I just looked up Ultraman Leo, and I don't think it's that. (I used the phrase "Ultraman-style" because it's a team that grows big and wrestles monsters, which is what I think of as Ultraman's defining toku feature.) What's in the magazine seems like some non-name brand toku, and the costumes are more armor-y? I think it's some minor show from the 70s/80s that just happened to get a DVD release in 2004.

I have a bewildered respect for Leo. It takes a lot of cojones to decide that “kids aren’t loving this show, let’s kill off 90% of the supporting cast, including the 5-year-old girl.”

The taglines for the Kamen Rider Blade pages:
The shackles called Rider System The Rouse Card, the essence of the system and culprit behind the fight The blade for protecting people The corpse of a warrior breaking down The instinct submerged within the green blood The one with otherworldly powers who bears a grudge against mankind The undead, power to riders or threat to humans Last edited by Sunred; 01-29-2021 at 04:40 PM.. |

I always love seeing Nirasawa's monster designs. I remember the first time I encountered his stuff in Amon: Apocalypse of the Devilman, and I really fell in love with his gangly, spiky, spiny creatures, and was really excited when he started working on Blade—and then I promptly didn't watch the show.

he has a real talent for these things, and I feel embarrassed that I have seen so little of the Heisei shows that he worked on, despite thinking of him so favourably. I should probably rectify this rather than living in the Showa era.
