I have a few gripes about this one. The way the cold opening went on for nearly a quarter of the total runtime ISN'T one of them, but I still find it strange how inconsistent this show is about where the OP goes.
More importantly, Koh watching TV with Tyramigo was begging to be SHOWN instead of simply being talked about, making this another frustrating example of chracter development in Ryusoulger occurring largely offscreen. That being said, Tyramigo was talking on Twitter before the show began, promotional stuff mentioned Koh being 209 years old, and Kishiryuoh's Fortress mode was right on the toy's box, so maybe they just wanted to establish all the stuff they hadn't gotten around to yet and move on. Whatever the case, I'm starting to get over complaining about this show, and none of these things bothered me enough to distract from what was another solid, frenetic episode of a series that's clearly starting to find its footing. One thing I appreciated was how the focus was split more or less evenly on all five main characters. There's more hint dropping about Bamba's backstory for when we finally hear it, Towa is actively trying to get everyone working together, Koh is moving the main plot forward, and even Melto and Asuna get a few moments in there. It was neat. This was also by far the most visually interesting episode since the second, which had me expecting to give credit to some lesser-known director, only to go look back at the credits and discover it was Koichi Sakamoto. So, you know, of course it was good.

Well I was kinda right and kinda wrong. The show pacing did kind of slow down now that the main concepts are out of the way. But boy did they waste that pacing on the wrong stuff.
The whole episode was just weird man. A lot of time is spent on action and showing off these great martial artist kids they managed to cast (which is legit awesome, by the way) while the guest(s) of the week get sidelined. The way they introduce them feels so sudden. And like, the musical stuff is seriously cringey. And if it wasn't just said outright, I would never believe Wizeru was the next commander. His debut was so boring. One thing I can say about this episode is that since it is so full of action, thankfully all of it is good. A quintessential Sakamoto episode - out-of-suit fights, lack of stock transformations, convincing stunt-doubles and great choreography. Oh, and eye-rolling use of "super-model" cinematography. I did like that Ui did something useful for the team this time around though. |

Does it feel like they skip an episode? The father shows no reaction to the fact that the people crashing at his place can do magic with swords that they are always carrying around and that he also has a tiny T-Rex that can talk now crashing at his place as well. Did they ever show a reaction? How the hell does Melto know about fortress mode?
If I actually care more about this show other than it being meh and something to watch on Mondays or Tuesdays, then I think I would be annoyed by now. |

And Asuna still shows no charm whatsoever.
What's her character again? Cute obtuse strong girl? The Actor doesn't convey that convincingly. She really needs a new hairdo too. The actor that plays the princess has a porn actress face too :| |

I seriously don't understand why people put Sakamoto on some pedestal, when his action scenes are boring now. It wouldn't be so bad when most of the episodes he directs are just fight scenes and fan service.
