I just bought Ultraman Orb bluray collection, and I see now in February that Mill Creek is releasing Ultraman Orb Origin Saga.
Are these two completely different stories that involve Orb? So it's worth it to own both? Or is just having the Orb collection enough? thankew. (I haven't watched Orb yet so am unfamiliar with the story. But I know it's well regarded) EDIT: ahh, reading more about it now I see it's a prequel to the Orb series. Ok that's cool, so it's something different. ___ also they're releasing The Return of Ultraman, which I'm super excited about. I've wanted to see that one for quite a while but never found good copies or a complete run with all episodes. https://www.kaijubattle.net/ultra-un...u-ray-releases Last edited by KaijuUltraFan; 11-21-2019 at 10:51 AM.. |

While I haven't finished Orb Origin Saga yet, I would highly recommend it because it feels so different, even compared to Orb series. It is like Tsuburaya is experimenting on different styles.
I would like to say nore but it is kinda spoilery because it involves other Ultraman.

The Origin Saga is an entirely different story on its own. I believe it was an original show created in collaboration with Amazon. There's this thing called the Ultraman Orb Chronicle, which was basically a ten-part history of Ultraman Orb that the show's writers came up with as background lore. Part 6 is the actual Ultraman Orb TV show. Origin Saga tells the story of Part 1.
And yup, Return of Ultraman is a fantastic show that every Ultra-fan should check out. The horrifying Nackle arc alone makes this a must-watch. I don't think it's as good as OG Ultraman, but I enjoyed it more than Seven, for what it's worth. Only downside is Jissoji never directed an episode of Return, though I think he wrote one. |

I still need to watch the last few episodes of Ultra Seven. I like Seven but I sort of lost interest and felt like the show wasn't really going anywhere.
I love toku shows but sometimes i feel like they run too long and lose steam and momentum. Sometimes the writing is so good i don't notice but then other times after 30-35 episodes im ready to call it quits and start feeling burnt out on the characters |

Seven got a little too repetitive after a while. It's always "Weird thing happens, ermahgerd it's an alien, never trust those creepy spacenoids!" It's also got a pretty depressive mood throughout. I always find it odd that fans generally tout Seven as being an improvement over the first series, when OG Ultraman felt far superior to me with its varied threats (kaijus, aliens, whatever Bullton was), and solid balance between dramatic/comedic episodes.
That said, you might as well finish Seven as I think the two-part finale is pretty strong. "The Greatest Invasion in History" featuring Pandon is a far more entertaining finale than OG Ultraman's "And then Zetton kills Ultraman!" Also, fun fact: Pandon was the last kaiju made by Eiji Tsuburaya. Last edited by Salaryman Zero; 11-24-2019 at 02:21 PM.. |
