This show takes place after B-Fighter Kabuto, it immediately followed it in the Metal Hero franchise, so yes the design bears a bit of resemblance to the B-Fighters. But that's mostly because it's the same type of beetle used as a basis for each design.

I have a lot of weird nostalgia for kabutack. I used to see toys (mainly bootlegs) of it all over when I would visit china, but i remember getting food poisoning in Shangai one summer and just marathoning it on tv. I never end up getting any of the toys, but theres a chinese toy line thats very heavily inspired by the kabutack stuff.

Nice gallery. It seems like a fun toy, but not something I will add to my collection.
This toy reminds me of Datas/Datas Hyper from Goseiger, as both have a cute cartoonish looking form and a more serious looking warrior form. I also get the feeling the Zabut and Drillut armors are more designed for the normal mode, as they seem to be a bit of an afterthought on the super mode, seeing as thee armor parts just hang on the side of the lower legs and hang under the lower arms, while it looks more natural on the normal mode. |

I don't suppose in all your travels you've ever come across the KO Tondemo Jaws have you? No official BOJ toy of it was ever produced but I actually have found photos of Kabutack KO's with pictures of a Tondemo Jaws toy on the packaging. But I've never been able to confirm if it physically exists outside those images.

I actually do like to think of myself as somewhat of an amateur expert on more obscure shows like this but I've never been able to find it for sale anywhere. Searched for years for it. I know it isn't large enough to stack up against DX Dodekabutack but I would love to have it represented in some form or fashion in my collection. My quest continues...
