Black Panther is the best representation of what you want to see in a 'spandex' hero that is not Spider-Man. While I wanted the Rangers to have bits of armor like the 1995 movie, I would like to see them doing spandex.
But there is another problem: the Megazord. I know Hollywood hates practical effects and prefers CGI and mocaps every day, but I do want them to do the Megazord with practical effects. Ultraman and Ryusoulger proved you can do giant battles well, and in an ideal scenario the studios would seek help from Toei, Toho and Tsuburaya in crafting the Megazord scenes. Done right, people would praise and it could be a key selling point of the movie, but this is Hollywood. They want to be as safe as possible.

Michael Bay should NEVER come near a franchise with a devoted fanbase...ever again!
His directorial take on Transformers may make a bunch of money, but for the most part those movies are one-and-done...if even that! I want a director who will take the time to analyze the franchise and its material and someone who has a history of handling multiple genres to varying degrees of success. |
