after i sold my starninninger merch, my mom was talking to me about why do i buy toys and i was thinking the same thing, even though i bought toys every year and it hit me last night that it seem like it to me i didnt need the toys , meaning i was able to get through the series without the need for toys.
like for example, when i bought the gong changer (which i like)for gekiviolet, i was able to get through gekiranger not that i didnt like gekiranger, i was having problems getting through it, it's the same goseiger with goseiknight, i love the series but having problems getting through the story, if i didnt buy any toys, i probably would have stopped watching it. i think that was the issue with turbo and inspace, if i bought the toys i probably would have got through them. so has anyone felt the need to buy toys that you like to get through the stories on pr/sentai/kr? |

Nope. I am the worst fan ever. I never let my fandoms dictate my wallet, and thus, I barely have any kind of merchandise to show what I do like.

Sounds like the 25 minute toy commercial worked for you.
But seriously, it's fun to have the mecha in hand. But I enjoy the mecha for what it is, rather for what it represents on the show. Have been that way since I got Dynaman as a kid and didn't even know what Rangers were. |

I don't. I only buy toys when I really, really want them (And they're affordable).
I can generally get through a series, KR or Sentai, without owning a single figure.

Hm... nah. I watch Toku because I love Toku. Do certain designs or toys make me want to watch the show it's from? Sure. Hell, my first interest in Rider sparked because I saw a figure and really liked the design of it.
But I don’t need to buy stuff to enjoy a show; the show itself is what's important. And I only really buy Figuarts anyways because I love those figures, I generally don’t buy other stuff. There are exceptions, but I'm mostly interested in Figuarts, and only if I like the show it's from or the character it's portraying. I can skip a great looking figure if I don't know anything about the character or don't like the show, but I won't buy crappy looking ones just because I love a show. And I don’t need to buy stuff as a reason to continue watching Toku. |

Just means the 24 minute toy commercial is working. LOL!
For me, I always just enjoyed the toys for what they are, no media necessary. But much of that is because my first exposure was the Godaikin line of mecha that had little to no media attached to it in the U.S. Just super-cool gestalts to kick Transformer and GoBots asses. I wouldn't realize that Power Rangers was connected to those until like 10-15 years later. |

You've made this exact topic before. I've merged the two threads as proof of this.
In the future, please refer to your past threads instead of making a new one every time you want the same question answered. Making another thread on the subject isn't going to change people's answers on the same subject you seem to bring up every now and again. Last edited by Kiryu; 08-04-2016 at 11:22 PM.. |

What's amusing is that I had the exact same response to it four months later without realizing it. LOL!
