Here's a quick review, since we're talking about reviews!
This is Build KumaTelevi, from the very excellent Hyper Battle Video short "Kamen Rider Build: Birth! KumaTelevi!! VS Kamen Rider Grease!" It's so excellent, it has four exclamation marks in its title. Four. Non-continuous. Anyway, this is the Build form exclusive to that story. If I never get a Televi-san figure, this is a solid second place. Like a lot of people would, probably, I grabbed this to make the shipping feel less awful on a Mandarake order. It's a tougher to find figure, but not so tough as to be prohibitively expensive. I think it was about $15, which is the same amount I paid for all 6 figures in the Build Series 4 wave. For that money, it's a pretty good figure? The legs are your basic Build legs, and the Kuma arm is the same one from the Panda half, but in gold and with no stickers. The Televi portion of the upper body is all-new (I think?), with a bunch of Build-logo stickers for the screens. If I'm being subjectively critical, it bugs me that there isn't a sticker with Televi-san's face on it. They're all just Build logos. One Televi sticker would've made this thing a five-star figure for me. Unfortunate oversight! As it is, it's a decent figure that's sort-of premium in finish (real nice gold paint on the Kuma parts), while not being as weird as I'd like. If you're a Build fan who remembers that story about toxic masculinity and a TV lady who lived on Sento's shoulder for a minute, don't miss out on this figure!!!!!

In this time of Coronavirus, the digital effects workshop finds itself scapped for cash, and has to make do with whatever they can find.

The new blog revealed the lineup for Shodo-X 10, Kabuto, Hyper Kabuto, Super-1 and his bike Blue Version.
Also they made pretty clear the last figure for AI 08 to be revealed next week is Ikazuchi. |

Damn it! Now Ikazuchi will be in the same boat as Thouser being in a set of figures I don’t want meaning I’ll get him months later.

Walking the path of heaven!
Cast Off! Last night's blog might not have had any So-Do news, but it sure did have some stuff for Shodo fans! Starting off the announcement of the 6-box Shodo-X 10; it's a revival of Kamen Rider Kabuto -- his first candy toy appearance in 3 years! Completely renewed and in-line with the recently revealed Shodo-O Hopper Bros, he comes with all three versions of his Kabuto Kunai Gun! Hyper Clock Up! But it wouldn't do to just have his base form, right? Kabuto Hyper Form makes its debut, joining the previously released Shodo-X 6 Agito Shining in Final Form glory! Coming packed with a ton of effect parts between his swords, his wings and his clocked up form; he looks phenomenally good! And since we're on a kick of space-faring riders... Super-1! Also revived from his previous Shodo VS release, a ton about this mold has been changed to make him play a lot better and a ton about his paint has been updated to look a lot nicer! But it just wouldn't be a space-themed rider without a ton of alternate stuff to put on his arms! Power Hand, Cold Hand, Electric Hand and Radar Hand (respectively) are all included within Shodo-X 10! And since this is a Shodo-X Showa Rider, you know what's coming next! Blue Version! This set's looking to be a very exciting one, so look forward to it! Aside from new Shodo-X news though, last night also took a closer look at the previously announced 9th wave -- with a bunch of Amazons! A fair bit of attention is given over to the glossy paintwork of the gloves and boots of these figures, as well as trying their absolute best to replicate the green pattern on Alpha's body. Alpha's blind Season 2 appearance is also within the set; but this alternate head is only packaged with Amazon himself, so you've gotta get the whole thing if you're a big Amazons fan! And talking of Amazon... Here he is in all his glory! This figure is where the blog goes into a little more detail; comparing his colouring to his previous Shodo-VS release and noting how they've added certain points of articulation, such as a pull-out hip joint that as you can see allows for a LOT more posing! And finally, he's got a pretty beautiful bike too! And while there's no direct So-Do news this time, we're promised at least two bits of news next week -- the start of Zero-One's AI09, and the final figure in AI08: a certain Thunderous presence... Apologise for not catching it last night as usual -- working a big shift today! Still working and boy is it a little inconvenient it happens to be on Sundays. I might have to start doing these in the mornings sometimes. Regardless, here's the blog with all the pictures as usual; so see you next week! http://bandaicandy.hateblo.jp/entry/20200531_rider

First off, big thanks as always to Kurona for bundling together all of the new Shodo and/or SO-DO news. I was slightly concerned at the implication that folks would want to be reminded of Amazons Season 2, but I'll just assume that's the result of the translation from Bandai's blog.
Second, here's some pics and a short-ish review of SO-DO Chronicle Masked Rider Kuuga Mighty Form! If you've done a few of the Zero-One kits, this process won't shock you. First box is going to have the base body and a couple three stickers for the belt: The other box is going to have a gigantic sticker sheet and a billion small pieces: It's not a terribly complicated construction or sticker application. The ankle stickers are by far the worst part, as they are practically microscopic, and they need to adhere to a raised surface. Pushing them down slides them around, so you'll be spending a little bit of time massaging them into the right place. Other than that, the negatives are few, but disappointing. The big one is that the forearm pieces are painted on a sprue, so there are two big black marks on each forearm on opposite sides. There is literally no way to avoid this, because of how they've been painted. Get used to them, or try and paint-match a solution. The other minor quibble is that, with the Kuuga boot print being a separate flat piece, you a) can't use the footpeg on the stand for Kuuga; and b) it looks a little like he's wearing platform shoes. Still, I think it's a solid enough piece. (That forearm thing is just this side of being a dealbreaker.) Tons of different hand options, great poseability, great paint apps on the non-forearm parts of the figure, and a fantastic head sculpt. If you keep a respectful distance, the flaws don't matter so much. Great shelf piece, maybe not one you're going to want to handle too closely.

Oof, yeah. Those forearm pegs do stick out really bad. Otherwise though it looks good; If I collected 4-inch scale stuff I'd totally nab it.

Yeah, those dots definitely suck. Rest of the figure looks pretty fantastic though!

I think with the way SO-DO is going, I might be dropping collecting them in favor of the Figurise. Mostly because I'm not confident they'll complete all 20 Heisei riders, but also because their availability makes them really prohibitive. I think SHODO-X will probably get all 20 first if at all?
A single SO-DO figure of two boxes for one figure can run you almost $20 after importing (less if you're willing to buy the whole wave obviously, but I hate doing that!) Meanwhile Figurerise kits can eventually be found for around $30 on Amazon US. I liked SO-DO a lot because they are small and sometimes the only way to get a figure for certain suits (like Ichigata!), but a lot of the throwback obscure stuff (like New Den-O) is becoming B-Pandai anway. Even though I paint and detail my SO-DO, it's very unfortunate to see Kuuga have such a shoddy paint application. |

I mostly like Sodo for forms and suits I really like but which are never getting larger figures or I don't wanna drop much money on; like SameBike or the Another Riders or Future Riders!
