Yeah, DVR and anyone who watches post airing do probably factor in for a lot of the viewing base, so the numbers might be skewed by a good portion...

Personally, I'm always of the opinion to just ignore ratings because they are ultimately meaningless and these days completely obsolete with the various forms of digital media. Also, it's WAY too early to stalk the ratings IMO. Give it about episode 10 before you start looking at that kind of stuff. |

But ratings aren't meaningless, not in the slightest.
Ratings dictate whether a show needs to be revamped from it's current direction. Ratings can decide whether or not a show gets that next season (Well, not for Sentai/KR, but for most other shows), whether it should get a movie or not. Ratings can't be disregarded. I will agree that it's too early to tell, though.

For Go-busters, I also heard Ace was popular, but I heard that the line as a whole was below expectations. Take a look: http://risingsuntokusatsu.com/?p=7817 For example, Kamen Rider made 31.5 billion yen compared to Super Sentai, which made only 9.5 billion yen. That meant that Kamen Rider, despite Fourze's lower ratings, sold 3 times more than Super Sentai!

Go-Busters didn't have a collectible gimmick did it? That's probably a huge factor in the poor sales. Even if the ratings stay poor the Kyoryuger sales will likely improve because of all the batteries and mecha.

Anyway, it seems Ace was the big seller, but the rest of the toyline under performed (Well, to be fair, Ace was pretty boss. Even with my apathy for GB, I still kind of want one ) Anyway, it seems the collectable gimmick is what sells. Ranger Keys, Medals, Switches. At least with Batteries there's something for Kyoryu (Since there's at least 36 not related to the show for the Sentai names in Gabutyra).

Well the only reason I am worried about this ratings thing is if they decide that, if ratings don't improve, they will not have Sentai for a year or so, which might help us American PR fns, since it might help us catch up to the what 3 year gap now?

not really, because if the toy sales are great meaning they love the show because most kids probably have their episodes on dvr because of the timeslot, i mean gobuster sales were bad meaning the kids didnt like gobusters, that's what their thinking is,
but if the ratings get extremely bad like 0.6 then i think toei will change their timeslot for kyoryuger. |

Ah. So the 4.4% that I remembered was for Go-Buster's finale.

It's kind of disappointing that collectible gimmicks sell so well because they, well, impose a lot of gimmicks on the show. Not that I mind them that much, but I do like to see a show where the gadgets and mecha were self-reliant instead of needing an external source. It's all Go-onger's fault! Still, if that's what it takes to sell, then go for it, I say.
