Not gonna lie, for a brief moment I was very much invested in the thought of Zooous yeeting Mei right out of this show. I wish he did. Such a useless, annoying and terrible character. I get why they have her, a character bound in reality is needed as a counterpoint to all the fantasy swordsmen but I wish she wasn't so... ridiculous. Given we have the Ghost people at work here it's kind of understandable though, they only really know how to do the Onari-kind of comedic character apparently and Mei perfectly follows suit.
Anyways, at the moment I’m invested in two things happening: - Calibur's identity. Just because it's weird that they showed the actor before but still obscure his face now, and his voice is clearly Blood Stalk'ed too. - Daishinji / Slash, because I really like his character and how they're setting up his inevitable Rider-identity. The scene where he was sitting in the base, knowing he is needed by his fellow swordsmen but can't bring himself to join them was really good. Excellent tease with the weapon as well. Lastly, random thoughts: Did they drop the filter for the Wonder World portion or did they forget? Also, I very much enjoy the non-stock footage transformations, more of that please. |

So, just in case there was any doubt left, this episode marks what I'm sure will only be the first of many episodes written by Keiichi Hasegawa, meaning the entire trio of Ghost writers is assembled once again, as if Saber needed any more help making people who weren't fond of how that series came out worried. Look, he wrote a lot of great episodes of Double too, alright? It'll be fine!

I guess that's a possibility yeah.
Also spoiler pic for next week (that was not in the preview so be warned) : https://i.imgur.com/cAYzU5w.jpg Outside of the fact there are lot of jokes about "Hey he is a dad and Kamen Rider so he will die soon hehe", the actor is never present in the cast pictures posted on social medias. Megid member often post together, and Touma/Mei/Rintaro/Kento/Ren are often together too. But I never actually saw Ryo. oof. Hope it doesn't mean he is done filming already. And will they let the kid replace that Rider? Not impossible since AR Hibiki is also a kid. |

I feel Buster/Ryo may be the Kujo Kiriya of Saber unfortunately...

Thinking back on it, I find that scene when journeying to the desert of Avalon really funny because of just how trippy/early 2000's music video it feels, alongside seeing Calibur stumble around drunkenly as well.
Also just the fact that I was reminded how it looked very much like a Wizards of Waverly Place scene transition. |

I...
I think this has been my favorite episode so far? Water Lion is really growing on me, and the new suit looks great. Oh yeah Saber was doing a thing too. It was alright, I guess.

I'm not sure if King of Arthur is a power up form, or just a book.
We've yet to see a triple red Saber yet. So... did they break the typical power up rule by letting a secondary Rider get a full form first via Nagare? |

I am just glad that we have a blatant heteroseksual relationship again. Mai and Rintaro are such balanced pair too: calm person and chaotic person, but both are focused on their jobs.
Anyway, this series really do have a good way to balance all of the kamen riders. We're only at episode 7 and we already have a royal rumble of sort between Riders and Villains, amidst a story of soul searching and clues gathering. |

Yeah, this was a good one! Stylish, definitely playing sus with Calibur's identity, and doing a good job for all the Riders. Obviously, Rintaro gets the best showing (Nice for someone who isn't the primary Rider to get the first big combo), but Touma doesn't shy away from setting up next episode and also incentivising me to go read some King Arthur lore. Or maybe I'll just fill it with Holy Grail quotes.
"Let's not go to Avalon. 'Tis a silly place."

Something about this season just feels off to me. It's throwing a lot of plot, worldbuilding, character arcs, and gimmicks that I hardly feel like it has time to breath.
The suits and action are great as expected, but I guess I'm not buying into the series as a whole as much as others are around here. At least Rintaro has been pretty good so far, easily my favorite character of this show |
