And now a look at the playable characters/Protagonists of Crimson and Cobalt, Mason and Cobie! Mason, the male protagonist, is based on a yankee/delinquent. Cobie, the female protagonist, is based on a preppy schoolgirl. Depending on who you choose, the opening sequence will be different- Mason, will have just woken up and be late to class at Pokémon Academy, he'll run over there, and find out that today is the day he'd be able to pick out his first Pokémon. Cobie, being preppy, will be talking to her friends in a different class, she will not hear the announcement that it's time to pick her Pokémon. It's not until your two rivals and Mason/Cobie (depending on who you pick) tell you that it's time to pick. Whichever starter you pick, your female rival will pick the one weaker to it, the male rival will pick the one stronger than it, and Mason/Cobie will pick the same starter as you. They will battle you throughout the game, with a variable team that will match yours. Hope you like them!

The sixth gym leader you'll encounter in the Reana Region is Acciaio. After beating Hierba, she'll give you a pass into Acciaio's gym. Once you arrive in Piccolo Villaggio Di Fabbriche, you'll notice that all but one building (excluding the Pokémon Center) are factories. The only building that isn't a factory is a nightclub. When you walk in, you'll find out it's the gym and Acciaio will ask why you are there when "The Organization" attacks. After you defeat them, Acciaio will announce that his turntable was destroyed and separated. He gives you the task of bringing him the pieces and fixing it to allow you to battle him. Defeating him will give you the Rave Badge and TM 74: Gyro Ball. When your battle is over, his dad will come in and scold him, while giving you something to help later in your journey: the Crimson Statue (Crimson Only) or the Cobalt Statue (Cobalt Only) Nationality: Italian Age: 21 Team: Nuclea (Steel/Poison, Female) LV 39- Moveset: Crunch, Explosion, Toxic Spikes, Gyro Ball Atocrane (Steel/Poison, Male) LV 39- Moveset: Shadow Ball, Gyro Ball, Venoshock, Earthquake Voluume (Steel, Male) LV39- Moveset: Hyper Voice, Flash Cannon, Earthquake, Gyro Ball Notable Personality quirks- Tries to act tough, but is actually quiet cowardly. Due to being raised in the Reana region rather than his native Italy, he speaks with a "Jersey-esque" accent. Quotes: (Before Battle) “Hey! Thanks for fixing my turntable, but sorry bro, now we got to battle!" (With his last Pokémon left) “The situation ain't looking so good!.” (After Battle) "Everything's broken! Aw man, my dad's gonna kill me!"

The seventh gym leader you'll encounter in the Reana Region is Combat. The tallest gym leader at 6'3", yet she is the second youngest. A huge fan of American Football, Combat styled her gym after a football field. In fact, when you first encounter her, her football team will be battling The Organization. Combat will commend you on helping her, but states that you'll need to go through the standard gym's rule to battle her. To get to her, you need to be able to fend off her football team. To do so, you'll need to battle 7 of her 11 football players, and use them against her and her reserves, by having them hold her other 7 off while you charge and battle her. Defeating her will give you the Jab Badge and TM 60: Drain Punch Nationality: French Age: 15 Team: Feint (Fighting/Steel, Male) LV 44- Moveset: Drain Punch, Sword Dance, Leaf Blade, Sky Uppercut Taeboss (Fighting, Male) LV 45- Moveset: Drain Punch, Comet Punch, Fire Punch, Sky Uppercut Taeblin (Fighting/Psychic, Female) LV47- Moveset: Aura Sphere, Drain Punch, Sky Uppercut, Rolling Kick Tacklope (Normal/Fighting, Male) LV49- Moveset: Aura Sphere, Drain Punch, Sky Uppercut, Touch Down Notable Personality quirks- Is a tomboy, yet will revert back into her fancy French behavior around cute things. Always has her eyes closed. Quotes: (Before Battle) “Bonjour mes amis! Oh screw it, let's battle!" (With her last Pokémon left) “Looks like it's time to go into over time!.” (After Battle) "Oh non, j'ai perdu!"

