but there are still some camera issues. Thankfully you get some control over it in singleplayer, but that doesn't fix everything. The depth perception in particular can be a challenge in certain levels, sometimes you swear you're right over something and just miss, either by a mile or an inch. However these are minor occasional annoyances and mostly level dependent, and are no where near as bad or prevalent as they are in multiplayer. As for control, it's perfectly fine. Each character has their own unique way of handling similar to SMB2:USA. Mario is well rounded, Luigi has a high floaty jump but poor traction, Peach is abysmally slow but has an incredibly helpful float ability, Toad has fantastic speed but a terrible jump, and Roasalina handles similar to Peach but with a useful Galaxy spin attack/jump in place of floating. Every character is fun to play as, though I mostly stick to Mario, except for levels with an abundance of speed booster or if I'm going for collectables that require a particular character. On a side note, and this is also just a nitpick on my end, but I really wish Daisy was in the game as well. If there one thing that will take some getting used to control wise it's how stunted a few of the abilities are in this game, particularly the long jump and lack of a triple jump. It's nothing bad, if you've played 3D Land it's the same sort of deal. Would have preferred the spin jump be located to a shoulder button though, rotating the control-stick is a nightmare on small platforms. The levels are great fun, full of all sorts of nooks and crannies where there are valuables. Most things like hidden coin blocks can easily be found, and blowing into the mic will even give you the outline. Although some of the placements of the stamps and stars are a bit ridiculous, or the requirements a little strict, like carrying an item to the end of a stage and not getting hit or being a specific character to get a specific star. I find the last bit quite annoying btw. It's not a huge issue but I can't help but get a bit frustrated when I'm going through a level getting the green stars, and then all of a sudden need a different character to activate a button, meaning I'll have to replay the level again just for a green star or stamp. I know this is probably to get you to use other characters, but my desire to use alternate characters in a game should come from their unique abilities and/or alternate routes for just those characters like in Sonic3&K, not by preventing me from getting everything in one go simply because I used someone else. But if we're talking about just going through the level, they're aren't many issues. I can only think of one level in main story that really pissed me off and seemed unfair in it's difficulty. A nice surprise is that the levels don't always reflect the world you're in, this helps break up monotony and adds an element of surprise. You could be in a desert, but be cast into a underground cave, or in a water world and be atop mountains. The powers ups are also great fun, it's nice to see them continue to be of actual help and an extension of your character, rather than being situational. But nothing really sticks out as a favourite power up. I will say the new catsuit is actually quite fun and the double cherry can be fantastic under the right conditions. I also like how certain powers look different on each character, it's a nice visual touch. Speaking of visuals, this game in gorgeous for the most part. The worst thing I can say about the game graphically is the draw distance, it's horrible, really horrible. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've seen PS1 and N64 games with better draw distance. Thankfully this isn't noticeable in a majority of the levels thanks to their designs, but on a level like 5-4, it's painfully obvious. But since most are not like that, I'm able to enjoy the vibrant and sharp looking levels, it's really nice to see a 3D Mario game in full HD after so long. OH! and the music, it's wonderful, of course it is. I love when Mario games use big band or orchestrated piece, and this has a fantastic soundtrack. Great mixture of new and old(but updated) pieces. Now if only Nintendo would actually release these on iTunes *hint* *hint*. I really recommend this to everyone with a WiiU, even with the multiplayer short comings it's still great fun, even for a laugh when playing with others. I'm also still playing the bonus worlds, so perhaps I'll talk about those another time. Bravely Default. Now this is something I've been looking forward to for a while now, and it's been an incredibly enjoyable experience thus far, and I still have a lot to go through. From a story standpoint I'm going to be blunt, do you know the plot of Tales of Symphonia, or FF10...or almost any JRPG? Pretty damn similar. World starts going to hell, the primary religion is fading and people are loosing their faith. A faction made up of over the top antagonists are against the religion, saying it will lead to