The episode solidified Bamba as my favorite character from the show. There just seems more to his character than the others.
And I'm glad Wyzul is back too. He and Kreon make a funny team.

I wonder if any romantic partner growing old and dying is all they have to deal with, or if this also applies to children they potentially have.

This show just likes to hammer home the downsites of longevity, doesn't it? I don't mind, but for an otherwise fairly lighthearted series, they get pretty serious whenever they touch no that and this is the third episodes when that is a thing. Two of those in a row, to drive it further home.

Bamba is cool and everything, but honestly, at this point, I'm thoroughly rooting for the bad guys. You just can't compete with Wyzul's charisma, and after those last few episodes it's hard not to feel sympathy for Kreon.
Although that was a pretty decent twist at the end. Even if I'm not sure why that kid had a fifty year old photograph of his teacher. I mean, I get that it was to trick Canalo or whatever, and I guess he had time offscreen to go grab it, but it seems weird anyway. I think it's part of that problem Ryusoulger has with showing versus telling. The way a plot point like that normally plays out would involve a scene where we visually see the kid admit he lied or something, but even though he's the entire impetus for the plot, the episode completely forgets he exists once Bamba pulls out that shell, and then covers its tracks with a quick throwaway line of dialogue. It functions well enough, to be fair, but man, Ryusoulger has a habit of leaving me scratching my head when it comes to the way it's written.

This was simply a phenomenal episode. The filming location was fresh and exotic and the story had some great comedy, twists and dramatic pay-off.
First off, super glad to see Wyzil back since he's the funniest commander so far and his interactions with Kureon are great. I liked the gags with Mosarex (especially at the start when Canaro is distracted by the girl and he's left hanging), and the team and Tyramigo getting buried in the sand. Most notably, the interactions between Banba and Canaro seemed to hint at something. Banba could hear Mosarex... That's gotta lead somewhere. Also great set-up and pay-off with the teacher being Banba's ex. SpinoThunder was kinda humorous (one ugly combo though) and surprising that DimeVolcano is related to Mosarex. Been a while since we saw KishiryuOh TigerLance! |

It kinda makes sense though. We know from DimeVolcano's backstory that he was driven off by the ranger's ancestors. We also know that Mosa Rex was involved in a war with the water tribe where they and him were ALSO driven off by the ancestors. It's essentially the same origin. The only difference is that Dime Volcano ended up by himself feeling sorry for himself while Mosa Rex found friends, but has been nursing resentment for all these centuries.
But yeah, it's totally two different perspectives on the same past events which separated the two and led to them having different feelings about the whole thing. |