The eighth gym leader you'll encounter in the Reana Region is Alamat. Unlike the other gym leaders who were named after the type they use translated into their native languages, Alamat translated means "legend." Just like how Shuǐ is the Water Maiden and Hierba is the Grass Dancer, Alamat is the Dragon's Child- a child found within Dragon's Den born with the Dragon's Eye, an eye that can control various elements and keep natural disasters away from his city. When you approach Drakón City, you will be in the middle of a harsh storm. The other gym leaders (minus Geist, instead, his assistant will be there) will arrive and tell you that The Organization has kidnapped Alamat. Without him there, the city is doomed to be destroyed by the storm. You will need to travel throughout the Reana region to fight and finally get the hint that Alamat had been taken out of that city long enough for The Organization to search. When you return to Drakón City, you will encounter Apollo (leader of The Organization in Crimson) or Artemis (leader of The Organization in Cobalt) with Alamat. You'll battle him/her, and they'll leave Alamat behind. Alamat will refuse to battle you. If you capture "3 pure hearts," he'll allow you to challenge his gym. The 3 pure hearts are none other than Canst, Peptile, and Hydron- the 3 basic forms of the Dragons Alamat uses. When you bring them to him, he'll allow you to battle. His gym is modeled like a maze, you'll need to get through several areas while avoiding walls until you reach him. Defeating him will give you the Wyvern Badge and the new TM01- Draco Meteor. Nationality: Filipino Age: 19 Team: Behemoll (Fire/Dragon, Male) LV 55- Moveset: Crunch, Overheat, Draco Meteor, Earthquake Leviatan (Water/Dragon, Male) LV 55- Moveset: Ice Beam, Water Pulse, Draco Meteor, Hydropump Currelic (Electric/Dragon, Male) LV56- Moveset: Zap Cannon, Draco Meteor, Thunder Fang, Extremespeed Mysteen (Grass/Dragon, Male) LV57- Moveset: Wood Hammer, Draco Meteor, Aerial Ace, Dragon Pulse Notable Personality quirks- He's a bit wild, due to his upbringing. Through his Dragon's Eye, he can see into the heart of somebody, and will only allow someone to challenge him if they have enough determination. Quotes: (Before Battle) “Ah, welcome my friend. Thanks once again for saving me. But now, it's time to prove that your heart is true!" (With his last Pokémon left) “Amazing, but I still have Mysteen to count on.” (After Battle) "It's been a while since I've faced someone like you. I...I approve of you. Now, take my badge and challenge the Elite Four! I know you can do it!" Here’s some facts about why I chose the Pokémon for each gym leader: -Sähkö has a lightning bolt hairstyle, so each of her Pokémon has a lightning bolt pattern. Her streak in her hair is an inverse of her Rai-Der’s streak. Her gym also is a laboratory, needing a constant power source. What Pokémon eventually evolves into the “Battery Dragon Pokémon?” Chargle. -Mushi is a military fanatic. His Pokémon represent civilians (Androm and Thermite), soldiers (Androne and Therdrone), and the political leaders (Anitqueen and Miqueen.) -Shuǐ as the Water Maiden, is flashy and colorful, hence her shiny Filder. Her Ert (Water/Ground) represents the fact that although she has that important position, she’s still a down to Earth girl. Her Glalion represents the fact of how important she is. -Geist has his Pokémon represent the parts of his death- his Frentipede (Bug/Ghost) represents the person who betrayed him (a “Bug” in his system,) his Weazuko represents the fact that he was innocent yet killed for his social status, and Destile (who was based off of a living, never ending match) represents the fact that he’s bound to haunt his gym for eternity. -Hierba is represented in her Pokémon- her Pumpog represents her usual cold attitude, her Pland (the Shadow Dancer Pokémon) represents her free spirit when she dances, and her Bojan (based off of a Trojan horse) represents the fact that she hides her true emotions and intentions. -Acciaio is a part guy. What better team is there for him than two living disco balls (Nuclea and Atocrane) and a living sound system (Voluume) -Combat has her Pokémon represent different aspects of her gym- Feint (a fencing Pokémon) and Taeboss (a boxing Pokémon) are represented in her badge, Taeblin is her strong, feminine side, and Tacklope represents her love for football. -Alamat is the Dragon’s Child- born with the Dragon’s Eye, an eye that can control various elements and ward disasters away from his city. His Pokémon are based off of 3 monsters- Behemoth (Behemoll), Leviathan (Leviatan) and Ziz (Mysteen) and their placement in his team match his eye and represents what part of the Earth the monsters had domain over- Red (at the top of his eye) is Land (Behemoll), Blue (at the right part of his eye) is the Sea (Leviatan), the center is Yellow, the storm that occurs when the elements conflict (Currelic) and the left part of his eye is Green, the skies (Mysteen.)

