Finally got around to watching this "review", and wow... that was one REALLY whiny video. I'm not even going to bother with the comparison video, as the guy already made it very clear what he thinks of this compared to the BoJ version.
Seriously though, picking up the Megazord by it's lower legs and tilting it's body back causing the knees to bend isn't the same as it not being able to stand on it's own... It's definitely not perfect, but from what I've seen, I do prefer this to the original. Also, I think I'll be sticking to Bruno's reviews and the occasional ones Andre does. |

I don't know what Ninja Steel will be like but Ninninger was a really quirky, out there kind of show, and five totally unrelated things combining into a giant robot piloted by a smaller giant robot in its stomach communicates that perfectly. Shurikenjin isn't exactly what I would call "cool", but it's interesting and it's unique, and that wins it some points. I'd totally love to get a new Sentai robot that's a bit more traditional looking myself, but taken for what it is I think Shurikenjin clearly had some real effort put into its design. Note that what I just said is a different matter from it actually looking any good. That's entirely in the eye of the beholder, and I can totally empathize with people who can't dig what Shurikenjin is bringing to the table. This version isn't exactly doing its looks any favors, either.

I think my problem with the 'homaging various previous mecha" and cooky diversity approach is I can't help but see that as an afterthought. The legs being a train is clearly just because it's easy to make legs out of a train. The dump truck as the body is clearly just because they needed a hollow box zord for the seat gimmick. Etc. it doesn't seem like they picked series' to homage then came up with a robot. It seems like they picked the easiest shapes to suit their needs, then justified it with homage after the fact. Hell, the wolf does nothing at all for the combination. Usually the shitty little extra zord forms like a chest or helmet, not just on the leg.
I will say though, the dog zord on the US version is far superior to the Japanese version with actual, seperate legs and better proportions. It's adorable. |

Great news! The japanese toys are compatible with the BOA molds. Meaning you can fir the auxiliary zords in no problem:
And it doesnt seem it has any trouble standing. |

This would be funny if it wasn't so damned sad. Let's compare them to the recent Dino Charge toys, for example. They were made on a budget. But they weren't sacrificed for that budget. They're the best BoA release in years even, in my opinion. And then you have these. The wings not forming the shield is to be expected, the train being connected like that too. Because Zord Builder. Maru looks passable and the dog wasn't much to speak of in the BoJ release either. But that damn Dump Truck. Dump is right. The fist just having off the cockpit, the back.. oh my Gosei the back. It's like BoA let all the praise from the DC releases go to their heads and decided to take a year off.
I cannot wait to see how they screw up Bison. |

So, uhhh... kudos to Bruno for straight up breaking his zord on purpose. I guess that does confirm Balt's was a lemon, though. |

I get that that they don't look too nice, but it's weird to see complaints about BoA's plastic quality being cheap when they seem pretty clearly built to withstand being tossed around by children just fine. Try bonking Kyoryujin on the head with a pair of pliers like that and see what happens. Or don't because it's a horrible idea and will probably break the clips on the arms somehow. Judging by what few things I've bought personally the past few years and also from what I've seen, it's always seemed like durability is one of the few things you can't fault BoA's stuff for.

Yeah, people seem to confuse quality with physical touch.
Harder, more "high quality" plastic is actually far more likely to break than this supposed lower quality, but more flexible and robust, plastic. |

Also, I hold off on buying anything PR related till after I've seen at least some of the show the item is based on. Even if I wanted the BoJ version specifically, most Sentai-based toys are more expensive than what I'm willing to pay for them by the time the PR equivalent is airing. Make all the snide comments you what, he really isn't.
