I just find this series dull. It's moving too quickly for the nonstop stream of character introductions to have any weight, the characters we have are either annoying or bland as all hell, the villain scenes come and go so quickly that I honestly still have no idea what their agenda is, and the action leaves a lot to be desired despite 2 of the powers involving creating a giant beanstalk and portal generation.

I kinda liked this episode. My biggest problems are the problems I had with the first two episodes: the pacing and the acting. It felt like less was skipped over, but there were still places where the story jumped ahead faster than it should have (I'm especially thinking Saber and Blades suddenly in a monster fight after the opening credits). Similarly, I wish that I liked the big fight scene more, but the overuse of transformation and attack stock footage absolutely killed the pacing there, too. I get that it saves money and possible Covid exposure, but it's reaching R/B levels of over-use. Touma and Mei's actors really need to tone it down. I almost always hate comedic overacting in tokusatsu and these two are the worst examples we've had in quite some time. Mei is already on par with Shunpei for me in terms of being annoying. That's still sub-Onari, but it's still way up there. I am interested in the Rider Dad's story, but he's another case of over-selling the personality and I find it hard to sympathize with him much. |

OMGodzilla this series is boring AF so far, such a sheer departure from previous seasons,(Build,Ex-Aid,Amazons,Drive.Zi-O,a fun clusterf*ck,and Zero-One) it just turns me off with it's childish Sentai like feel, and the single most annoying side character since W's Akiko in Mei. Just UGH so far...I just expect more in a well established Toku show series like KR than this kiddie stuff...quickly becoming the new "Ghost" to me

After coming off of a high with Zero-One, there's something missing for me with Saber but for as fast as this series has gone so far, I feel it's only scratching the surface and it's going to slow burn into something. Not giving up on this yet.

people should calm down with Mei.
Im one of the guy who doesn't like Akiko, but Mei is kinda okay because her screentime isn't that much compared to akiko already. I can understand people not liking her making big-eyed faces but come on. it's episode 3 and we barely see her already. Ep1 I could understand the annoyance, she was here all along and screaming for 20min. Ep2 she kinda disappeared half way the episode so we can focus on Saber and Blades CGI fight Ep3 she made a remark about her eclair, then she explains to Ryo Touma is a novelist (and the scene isn't even about her really). the only scene she has is the one with the kid outside. After that she just say sorry and she's gone. How is 3 or 4min in a 20+min ep too much to the point of being damn annoying and they need to tone down ? I'm ready to bet people who dislike her the most have no problem with poppy screaming "dai pipupepo panic dayooooooo" occasionaly People should get used to it. The show will be cramped with characters (and male characters as far as we know) with the number of riders and vilain teased already. Mei will obviously have less screen time "thanks" to that as the show will progress, but in return her scenes will have her stand out at max level (for the kid to remember her among all the cool swordsmen) it's unavoidable. |

One possible scenario I got going on as to what happened 15 years ago is that Kento was being convinced by an unknown evil entity that was sealed and not to be talked ever again, Calibur found Kento in the nick of time and took whatever evil incantation instead of Kento becoming a villain. And that leading to the girl in Touma and Kento's childhood being swept by the vortex and the former Saber dying to keep Touma safe. Reason I am thinking this for now is that Kento is feeling guilty for Touma's memory loss and stuff. And yeah, Calibur must be either his dad, brother, teacher, or at the least some parental figure that looked after him.

That's gonna be interesting (provided it's executed well). |

The thing about Mei is that the initial setup of a character that is so curious and easily fascinated that it passes as bravery isn't even half-bad. In the first episode she was fine really.
It started going downhill fast though with that ludicrous stunt of her crashing the bicycle into the other world portal on purpose only to play damsel in distress later or how she goes outside with a kid this time only to turn her back on him immediately, leaving him alone for no real reason. All that combined with that super fake hyperactive acting and the character is already kinda done for me. I'm trying to stay optimistic but so far it isn’t paying off with this show. |
