I also re-watch all three Devilman OVAs recently for the month of Halloween.
Devilman: The Birth and Demon Bird Sirène - They are both very faithful to the first two volumes of the manga expect for a few changes. The animation in them are very nice for titles that came out in the late 80's. I think they are both well-directed and they are a good way to introduced people to Devilman if they never read the manga before (Before CryBaby comes out if it follows the compete story). I think the first two OVAs in my opinion are very good. If you like horror anime or anime with blood & gore similar to Berserk, The Guyver or Hellsing. You will probably like it and you should check out the manga too. If you don't like those type of stuff than you are probably not going to enjoy them. Apocalypse of Devilman - This OVA is not link with the previous two and is alternate take on the last volume of the manga. This is my personal favorite of the Devilman anime because I love the character designs, the action and the atmosphere. The animation is really good for a title that came out in the year 2000. I like this take on the Devilman story and it adds a cool spin on a man fighting his inner demons. I also think Amon himself is a fun character and I love his design. This OVA is a lot of fun, but I would only recommended it for fans of the manga. This OVA has spoilers from the manga and I would recommend to read the manga first before watching this OVA.

Perfect Blue (1998) - Since we are close to Halloween, I re-watch Perfect Blue for the first time since 2008. I had not seen Perfect Blue since I was 17 in High School. I remember when the movie came out on VHS in 1999, but I never saw it as a kid at the time. So nearly a decade later, I still love the movie and I think it's a masterpiece. Probably one of the very few Giallo anime titles out there in my opinion.
The animation holds up really well with the large amount of detail and use of colors in the film. For a title came out in 1998, it still looks really good today. The animation really captures the tone of the movie. The best thing that I love about the animation is that the movement in the characters. The characters movements seem so life-like, it seems like reality. I really miss when we used to have animation like this in anime. The story is what I love about the movie the most. You really have a great cast of characters and every moment keeps you by surprise. Without spoiling anything, the movie will have you on the edge of your seat by from start to finish. I do think the dub is pretty good and the Japanese voice acting is solid. I think the movie can go either way with sub or dub, but I do think the sub is a bit better in my opinion. Kevin Seymour did a good job on the director on the voice acting. I think the biggest thing that will turn off newer viewers of this movie is that the movie is dated on how technology is used in the movie since the main character has no idea on how to use the Internet. The movie came out when the Internet was becoming a more mainstream thing compare to what it was in 1990 or 1992. Other than, I feel like there is nothing else wrong with this movie. Overall, Perfect Blue is still amazing and is still my #1 favorite anime movie of all time. Everything about this movie is fantastic (I didn't want to create a pun on using the word "Perfect"). If you love horror or psychological movies, give it a watch. I would also recommend this movie to fans of Hitchcock, Argento, Fulci and Lynch. It does bother me that this movie has no Blu-Ray release in the United States. It's a major classic and I feel like someone like Discotek Media or Sentai Filmworks would have pick it up by now. Heck, I feel like the movie is worth being pick up by Criterion. Sadly the old DVD release from Manga Entertainment is pretty old and it looks bad on newer TV's. I guess I would recommend importing the UK Blu-Ray release at the moment.

Myself going to rewatch Your Name since it has been released on DVD / Blu-Ray so would be good to see one of my favourite anime films of all time and one of the best films in 2016 in my opinion.

I finally started watching The Tatami Galaxy. Pretty amazing so far. Yuasa has failed to let me down because his work has been nearly perfect. I love Mind Game, Kaiba and Kemonozume. I have been a big fan of his work since I was a teenager in High School in the mid 2000's.
The anime that I have watched this year so far. I didn't watch much compare due to time and money. Perfect Blue (re watch) - Masterpiece Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor - Excellent Nausica of the Valley of the Wind (re watch) - Excellent Your Name - Excellent Bubblegum Crisis (re watch) - Very good Devilman OVAs (re watch) - Very good Record of Lodoss War OVA - Very good Silent Mobius Movie 1 (re watch) - Very good Silent Mobius 2 (re watch) - Very good Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie (re watch) - Very good 8 Man After (re watch) - Good A.D Police OVA (re watch) - Good Babel II OVA - Good Demon City Shinjuku (re watch) - Good Guy: Double Target - Good (It's pure trashy fun) KonoSuba - Good Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight - Good Spriggan - Good Angel Densetsu - Decent (I would stick with the manga for now) Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01 - Decent Bubblegum Crash - Meh I drop Tokyo Ghoul after 7 episodes and I thought the show sucked to be honest.

It's also the best film I've seen this year. So so good.

Yeah I plan on watching Night is Short, Walk on Girl soon. I also need to check out Ping Pong: The Animation which I hear great things about. Not to mention it's based on a manga from Taiyo Matsumoto (I love his work for Tekkonkinkreet).

I finish The Tatami Galaxy the other night and it was probably one of the best anime that I have ever seen. It's so amazing that I can't explain how good it is. This anime blew my mind and left an impact on me after it was over. After it was over, I wanted to watch it again.
I love the characters and the art style. We don't get many avant-garde anime these days, so seeing something experimental in this day of age is always nice. I have seen Masaaki Yuasa's other anime before we did The Tatami Galaxy and I feel like this is his best animated TV series yet next to Kemonozume (I do need to rewatch that anime as well since I have not seen since I was a teenager in High School back in 2007 when I was 16). The Tatami Galaxy masterpiece of storytelling, but not in the traditional sense. I love how each episode technically covers the same space of time with different situations from different sides of the main character. Each episode had me asking for more and more because I love how the story was told in the anime. Not to mention the themes of the main character going through college life is something that I also love about this anime. As a 26-year-old college student, I can feel through the stress that the main character has went through. He feels like his good amount of his life has been wasted, is trying to fit in with different social clubs and trying to find the perfect love one in life. It's almost like they try to put my life in someone's shoes because I have went through similar situation a s the main character in this anime. Overall, The Tatami Galaxy is amazing and I don't want to spoil anything else about this anime. This anime you have to see it to believe it. I feel like everyone should check out The Tatami Galaxy because it shows that you can create an intelligent anime without being obnoxious. It's too bad that we never got a home video release of The Tatami Galaxy in the US. I give The Tatami Galaxy a rare 10/10 rating. I don't think an anime has made an instantaneous impact on me since I saw Perfect Blue when I was a teenager in High School. Masaaki Yuasa is one of the very few people in the anime industry next to Makoto Shinkai that is making high art while the other popular anime directors are either retire or dead (Satoshi Kon and Osamu Dezaki) in my opinion.

Saw the 3d cgi Saint Seiya film again and though the cgi may not be Final Fantasy good it is enjoyable. Some of the reimagining could throw some people off but personally I had fun. The scenes when they equip their cloths has gone very tokusatsu though.
