It's subbed. I don't think it was over time or tvn, but anyway I enjoyed the movie because of the characters. The plot is decent, but it's like 3 movies fuse in to one with additional foreshadowing sequel for like grease. Also, making evolut returning and not killing him like frieza endless cat and mouse game made the tv ending weak. I wasn't a big fan of the twist with misora's dad, vernage, and the summer movie tie in as well.
I appreciate build's mystery and effort to answer questions, but the more it tries to cop out with favorite character plot armor made the series less serious and enjoyable in dramatic moments like with grease and rogue. The additional myth/lore didnt enhance the series like we thought. It's like Star Wars where expectation is high and writers didnt pick the route we wanted to see. So evolt 's evolved form is his true form now. Where did grease and rogue get their drivers and hazard level back again? It's like how sento's dad can use sento creation and stronger version of build without much explanation. Last edited by VoidinToku; 03-11-2019 at 04:06 AM.. Reason: Subbed by genm corp |

I didn't think it was really bad. I didn't care for the main villain though. I did like his costumed/spider form, but he himself un-armored and the way he spoke was pretty annoying.
Evolts 'slide along the ground' sword attack was really cool. Cross Z Dragon Evolt forms finisher was AMAZING and totally worth watching the movie for. It's great seeing the gang together again though. It's neat how the first (10?) episodes of Build I really wasn't crazy about it, and by the end of the series it had become one of my favorites. |

I don't really like how it undoes a lot of the consequences and victories from Build's ending (everyone regaining their memories; Evolt still existing) for... less than satisfactory reasons that don't feel adequate enough to revert the status quo. I get the feeling - largely due to the new form - that they brought Evolt back to represent him as one side of the same coin Banjou is on, and in truth some of their scenes together are the strongest in the movie; but it ultimately doesn't culminate in much character development or interesting elements. Banjou's journey in the movie and his emotional core is about his growth from someone who just fought for himself and his friends to someone who fights for everyone; so scenes with Evolt are disjointed from the rest of the movie and become essentially irrelevant and unnecessary in that framing.
Which is a shame, because that would have been a fair bit more interesting. Because while I love the idea of someone growing into the idea they have to protect everyone rather than just what's personally close to them; which is a pretty mature message and one I think stands out a fair bit... we already had that journey for Banjou in Heisei Generations Final, and to be frank I think it's done a lot better there as he keeps running into Kamen Riders that embody these ideas. Dealing with the grief and consequences of his former actions is interesting on its own at least, but unfortunately that's not what's focused on -- it's all about how he's better now rather than taking responsibility for the mistakes of his past and trying to understand them. And it certainly is not enough to merit a very shoddy, generic romance which feels a lot like someone up top got in a panic about how some of us might see Sento and Banjou's relationship rather than a natural development between Banjou and this new character. This is essentially a movie where the main character learns nothing, and we're just told that he's already learned things; which we've already seen because I can't imagine many people watching this would not have watched Build beforehand. I want to say Killbas was at least a really cool part of the movie, but he straddles that line between so-weird-it's-cool and so-weird-it's-annoying a little too much for me. I like the concept and certainly some of the execution - it's really funny and creepy seeing Rabbit/Tank move like that - but ultimately I don't think it was done as well as it could have been. There's some nice fight coreography in this movie at least, and like I said the new Cross-Z form is fucking cool and the best Cross-Z form since the original imo, but aside from that this movie just feels very redundant and pointless at best and outright flying in the face of the series at worst. Also why and how are there three Sclash drivers, didn't the Genius bottle kinda get sacrificed in the old world, how are the Jellies and Crocodile Crack bottle here etc. I mean it's kinda feasible that Sento could have rebuilt them all; but he seemed preeeetty staunch in "this world doesn't need Kamen Riders" at the start of the movie. I'm fine with them being around, but not even lip service being paid to the how and why they're still around makes it a little distracting. pps come oooon let Utsumi be part of the squad. Meanies. He's earned it, let him be the fifth rider. Bring on Build New World: Mad Rogue Last edited by Kurona; 03-13-2019 at 12:50 PM.. |

I kind of rectify the after-movies by not thinking about them too deeply. I see the show as one thing and the after-movies as sort of being weird, 'What Ifs?',..and stuff like that.
too often the movies contradict the show so to enjoy them better I just,...watch them and take them as they are. So far I think the Fiaz movie has been my favorite Rider movie. (after The First and The Next which are my favorite Rider movies.) Last edited by KaijuUltraFan; 03-14-2019 at 09:40 AM.. |

TV-Nihon finally got this out, so after over half a year of waiting, I finally got to see how Build follows up its frustrating, mixed bag of an ending.
Turns out it was with another frustrating, mixed bag. I have to confess, ever since Build ended, it's been like a reverse Ex-Aid for me, where I adored it out of the gate, but the more I think back on it, it just keeps looking worse and worse for a million different reasons. I still love it to bits, don't get me wrong, but certain things about the writing bug the crap out of me even now. So this movie didn't help things, because it has just about every single one of the flaws later parts of Build had, to the point where I legitimately was wondering if it was from a different writer at first, but no, it turns out Shougo Mutou was simply continuing what I'm thoroughly convinced is a serious case of burnout from writing all these Build scripts. Kurona covered what's wrong with the story here really well already, so I'll just add that what really pushed me over the edge into not liking what was on the surface a fairly harmless, fun V-Cinema (I don't expect them all to be Specter good) had to do with the way everyone's memories are restored here. Not that it happened, I can live with that. It's sort of what I wanted, even, but once again, Build raises way more questions than it seems to think it is. You're seriously going to say "everyone who was experimented on" remembered their old lives, and then have the f***ing audacity to end the movie with Ryuuga getting a new girlfriend like we aren't forgetting someone here? I mean, I get that we already established Kasumi as being with Other Ryuuga, so obviously a story about that runs the risk of becoming rather... esoteric, to say the least. But that's my whole problem. Build constantly writes itself into corners like this, promptly stops giving a s***, and then just sits there praying the viewer won't stop to think about what's happening for five seconds. To add insult to injury, we also have another cosmic destruction monster in a Rider show casually let off the hook to go destroy other planets, a very specific scenario I was pretty sure I'd never have to complain about again, but here we are. It honestly felt like a personal attack. But yeah, I don't know about this one. I guess I was expecting something that would kind of redeem the aspects of Build's ending I didn't like, but it mostly just compounded the problems while also telling a way less engaging story than the finale itself did.

Despite my very lengthy criticisms; I always feel it's best to judge it by yourself. Art is all about your emotional resonance with it, so no-one can really tell you for definite how you'll feel about it.
Just my emotional resonance is that it's shit |
