Kamen Rider is a different story. Various shows have had various different subs and scrubs, partially BECAUSE of the reputation TVN has.

A new article posits the possibility of Kamen Rider being officially available in the West!
http://ukiyaseed.weebly.com/ukiyasee...h-america-soon Evidence in question is predicated largely on a Twitter response from a Toei Executive and Kamen Rider Producer in addition to Team Rider of Bluefin Brands being seen near SHOUT! Factory. The idea of the Riders returning to the West is one thing, but the idea of SHOUT! having them doesn't amuse me! SHOUT! was overly slow and simplistic with Sentai Series and didn't have enough in a set (such as corresponding Movies) to entice anyone. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad someone did something, but Mill Creek has shown themselves to be far more involved and dedicated with Ultraman than SHOUT! was with Sentai. Ultraman Movies and Side Specials are getting their own individualized releases! On top of that, I personally believe that the Riders could work again as an adaptation and that Hasbro should weave it into Power Rangers (like Saban originally did) and give Hasbro another property in which to create the big multiverse of properties which could give DC and Marvel/MCU a run for their money! |

Dear god no, keep kamen rider its own thing FAR away from the degenerate garbage that is power rangers. Keep it how it is and if you do bring it to the west, CHANGE NOTHING. America cannot be trusted to competently do this; they WILL butcher and dumb it down and remove everything unique and interesting about it just to squeeze a few extra bucks.
Seriously, I want kamen rider avaliable in the west, but I don't want americas greedy paws on it because they WILL screw it up. |

I’m in two minds over an adaption.
On one hand... Yeah, wholeheartedly agree with what’s just been said. As a franchise, power rangers for the most part is kind of depressing. On the other hand. No matter how bad it is I don’t have to care or watch, and instead I can walk into a shop and buy a decent figure of ghost or zero one or whoever for £10.

I mean I would love it if they imported the show by subbing...... Or dubs (if it's good, dubs can be good too, though a live action good dub is rare), but part of the reason why Kamen Rider is such a niche franchise is because people will see it as Power Rangers, and Power Rangers had a reputation for being a joke.
But yeah a legit Kamen Rider blu-ray would be a blast to own, especially with official english subs. Even though I live in Malaysia and they do sell KR DVDs here, it always felt like a chinese-licensed product instead of a legit one.

Just as an aside; if you like power rangers; thats okay. We are all different people with different tastes. There is nothing wrong with that. Just like there is nothing wrong with fish sandwich enjoying ghost. Like what you like my friends.
and hasbro, if you are reading this; I live within driving distance of your headquarters, you touch kamen rider and there will be problems. I will personally sneak into your building and rig speakers throughout the ventilation systems to just blast ONORE DECADO over and over at max volume. |

I don't recall Shout Factory ever doing adaptations of their own, so if they are involved, it's likely just subs they'd be doing, which I'd be fine with.
In the event that there ARE more American KR adaptations, it's really only a good thing in the long run. Like, yeah, I didn't like either Masked Rider nor Dragon Knight, but here's the thing. I never would've known Kamen Rider even existed if not for those shows, just like how 99% of us would never have known that Super Sentai was a thing without Power Rangers. So if nothing else, more US KR stuff will only increase awareness of the show, as well as the medium in general. And if you guys want this stuff to keep going, then treating the brand like some exclusive cool-kids-club isn't going to help anything. |
