Sorry, I know some other people already proved you wrong but I can't wrap my head around the idea that Odagiri strongly disliking toku period reinforces your belief that Zi-O is bad because Odagiri didn't go on Zi-O. Wasn't Odagiri also the reason Decade had AU versions? If I remember correctly, Odagiri refused to be on Decade so they thought "Well shit we can't bring back all actors but Kuuga's can we?"

One who has never stated he dislikes Tokusatsu. There is nothing remotely the same between Odagiri refusing to come back, and Takeru Sato not coming back until now.

Odagiri's the only instance, as far as I can tell, of a past actor refusing to return to toku for all but one condition due to his dislike. Practically every other actor available has never had that same disdain and plenty of them have made it known that they'd love to come back if given the chance, with the reason some haven't so far being either schedule conflicts, agency conflicts or just no approaches yet.
Odagiri not wanting to come back still doesn't support anyone's thoughts on Zi-O's or Kamen Rider's current quality. He's refused coming back since Kuuga ended and using that fact to take a shot at Zi-O doesn't work. |

I thought the notion of Odagari not liking Toku was debunked awhile ago?
Edit: found the article in question http://tokusatsunetwork.com/2016/03/15074/ Last edited by Kiryu; 01-15-2019 at 01:33 AM.. |

It says like 5 or 6 times that Odagiri does not like toku even quoting directly something he said : Quote:
Even in the recent “Kaiju Radio” show, he stated openly, “I don’t like tokusatsu.”

Given the evidence above we can confirm certain things:
Does Odagiri dislike tokusatsu – TRUE Did Odagiri attend a Super Sentai audition – TRUE Does Odagiri dislike Kuuga – FALSE Does Odagiri get along with the other cast/crew – TRUE Did they purposely remove Kuuga from his profile to pretend it didn’t happen – FALSE Odagiri likes Kuuga but Odagiri dislike Toku. period. |

How hard is it for people to grasp that bad writing and production would reinforce one's dislike that one already has? "This show is bad? Well figures, such is what these shows are, thanks for reminding me why I don't like them." That one wouldn't like the better quality stuff either is irrelevant to the point.
Wasn't it revealed years ago that Yutaka Hirose (famed for playing many Sentai villains in the 80s and 90s) also had negative views of where the toku genre was going back in 2003, and that he only appeared in Agito as a favor for Toshiki Inoue? |

Well, either way, I'm not really sure I understand how Zi-O would be any better or any worse if Odagari was involved in some way, shape, or form.
Look at Mark Hamill, for example, the dude's stated multiple times that he's done playing the Joker, but how many times did he come back for the role? Or Harrison Ford; he hated being Han Solo but still came back for Force Awakens anyway. The point is: a bag of money big enough can make people do anything. And whether or not Odagari comes back for Zi-O does not impact the quality of the show in your eyes. So can we please move on from this discussion now? |
