Call me a romantic or whatever, but I am curious should there be some romance subplot in the Heisei Riders story (From Kuuga to Drive), who would be best romantically paired to the Main Riders (Some of the Secondary Riders with more active role can be mentioned), considering both Dead or Alive characters?
For the main Riders: Kuuga Agito Ryuki Faiz Blade Hibiki Kabuto Den-O (Ryotaro) Kiva (Wataru) Decade Double (Both Philip and Shotaro) OOO Fourze Wizard Gaim Drive |

I hate romantic subplots.
It detracts from everything before it swallows the main plot whole.

I don’t think there should be more romantic subplots. With Drive it was okay, more than that would be annoying though IMO.
As for your second question, you don’t really need to ask that with Gaim and Drive, in Gaim Kouta and Mai rule a planet together and in Drive Shinnosuke marries Kiriko. The others, I don’t really know, I haven’t watched all of those and I don’t really think about that stuff too often. To be honest Agito is the only example I could come up with right now, since Shouichi X Kana is fairly obvious IMO. |

I'd say the Kiva stuff worked best because it was kind of thematic to everything in the show with the gothic horror designs and the fact half the show is about how the title character was conceived.
You can call the 3 triangles BS all you want (I strongly disagree as especially with Otoya's 2, I found them to be actually indicative of his character development from womanizing jackass who sees women as challenges to win to actually seeing Maya as more than some prize or challenge and actually had a connection with her) but they had more of a place with the atmosphere. The Kota/Micchy/Mai one in Gaim also gave us the wonderful image of Mai bitchslapping Micchy (Micchslapping?) so can't complain there either. |

I think my favourite romantic subplots in kamen rider were Double, Drive and Kiva was actually really good in that aspects so yeah I think it can do a job of it.

I like the romance stuff in Kiva and I like Kiva in general, probably unpopular opinion but it is what is.

I do like the Romantic Sub-Plot between Shinnosuke and Kiriko
Heck! It was better than "suddenly" Romantic Sub-Plot between Daigo and Amy I like Romantic Sub-Plot when they hinting at and having Amy suddenly in love with Daigo with no proper hinting is what killed Kyoryuger for me If you want Romantic Sub-Plot, Try to hint at! Anyway, I always knew Kiriko would choose Shinnosuke over Chase because they always hinting at Kiriko choosing Shinnosuke over Chase At least Shinnosuke and Kiriko got great chemistry anyway Sorry Chase Fans but I don't think he will ever end up with Kiriko Kiriko will be 60 years old and Chase still look young, That doesn't work! |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Eiji/Hina from OOO or Tsukasa/Natsumi from Decade.
Okay for Eiji/Hina the best we got was in the Net Movies where supposedly Eiji is set to marry Hina but is stopped by her "father". Tsukasa/Natsumi is probably the only time I'd be okay with a primary Rider having a love interest/romantic subplot. I like the chemistry they share on screen especially in the first 2/3 of the season. That being said though, KR not tackling romance with the primary Riders is a nice change. So often in media do we see a lead male and lead female end up together just because. It's refreshing to see two people who grow close through 49 or so eps plus 3-4 movies and remain friends. I like how they acknowledge that two people can be close without being romantically involved. |
