So not looking to be a super short season, no not a 50+ plus but an acceptable length.

46 Episodes is fine. Honestly anywhere in the 40's is a good length.

It's also worth noting that he mentioned in an interview (early on, mind you) that he was finishing scripts for one episode per day, and if he's been able to keep that pace going for this long, he could be a bit closer to the 50s than we realize...
It's certainly gotta be a weight off the shoulders to have no more toy tie-ins to work in (although given what he had to work with, it was handled nicely). Nothing left to do but focus on the story. |

That's odd, the article I translation I read was that he had just finished the script of the final episode. I think Gaim would be perfect at 45 episodes. A series should run as long as the story needs to be, not based on tropes.

If I cry enough, will he write episodes forever and ever?

I just rather it not drag on for no real reason. Wizard was certainly longer than it needed to be.
Somewhere in the 40's should be a pretty good run. Not every show needs to go on for 50 episodes.

I actually can't think of a single forty/fifty episode toku series where I couldn't trim it down by like half the episodes and not lose out on anything. And so for a show as beautifully paced as Gaim, I'd hate for it to force itself to that mark resulting in spreading itself thin and padding it out.

We put it as news because there was a lot of speculation earlier that the series would end early - so much that it's feeling like a common-place "Oh yeah, Gaim is ending soon" tone around various circles. To know he's still writing and they're probably on episode 42 production-wise, shows the show will not suffer a "very short season" as first feared.
