Has it been mentioned here that the director of most if not all of this series will be directed by Kazuya Kamihoriuc, the Hazard, Magma, Be the One guy? I feel like that might be a factor in the reasons people like it despite expectations.

Kazuya Kamihoriuchi you son of a bitch you've just guaranteed that even if this ends up as bad as Jetman, Goseiger or Ninninger for me that your amazing skills as a director will keep me hooked. The mirrors in the cockpits, the rollcall's 'slash' effects, the triangular flame, MMMMM I've been craving this dude's work since Build ended!
The mech fight! The goddamn MECH fight! Kyuranger taught me that as impressive as the first one's may be, it may not be standard but this thing seems deliberately designed to be mobile meaning we might end up with Go-Buster tier mech fights, which is great! The soundtrack's impressed me with the simply wonderful opening and the cool track they played for the Reds fighting Tankjoh. Sure, they rushed and we didn't get too good of an idea of the characters but this first episode is a perfect appetizer, it leaves me wanting more already!

I liked almost everything about this episode, but I already know that the chomping sound is going to drive me nuts. Pink is super cute too.

I don't really know what I was expecting from this but that was a really good episode. To be honest, everything I wanted to say has already been said but I was still surprised at just one episode in that there have already been three major deaths. Not to mention that the fact that the mentors died episode 1 was kept under wraps rather well.
So yeah, looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Oof, if that henshin clip is anything to go by, this series has way too much ugly CGI. No thanks.

If past first episodes of Sentai shows had a "breakneck pace" then my neck is now broken at least 13 times. Like, damn.
That being said - this show annoys me a lot less than I feared. I kinda like it actually. At least enough to keep going. The action was executed very well, the sounds I need to get used to but the eye candy was definitely there. Characters are fine so far, although I do wish they would've written Kou a bit more... mature. The actor looks super serious and tough, so letting him act like a kid feels weird. Anyways, I laughed out loud once during this episode so the comedy get's an A+. "Mind Wiper" |

Pace wasn't great and we need some more characterisations but it's episode 1 so that's easily fixed.
Been a while since we've had pased-down powers. Ninninger I guess. Not so sure about Ui. Her being a massive fake is an interesting aspect, though I'm not sure how convincing she's supposed to be Not really liking the designs of the first two Druidons, but judging by that exposition there's quite a few more I was expecting the masters to die, but that was quick. I like that the piece-swapping is actually part of the mecha's power and not just how forms are made |

I gotta say, this is the first time in a long time that a first episode Sentai has got me this pumped. The action was great, the mech fight was fantastic, just saying a combined mecha be this mobile, using kicks and jumps, was a treat.
The memory erasing joke was the first time I ever laughed at a Sentai joke. It's like "You're supposed to wipe her memory, not kill her" |

Oh, I forgot to mention that I REALLY get Ultraman vibes from Kishiryuoh's fight, perhaps it's another attempt to freshen up the formula?