darkness despite darkness already being prevalent, which is supposedly due to tainted holy artifacts. A sole survivor of a destroyed village because of the great evil, seeks to reverse it. Along the way he meets a young holy girl with a martyr complex (and her fairy companion) who seek to purify the lands. Said girl is being hunted down by the goombas of the main antagonists. Later they meet a pervy warrior with amnesia, who is in possession of what should be a deus ex machina, as it's journal detailing future events of the game. And finally a warrior girl on the enemy side who turns traitor to join your party. This is practically JRPG story 101, I've heard this countless times and honestly, so far, there isn't anything unique in it's own right from any other story, and I seriously doubt anything will surprise or shock me. I fully expect that purifying the holy crystals or whatever is a very bad idea, because most JRPG are spent fixing the world and realizing you did the opposite. After that we'll probably be betrayed by someone that's been with us almost the entire time, personally I expect the fairy, Airy, since she's an NPC there's no other party members. Also time travel will probably be in there somewhere to explain the journal or something. But maybe that was the point, I'm not sure but the story might be self aware, or oddly playing tribute to other RPGs which have pretty much done it all story wise anyway, yet I can't say for sure at this point. I will say that at the very least it is done nicely so far, specifically the humor, which in all honestly has made me crack up a few times. The villains are absolutely ludicrous and it's glorious whenever they appear. I also don't want to spoil much of the story, but later in the game you meet a perverted sage and the dialogue between him and Ringabel(our pervy vagrant) is gold. I'm also not annoyed with anyone so far, so this is already better than most modern Final Fantasy games. Really, as long as the story is cohesive and enjoyable, if not terribly original, I won't really mind what plays out. But gameplay is the real reason I gravitated to this game. I love how this game is structured. I love being able to go into to options menu at any point (outside of battles) and adjust the encounter rate, I love being able to adjust the speed of the animations during battles. Those two things alone cut so much bullshit all RPGs suffer from. Encountering too much shit before the boss, or just wanting to collect a few missed items from a dungeon? Just turn the encounter rate to -100. Need to grind up? Crank it to +100 and fast-forward through the attacks to speed things up. Hell, maybe you just don't like the standard encounter rates and want more or less, but not too much. -50 or +50. Everything can be adjusted, or turned on and off, and I love this. I can't imagine most players would turn off things like EXP or Job Points, but it's there if you wanna do some sort of challenge mode or avoid being over leveled. As for the Jobs available, it's a bit of doubled edged sword. On one hand you get a ton on options, and a lot of them are unique. On the other hand, you'll often be stuck with jobs you don't want but have little choice in the matter early on. You unlock new jobs by defeating various bosses in either the main quest or side quests. I've deliberately skipped a few for the timing being, because honestly, I have no intention to ever use something like a spellfencer class. However, jobs have abilities that unlock as you level them, doing so also allows you to apply one of them to any other job, which leads to a lot of customization. Maybe you want a knight that can use an ability a valkyrie has, or maybe a thief that can use a monk ability. There is a lot of incentive to have characters switch and mix up classes and level them, but it isn't completely necessary. The abilities unlocked also helps jobs that become dated still have use in leveling them. Say the White Mage, one could argue it largely becomes dated as soon as you get the Spiritmaster job, but you can still make use of a white mage ability, like self healing or whatever else for your Spiritmaster. In this way, your time and effort put into leveling jobs you won't use again, are not wasted. I love playing this game because of this. The gameplay is great fun and I believe more RPGs need to be like this in terms of gameplay. Batman Arkham Origins. *sigh*....