In the Showa and Heisei Era, the Super Sentai Rangers/Warriors used their Shadow Clone Techniques, like what Haruka/Yellow Mask, Dime Tribe Knight Boi/TigerRanger, Sasuke/NinjaRed and Kouta Bitou/Hurricane Yellow did. Excluding here was Shun Namiki/MegaBlue. Why? Because NeziBlue of Jaden Sentai NeziRanger was confused about 5 MegaBlues and he'd thought it was Shun's "Mega Ninja" Trick. However, it was revealed that the Virtual Hologram/Holograph had made four other MegaRangers "changed" into 4 other MegaBlues so that NeziBlue would be defeated in that fight. Things were changed in the Reiwa Era. Here, Yodonna used her whip to divide Sena Hayami/KiramaiGreen into five Sena Hayamis/KiramaiGreens, as opposed to what the other Sentai Wariors do in the past. Oh, Toei. Why are the numbers shown on KiramaiGreen's forehead? To avoid confusion? Sena's no Ninja Warrior! She's a sprint runner! There ain't any in the previous Super Sentai Series. How I wished I wanna see the future hopefuls of the Super Sentai Series will definitely transformed themselves into their shadow clones ninja style rather than the enemy splitting them into several doppelgangers. Looking forward to 2021!

Enjoyable filler in disguise again. A lot of plot heavy and character development despite the sily preview from last week. Next week too. Yodon emperor was shorter than I expected. I was expected he's going to dwarf the mecha.

I wasn't totally sure where this one was going at first, but by the end I really loved pretty much everything it did, which is a lot of different things.
The titular plot thread surprised me by not ~exactly~ checking the usual box of a twisted moral, despite being an Arakawa episode. It's sort of a borderline case, I suppose; saying negative thoughts have their place is far from overplayed in media, but it's also not something that seems on the usual level of crazy I've come to expect from this show. Getting hung up on whether or not the message here fits nicely in some arbitrary box I've imagined completely neglects what matters, though, which is that it's still an extremely well done episode either way. It does everything it needs to. It gets to the premise right away, has some fun with Sena's split personality, and then quickly lands on a conclusion that can only be described as quite a mood. It's more straightforward than I'm used to Arakawa being on this show, yes, but if you think I'm going to say no to an episode of a toku show written by him where one of the heroes gets someone to realize the validity of their own existence on a beach, you're crazy. It's a heartwarming scene, and the lesson that being able to think pessimistically can itself be an important part of optimism is a good one. What the episode did on top of all that at the end was also surprising to me, but exactly the kind of thing I want to see at about this point in a Sentai. We can still do the episodic plots, but some strong indicators that the series is coming to a close soon are much appreciated, and beyond working in a second huge twist involving Yodonna, which is just straight flexing, Emperor Yodon's debut has the kind of massive 90's Sentai energy that could probably only come from a guy who wrote on basically all of those shows. The creepy voice; the huge scale; the sky ominously turning to night; all you need to do is put that scene in 4:3 and give it horrible picture quality and you could pass it off as genuinely being from that era. It's not really a particularly special or memorable debut, but it's so darn classic I loved it anyway. One thing that helps there is this episode's amazing direction, thanks to Ryuuta Tasaki, who I somehow didn't notice also directed the previous episode (as though I didn't like that one enough already). Really great little touches throughout, like the Hollywood action movie style slow-motion shot of the dejected Kiramagers taking in the gravity of their situation right after Garza leaves with Yodonna at the end, or how Sena's haste in using King Express Zabyun is emphasized by the combination stock footage literally being sped up. So when all is said and done, this turned out to be a pretty great episode of Kiramager, as usual, despite that tiny little bit of initial hesitation I felt at first. For some reason. Turns out I was worried for nothing!

I really should have seen it coming. Yodonna being part of Emperor Yodon. It's in her name already! I don't know how I missed that. Maybe I am over thinking things.
The other part of the episode about Sena being split into 5 was dealt with pretty quickly didn't it? Just smack them together and they combine back. Expected a little bit more out if it to be honest.

After such a mediocre and lackluster fillers in the past two weeks. This episodes brings it back. A filler in disguise like next week as well with garza vs silver along with silly motw comedy lurking in the bg. It really gave another layer of personality to sena. Yodon emperor seems to went the route of abaranger Rejewel. There are many toku tropes involving possession either by volunteering for forceful brainwash a host body to purposely sent a weaker "clone" version of themselves to combat as well as spy on the generals to create a more complex competitive dynamic. It's unknown if yodonna is a piece of yodon emperor or just created/corrupted/borrowed temporary host body. If yodonna is the left mask, I reckon the other general , the final general in magazine scan might be the right mask. Or it could be the witch's twin sister. They should of went all out in making yodon emperor the size of fiveman final boss, dark specter from in space, or serpentera size to shows its monstrosity. The moment it zoom far away , it ruins its epic intro given hes around the same size as the rest of the mecha. |

That was a fantastic reveal at the end there, proper main villain quality there as well in his overall attitude and the voice acting just hits the perfect notes.
And god damn does he have a good reason to be arrogant, gonna be a bit of a death counter this. |

I was surprised this episode came out as early as it did since I was expecting the usual New Year pre-emption but it turns out that's happening this weekend instead. With the confirmation that Zenkaiger premieres on the first Sunday of the month, instead of the second like Kiramager, that means my prediction of Kiramager having at least 46 episodes is no longer plausible.
And surprisingly, that disappointment ties in perfectly to the theme of this episode, about the danger of unfettered optimism. Feels like my Sh 5 is missing and I'm just the Sh 1234 doomed by my own enthusiasm for a show I enjoy. Which means this moral is actually something I think I should apply in real life, to prepare for the worst case scenario and bounce back with a Plan B. This episode couldn't have come at a better time for me. It's also a Sena focus episode which, just like every other Sena focus episode, is awesome and I just found my new favorite Kiramager episode. Splitting Sena in to 5 components of her personality allows me to appreciate each part of her for how they make her the unique character that she is. Especially in the case of Sena 5 since the plot is all about the question of whether or not she's actually needed to make Sena great and if she would actually be more perfect without her. This turns out to not be the case at all, since Sena 1234 is a total klutz even with Sena 3's logical component. Sena 5's negativity is actually quintessential to Sena's identity. Sayo has a secondary focus in this episode and it's the first time this dynamic has happened. Usually it's Juru who has the most insight in to people but he doesn't contest Sena 5's theory that she should be left out. He's weirdly unperceptive here but fortunately Sayo has her own Hirameking! moment. She sees that Sena 5 is the missing sparkle, citing Sena's admirable recovery after her first dish was unavailable. It's that respect from her and later Sena 1234 that allows Sena 5 to accept herself. The Yodon reveal was cool in its own right but I think it kind of just hijacks the more intriguing Sena plot which doesn't really get the conclusion it deserves. That's my only complaint about this episode and maybe things would've been different if the Zenkaiger staff could've just waited one more week. I mean, the Saber staff pushed their schedule back to accommodate Zero One but I suppose that's fair since Zero One was having some serious pacing problems towards the end while Kiramager was still at the starting line. Still, one less episode of Kiramager is something I lament since this is a great show. But to fit with the gemstone analogy, this show is a diamond in the rough and ultimately, I really appreciate the effort that both the staff and cast are putting in to polish it in to the best diamond it can be.