The first of the Horoscope Pokémon, Kapricorn! These Pokémon are part of the Horoscope 12, 12 legendary Pokémon that tried to hold off Kratos and Athena back when they rampaged, only to become sealed into their smaller Sealed Forms. They can only be turned into their more powerful Supernova Forms when they are all captured. When brought together, they create the Horoscope Switch, a special cosmic button-like device that allows their owner to switch from their Sealed form into their Supernova Forms. Due to this, only one can exist per game, so they are unable to be traded between games if the one in that game is still in it. Kapricorn is the first one unleashed onto the world, being able to be captured before the Elite 4. As soon as you capture him, Akuarios' lair will reveal itself. Name: Kapricorn Type: Dragon Classification: First Horoscope Pokémon Ability: Star of Capricorn (Sealed Form, Kapricorn will be able to heal when it uses Water, Ground and Dragon type moves), Supernova (Supernova Form, when Kapricorn uses a Dragon Type Move, it has a 50% chance of healing him or being a 1-Hit KO.) Location: Tropic of Capricorn (Island near Isla De Las Rosas) Signature Move: Choshinsei (Dragon)- Kapricorn unleashes his full power, giving him the ability to damage a Pokémon team.

The second of the Horoscope Pokémon, Akuarios! After Kapricorn is captured, Akuarios' lair will be revealed- she is found in none other than Shuǐ's gym, underneath her shrine. After you go under Shuǐ's shrine, you'll find a large body of water filled with wild Pokémon. Surf your way through and you'll find Akuarios standing in the middle of a replica of Shuǐ's shrine. Name: Akuarios Type: Water Classification: Second Horoscope Pokémon Ability: Star of Aquarius (Sealed Form, Akuarios will be able to heal when its HP reaches less than half), Supernova (Supernova Form, when Akuarios uses a Water Type Move, it has a 50% chance of healing her or being a 1-Hit KO.) Location: Shrine of Akuarios (Underneath Shuǐ's gym in Jīliú City) Signature Move: Choshinsei (Water)- Akuarios causes a wave that heals her and swaps out her opponent while damaging it.

The third of the Horoscope Pokémon, Pisees! After Akuarios is captured, the lair of Pisees will be revealed. It's hidden in Tundra, in a cave that opens up. When you arrive at a door marked with the Pisces symbol, you'll need to bring Kapricorn and Akuarios with you to open the door. Afterwards, you'll find a PC in there, allowing you to swap out Pokémon if needed. Once you close the PC, Pisees will appear in a frozen fountain, which will start to flow again, thawing out Pisees and allowing you to battle and capture her. Name: Pisees Type: Ice Classification: Third Horoscope Pokémon Ability: Star of Pisces (Sealed Form, Pisees gains more evasiveness every turn, and increases her chances of freezing her opponents), Supernova (Supernova Form, when Pisees uses an Ice Type Move, it has a 50% chance of healing her or being a 1-Hit KO.) Location: Fountain of Pisees (Within a cave on Tundra) Signature Move: Choshinsei (Ice)- Pisees "swims" in a body of ice, instantly damaging and freezing her opponents.

The fourth Horoscope Pokémon, Airies! After Pisees is captured, the lair of Airies will be revealed. Airies resides in Hidden Alley; there, Acciaio Sr (Acciaio's dad) will come in and hand you the "Tracker," an item that will allow you to find Airies in the alley- you'll see it at the entrance and it'll run away. Using the "Tracker," you'll eventually corner Airies, allowing you to battle and capture it. Name: Airies Type: Ground Classification: Fourth Horoscope Pokémon Ability: Star of Airies (Sealed Form, Airies gains more speed, and is able to cause his opponents to fall asleep), Supernova (Supernova Form, when Airies uses a Ground Type Move, it has a 50% chance of healing her or being a 1-Hit KO.) Location: Airies Corner (A hidden area in Hidden Alley) Signature Move: Choshinsei (Ground)- Airies unleashes a powerful quake that causes his opponents to become damaged and fall asleep.
