Kendall creates a new Victory Charger that requires the core 5 Energems. But when Riley becomes Koda’s coach on the Amber Beach Earthquake baseball team, he has a hard time pulling himself away from the game to help the other Rangers.

Koda playing baseball.
Because we really wanted to use that sports monster. I swear, if they have Koda's team play against the monster and a team of Viviks, this will be my new favorite season. Screw RPM, screw Time Force, I want to see the Power Rangers play baseball against a team of monsters. It'd be even better if instead of Viviks, we had Wrench, Fury, Poisandra and the others playing. But.... Seriously, Koda playing baseball!?!? I'm definitely watching this episode when it airs just to see how they got into this mess. Also, love Ivan's lucky ram horn. We need more of that. This episode was a mixed bag for me. On one hand I loved the focus on Koda and the goofiness of a baseball episode, but on the other hand I absolutely hate what they did with Riley. That was a major shift in his character and came out of nowhere.
Not exactly a bad episode, but it definitely had some disapointing writing.

The "Amber Beach" stadium shot is clearly Comerica Park, home of the Tigers. It's about an hour away from me; I've been there several times.
Hope they took Koda for a Coney Dog afterwards. |

So, they didn't have the rangers play baseball against the villains, so my favorite season is still RPM.
Meh. It was still cool to see the Megazord wielding a baseball bat. |

The Kyoryuger episode had the Kyoryugers learning to play basketball to learn how to defeat the monster.
The Dino Supercharge episode had Koda pick up a magic bat from the monster that made him a superstar but it was really a bomb and the episode was almost more a Riley focus than a Koda focus, and the monster battle didn't make sense, just some "uhh, let's use Sentai footage to fill the gaps". Especially the Vivix training portion only to have Zandar Thunder ... I mean Gold Ranger Lightning Blast ... destroy them so easily. I appreciate the lesson(s) taught (ie: you can't live your dreams through other people, real skill comes from within) but unless you're 5 you probably don't care. Demographic strikes again.

A lot of things are better than the last show. Cheap plastic knockoffs are better than the last show.
Also, did anyone else wonder how Wrench knew about Koda playing Baseball? Does he keep up on sports news? Oh god, that's a funny mental image. Wrench watching sports center. |