*sigh* Okay, just... The best way I can describe this game is unpolished. Very unpolished. The gameplay is largely not much different than the previous games, but the combat is sloppy. I swear there are times when you hit the counter button right on the mark, even several times and it just will not fucking work. I never had this in City, it was very rare in Asylum. Not helping the combat issues is just really weird oddball things, like enemies that spontaneously faint out of no where, causing your combo to end. They also like to throw a shit ton of guys at you in this game, which is oh so lovely with the counter system. But the real issue is when there are so many it causes slowdown, and on one occasion, during the end game, there were so many in one area that after they were knocked out, all but three bodies disappeared. I've also had some attacks just flat out miss. Know how in every Arkham game it slows down for the final attack on the last thug? Yeah, had Batman has completely missed his attacks a few time. Funny yes, but also bad design. This game was rushed and sadly it shows from a technical standpoint. I've also had the game freeze more often than is ever okay. 7 times so far. One occasion involved textures not loading and then freezing, another involved a whole 12 minutes of gameplay before locking up. That's just the complete freezing, not the temporary 1-2 minute stuff. Oh, and I can't access the training mode in the batcave, game always locks up every time I try it. Other less harmful but sometimes time wasting glitches, are things like Enigma data packs not disappearing from the map after collection. I have completed Enigma most wanted challenge, and of course I have 100% in all of that. Yet data pack 5-7 is still on my map. There are some good aspects, like the electric shock gloves are great fun. But I do feel they want you to rely on them a bit too much. They charge by you punching enemies repeatedly, however, they immediately start losing their charge regardless if you activate them or not, so you can't really save it for an occasion you really want to, and there really isn't a reason not to use them because of this. They are helpful, as once activated you no longer have to worry about armored guys, shields, shock batons or those new martial artists, since simply punching them is enough. I also love the crime scene reconstructions, seriously love them. If there is something I really want returning from Origins it's how fun piecing together the crimes are. Yeah, you're pretty much just scanning stuff and watching reconstruction footage for more evidence, but it sure as hell beats the other Arkham games when it comes to actually doing detective work. I would love to see this come back and perhaps be expanded upon, like say certain evidence needing to be taken back to the batcave for further analyses. Maybe an object is encased in...something, and you need to mix chemicals to carefully remove layers. Oh, the fast travel is a nice addition too. But honestly I can't say much else. It's not exactly broken, well completely. I'd say 75% of the time the game runs fine, barring the combat and Enigma map stuff anyway. 75% of the time it doesn't completely freeze or has a game breaking glitch like failed texture loading. But It will happen, and it will happen at random intervals, so perhaps it might be more or less for you. Now if you're wondering why I didn't bring up things like story, music, or graphics. It's...eh, all of it's eh. The story is just another Joker-Batman deal. The mercs are...there, just there. Quite a few of them are also optional if not a joke, some being involved with side quests rather than the main Goddamn plot. The music is really subtle and nothing really sticks out, bit too atmospheric so to speak, though the Christmasesque bells are nice. Graphically it's no different than City in terms of quality, just with snow and foot prints in said snow. So they're nice but nothing that much different. That's all I can say about it. I don't hate this game exactly, I had my fun and I've played and seen far worse. But it's just so underwhelming and unpolished. I knew Origins was just filler, I knew this before it was even released, I did not expect something on par with City in terms of doing new things and building upon the established to a great degree. But that doesn't mean you should be lazy with it. I do not blame the developers for it's quality, because this was something I see being rushed out for an Oct. release by higher ups, holidays and all that. If this came out in November or December, with a few more weeks of polish, I feel it wouldn't have these issues. But as it is, I cannot recommend it unless it's really cheap. I paid roughly $20 (plus another 4 for a costume set) and part of me wishes I had gotten a cheap figuart or a crap ton of eShop games. Should've got Aria of Sorrow. *sigh* Anyway, I still have SMT IV to play. |

I never had the chance to play Mass Effect before. On the PS3 I had Mass Effect 2 and Genesis, the Dark Horse comic that allowed you to make choices from the first game so you could play 2 and 3 like you played the first. So when I got an XBox I decided to buy all three since they were cheap. Play the series the whole way through, you know? And Mass Effect.. How did this become a series? The controls are.. I don't think there's a word for it. Back is the grenade button, the powers are useless. When you fire at something you have no sense you're actually aiming. So I'll be going through the first game to do the story alone, I think.
The Mako is awesome to drive through, I enjoy that. |
