So as far as Sentai and Ultra man goes I am quite experienced and have finished a multitude of series. As for Kamen Rider though I started watching during Drive and quit after 2 episodes. I did resume with ghost and have been enjoying EX-Aid. I have been wanting to check out older Kamen Rider shows but don't really know where to start. I tried watching black and thought it was cool but I was busy all the time with homework and couldn't finish it. I also heard Gaim was kind of a favorite among regulars. Any suggestions?

A great series well loved by everyone around the world is Kamen Rider Blade (Like, regardless of region, Blade gets love, and it's my all time favorite series!)
The first 2/3 of Hibiki is really creative and unique and really fun to watch! And, as you mentioned, Gaim is a rather popular series that many love for it's different approach to the franchise. Double and OOO also quite well received and popular series. Every series is someone's favorite, but here's my list of what may interest you: Double, Blade, OOO, and Gaim are all great shows all around. Den-O and Fourze are probably some of the more "Feel good" shows, so you can probably get a kick out of them, too. When it comes to Showa, I can't help. Amazon is pretty nice (From all 7 episodes I saw...), and I hear a lot of good things about Black.

For a new person, I would suggest W, Kabuto, or Fourze. They're all among my favorites and do a good job introducing various facets of the series. W in particular is my most suggested, but choose ones with an interesting concept to you.

I'm going to go ahead and pull out my usual line of "whatever looks good to you probably will be". Even the more distinctly below average shows have their qualities and their fans. If a premise or even something as minor as a suit appeals to you, I say go for it.
That being said, my go-to recommendations would probably be Agito or W/Double, though. The word that comes to mind to describe both of them is "solid", which makes them great introductory shows, not really being notably deficient in any areas. As for which out of the two you'd want, Agito is a little slower and more "slice of life", while Double is a lot more energetic and adventurous. Blade is a show I think is great but I'm hesitant to recommend it given its slightly rough opening (at least that's the popular opinion), and the TV-Nihon subtitles are pretty dang bad, and I'm not sure if anyone has come along and done a better job yet. Also, while I personally have major problems with a lot of Gaim, it's a really engaging show that's great at keeping the tension up and making you want to see the next episode. Pretty much built for marathon viewings.

Well, what kind of stuff do you like? Do you prefer action, suspense, mystery, sci-fi, horror, comedy - what's your preference? What are your fave Sentai / Ultra shows?

If you want to go more modern I'd say start with W - it's really accessible and fun. If you want to go a bit older I'd go with Black, which is an incredibly enjoyable straightforward action show.

I would highly suggest giving Drive more than just 2 episodes. I absolutely loved it.

W, OOO, Fourze, Gaim, Drive, Kabuto and Blade could be good starting points IMO, especially W

Ex-Aid is shaping up to be more of a multi-Rider affair than the last couple of years, so with that in mind I would suggest Ryuki and Gaim as shows to look at. Black is definitely worth watching if you want an older show. Quote:
So yeah, https://turnupscrubs.wordpress.com/ if you want to watch Blade. As you rightly point out, it has an iffy opening, but once you get beyond the first quarter of the show, it starts to take shape and is a pretty good show. |
