I'm not sure if episode 3 is subbed yet? But until that time, what I can say is that this is fantastic so far! It really gets that what makes Tokusatsu special is focusing as much on the real life as the superpowered or fantastical; and uses that to tell a very sweet story. The acting and directing as well is top notch, and I adore everything about Daishi's dream being to be an astronaut. I'm kind of in love, really!

High Speed Parahero GanDine is a Kamen Rider series Toei will never make. The protagonist is disabled and doesn't gain the ability to use his legs when transformed so he's on his wheelchair all the time, no toy gimmicks to exploit, and it doesn't drag its story just to fill a yearly quota. It's 3 episodes but at the length of 6 episodes if that sounds better, or a 2-hour film if that works for you. And it does feel like a film sliced to 3 parts and even follows an origin film format. It's not 3 episodes of Daishi being a superhero defeating monsters in each one. It's a slow build culminating to the expected final fight at full power. Other than 3, maybe 4, the characters didn't get much development so that's one of its weaknesses. Still, I did enjoy the concept even if felt a little underutilized. |

Episode 2 "Secrets"
Daishi has doubts over being a superhero. He has limits he knows he does and it frustrates him that there are some things he’ll never be able to do again which is understandable. Daishi values Fukai bluntness and honesty. And the advice she gives him is to at least try it to see if he can protect someone. Echoing that he is ready to try and protect people. Goo on the other hand knows Daishi will be fine they're forged a very quick friendship and Love how he comforts Gen about it just so warmly and endears him to his character. Speaking of Gen just wanting the best for Daishi, he is such a nice and kind father. And the whole bit with Rio grandmother is a treat. What can I say? I have a soft spot for endearing kooky wise old ladies in tv shows. The three engineers making a weaponized wheelchair are really cool and I suspect both Rio and her grandmother are actually from or at least descendants from the people of Planet Alert. Fukai and her rival's relationship is surprisingly healthy, all things considered which usually in the media , especially one focus on sports would be more dragged on . This is only 3 episodes long.
