I think we could use one of these instead of cramming it into the news topic.
Anyways, first episode is out and it was fun IMO. It really is just a cute little parody-sorta thing. Very short though, the first episode isn’t even 10 minutes, it’s barely 7 without the credits. I'm glad that it exists but I really wish this could've been a full spin-off movie. It makes you laugh, the action is nice to look at but it's over once you're starting to get into it. Definitely worth watching though, especially for Drive-fans. GenmCorp Subs has the first episode available but I assume TVNihon and OverTime will follow shortly. |

Another not so serious fantasy. They got the actor for belt-san back for this rather than the show/movie beside minor flashback, ending, and movie promo. Even heart and medic are back. I know this is a rush prod, but for toku club streaming service, you expect ryuki length.

I'd really thought it would be 30 minutes long.

As seems to be the consensus, fun but so short.

This was hilarious!! Very much more a parody than a serious spin-off. Brain's reactions and comments to the reconstruction by "Mu" were great. "Heisei is about to end, stop with the Showa stuff!"
Kamen Rider Brain looks pretty neat for a kitbash suit and it's always a pleasure to see legacy suits. It was short so I hope the next episodes are a little longer. Still, a really fun time! |

LMAO well that was short...
But a great time all the way through. The bulk of the special was in the second part. We start off with silly Brain trying out different Rider poses (including Ichigo, Black RX and his own famous meme) before Krimm look-a-like explains how he chose Brain to be a Rider cause he was the weakest returning villain, going against Brain's lofty expectations. Then he dies real fast and it's hard to get emotional but I take that it was supposed to be over-dramatic. Then we get cool Brain, the same from the beginning of the Drive series before he got meme-ified, giving a legitimately great speech about being bad guys to the dark Riders. The henshin was awesome and the fight was just hilarious. From his nasty poison attack, the handkerchief throw, the reuse of the Sunglasseslasher as the "Megane Blade" and Dark Ghost accusing him of ripping it off, and his fake-out Rider kick-turn-headbutt, this was a fight scene for the history books. Brain confronts Mu and wakes up in a digital world, where the data of Medic and Heart reside. They make fun of him, but Heart has a sudden realization - if they are in the midst of all data, how did the three of them end up together? And BOOM surprise Gou cameo. Looks like he's recompiling the data of the main four Roidmudes and creating something called the "Neo-Core Driviars" for use with Kamen Rider's (if ya'll remember, Core Driviars were armaments that Mashin Chaser used). Could this be teasing a Drive sequel? 5 years after movie? The Zi-O tribute episodes? Who knows! But more Drive is welcome by me. Last edited by Xtreme RX; 05-05-2019 at 02:31 AM.. |

I just got around to watching this, and I have to say, wow.
Ever since watching Kyoryuger I've had a massive level of respect for Riku Sanjo because of how insanely evident it is whenever you see something he writes how much fun he was having. Not to mention how much he clearly wants the viewer to be having that same level of fun. This is pretty much the epitome of that. Everything about this short but sweet slice of perfection is oozing with the giddiness of a guy who probably didn't think he was actually going to be asked to make an actual story with this concept. Brain's dialogue right at the start essentially admits as much. So what do you do when your joke sequel hook from a few years ago is suddenly supposed to be real? I don't know, but a Showa era throwback with loads of meta humor is a hugely entertaining concept, so who cares? It doesn't even matter how we got here. The point is, we've got a memorable character from an awesome show back starring in a dumb adventure that also has the audacity to end with an actual sequel hook, and I love it. They even take the old trope where cheapo Rider spinoffs have gangs of random bad guy suits for no reason and work it into a legitimate plot point, so the whole thing is in that perfect zone of being deliberately stupid yet also smarter than it has any right to be. I still don't know how the heck this thing got made, but man I am glad it did.

Yes, this was amazing, I enjoyed it a great deal. One could easily see it as an elaborate joke, because well it kinda is, but it wasn't just a parody. It was a love letter. The people behind this knew what they were doing, they did it because they wanted to, and they succeeded in crafting a small masterpiece.
It has literally everything a Rider show should have cramped into 20 minutes. The comedy is 100% on point; the action is great to watch and even the story has its moments. Like, the Banno flashback? I did not expect to see this at all. What a great way to tie it all together and give Brain a reason to fight Mu. And they end it by actually tying it into the Drive mythos which they didn’t have to, but they did it. One could be a bit miffed because writing your whole story off as a "dream" sequence kinda sorta stinks but hey, they can't take away the epicness that is Kamen Rider Brain from us. I hope this isn’t done yet, someday we need Kamen Rider Medic, and if it happens we need to have all three Riders, Heart, Brain and Medic fight together. Please let it happen one day. Please. |
