I'm up to episode 20 of RPM. Still pretty good. It's been fun, barring that one horribly sexist line in episode 16 that just...??? I mean, whatever. I'm trying to get it to stop bothering me but it just blindsided me. I'm working through it.
The premise for episode 20 felt pretty contrived, anyway. The rangers kill monsters and save the city all the damn time, bringing medals into it at this point is...weird. Really goddamn weird. I mean yeah, Gem did beat that one monster solo, and that is impressive, but it still feels so random. Likewise, Scott acts like a real blockhead in this episode all around, it's also kind of weird. Doesn't feel like him, though then again he did acknowledge he was being stupid so eh. At least this episode gave Gem some good moments. Up to this point the twins have just felt too quirky and out there to really register as true characters, so seeing a more human side to Gem was nice. Hopefully Gemma gets something too. Hyperactive explosives enthusiasts isn't the most exciting characterization out there. |

Episode 21 of RPM was great. A Gemma and Flynn episode was pretty much all I wanted.
Episode 23 was pretty fun and interesting, actually. Though I do find it odd that in discussing how they make the show they didn't mention "oh yeah also we use a lot of footage from sentai?" Or suit actors at all (PR uses different suit actors, right?). Like, I thought that was gonna be the punchline at the end when they were watching all the footage they did and were going "hey yeah that's me." Thought someone was gonna drop a "wait i don't remember filming this." Oh well, I guess. Still pretty cool. |

RPM episode 27.
This one was weird. I feel like there was a lot of set up for the "Scott gets mind-controlled" plot for what ended up being pretty much literally no payoff. And Shifter met something of an unceremonious end. I mean yeah these latest episodes have been mainly about Tenaya, but still. Very busy episode, this. Also man, I can't stand this Kilobyte bastard. Dude's a creep. RPM is still pretty good overall. |

Started Dino Charge on Netflix. Pretty decent, pretty decent. I really don't have it in me to do a play by play for every episode, but it's worth watching, at the very least.

And now I've finished RPM.
It was good. This series had a lot of great characters, and a fairly good story. The tone is I think one of its strongest aspects. It had a serious story with serious stakes, but it never got into grimdark territory, which I really appreciated. It was a very fun show throughout, and the interactions between the team were always great. All in all a very well crafted show. It's definitely my favorite Power Rangers, and I'm not saying that just because it's the only one I've watched completely. Though I guess I am. Not that it was completely without flaws. I think the biggest one would be that while it had some characters that were very well developed and fleshed out, you also had like, the twins. There were definitely some characters that could have used more focus. I suppose it was inevitable, since RPM barely had some 30 episodes but still had a main cast of around 10 characters, but it's still a shame. Regardless, I guess, it still did a great job balancing the characters. It's not like I've watched a lot others, but I'm guessing this would be one of the last series one would bring up when talking about excessive red focus. But there's also the bad guys. I mean, the big bad Venjix was...I dunno, he was pretty bland. Just a vaguely evil AI and...that's pretty much all he was. Shifter was kind of interesting after his banishment, but as I mentioned a bit earlier he ended up getting knocked out prematurely in an unremarkable fashion. Crunch was never anything more than comic relief, which is not necessarily bad but not really good either. Kilobyte is the only general I think was really an interesting character. Sort of a love to hate type, though I mostly just hated him for being a bastard. Didn't dwell on the love a whole lot. While Tenaya...existed? I don't have a lot of opinions on Tenaya. Her and Dillon's story sort of hijacked much of the second half of the series, but it was just not as interesting as I would have liked. Her dilemmas were solved pretty quickly and it didn't end up mattering a lot in the end. As a whole the story was good, but she as a character isn't that intriguing to me. Anyway, pretty great show in any case. Man I want some figuarts... |

Suffered through episodes 10-27 of PR Turbo today. Good god this show is awful. The Carranger scenes, especially with the villain designs, just do not fit the tone of this show at all. I also can not stand how monotonous they turned Signalman into when they made him the Blue Centurion. They sucked out all bits of personality he had. The worst aspect though was changing the cast. It's bad enough they keep changing Divatox actors, but they just randomly out of the blue decide that their ranger cast need to leave and they don't even transition it well. They become rangers off screen and then we don't even see them be developed into their role, they're just perfect at it right from the get go. Not to mention Cassie never talks about her no longer moving to Stone Canyon and they act like they know who everyone is around them as if they have known them for years. It is so stupid. General Havok is pretty cool though, but everything that has been good in that arc is because of the Carranger footage. At least I have less than 20 episodes to go.

I think it's the worst PR season. I grew up on MF and OO so those have some redeemable characteristics, and haven't seen SS, Megaforce or SM so I can't comment. But I thought it was awful. And the irony is when Adam finally starts to break out of his shy shell of MMPR/Zeo, they remove him. Turbo2 at least did some things good, but by that time it was too late because Turbo1 was real bad. I started rewatching DT after 11 years, and it makes me filled with nostalgia and it's still as special as it was for me back then. |

I love Turbo. Probably the only series that doesn't get it's proper due.

I see the positives and negatives of each season, so I can see why you and other people liked Turbo. I mean I'll admit I liked a lot of Turbo2, but there were still some pieces that were a mess. But TJ is one of my favorite red rangers, and Cassie is one of my favorite Pink Rangers. I also do like Ashley, but not a big Carlos fan. I liked how they had a full season to themselves in In Space, but I'm in the minority that thinks IS is overrated, I mean it's still enjoyable and a good season, but I've seen better. |

I'm in the camp that thinks In Space is the best of the franchise. It concludes 7 years worth of story telling and does it in a big way.
Never really watched LSR-Wild Force though (nor have I seen JF and RPM), so when I finally watch them, my mind could change. Turbo though, my god this show is just terrible. Not only did it seem like they had no idea what to do with the rangers since they weren't in high school anymore, but they have clearly run out of things for Bulk and Skull to do. At this point it feels like they are in there because they are required to be so. |
