Great, but neither of these particularly appeal to me. So, another month safe!
... Unless they announce Crystal Sailor Mercury for that month.

I spy with my creeper eye something that is not Kiva. While I really like these, I have to ask, where is Kiva? Was Kiva so unpopular that his series will not get anymore love?

The Shinkocchou Seihou page was updated, giving us a few more looks at Accel. His price was also revealed, it’s 6.480¥, same as W.
It seems like he comes with an alternate head where the detailing under his visor looks like it's lit up. Can’t read the text so I don’t know if the Accel memory is removable or if the Engine Blade can open. I have no idea, and I heard no real reason which would make sense during the other hundred times the topic came up. My only input on the matter is that it will happen one day, just to have a complete Rider line-up, but I have no idea when it will happen or why it takes them so long to do it. |

All we can do with regard to Kiva is speculate. I know I can't let go of my curiosity about the topic: it's unlikely that there's no reason.
I'm also curious as to Accel's alternate head will work. (If it is, in fact, alternate and not some kind of light-up feature. I can't yet read Japanese.) They worked from serious magic with the eyes on Decade in particular, so maybe they've got a brilliant solution here. Actually, what they haven't revealed about Accel may suggest a possibility about why we've heard nothing about Kiva: Bandai is probably still working out the logistics of cost-to-produce and accessories. If they wanted to do something with the fuestles the way they did with the W's Gaia Memories, that'd present a conundrum in terms of practicality, engineering, and a simple debate as to whether it's worth it. With W, I'm actually not sure it is, because as much as I like the Gaia Memories, on my copy, they fall out of the Driver for - as the saying goes - like, no reason. Bandai may still be deciding whether Accel's Engine Blade will open, or if the Memory will be removable, specifically based on the feedback - or just the practical results - of W. From what I've read here, the Driver Memory fit problem isn't universal, but it may be common enough to give Bandai pause. After all, Shinkocchou Seihou is something of a prestige line. I imagine they don't want to release something that doesn't fit the brand they're putting forth, with is essentially an "ultimate" version of the figure. I'll be buying Accel regardless. Hen... PATION! |

I doubt it’s an LED since Japan also writes it as "LED" so we would’ve noticed, and the price would’ve been higher I imagine. And since it would be the first figure in the line to have a light up gimmick they would’ve advertised the shit out of that feature!
I guess it’s just darker paint around and really bright blue tips for the lighter sections. And yeah, I have the same issues with W, so I wouldn’t be too angry if Accel’s Gaia Memory is glued in place. And I wouldn’t even bitch if the sword doesn’t open it’s just – I kinda expect it to with this sub line. It should be able to do that, there should be a tiny Engine Memory to stick into, that’s what they do with other figures too. But again, no deal breaker for me if the sword is one solid piece, I don’t plan on displaying him with an open sword anyways. |

Now that I'm looking closer at the figure, something seems off to me. I think it may be that the hands look a little larger than they ought to be, and maybe it's the angle, but the arms look a smidge too long. The waist seems slightly too narrow, although that could also be the angle at which these photos are taken.
To be fair, this is a drastic improvement on the original Figuarts Accel from what I've seen. I'm just a little surprised that it looks off to me, given that SS figures tend to look flawless to me. Am I being too critical? |

If you are a big fan of Accel then its not to surprising to be critical of a figure of him coming from a line trying to be as show accurate as they can be.

I think the perceived proportional issues come from the oddity of Accels costume. The chest and shoulders are large because of the armour, making his waist seem smaller. Likewise the thin silver strips on the arms, combined with the white background and black gloves may give the illusion of longer arms. Actually comparing where the fingertips come up on the thigh, they seem perfectly fine length wise.
