I'm sorry, I disagree. I prefer the Matty one. He isn't perfect, but he is far closer to being anime accurate than the Toynami one.

I don't really see a sad face on him, but I will agree that Toynami's face is better. However, if it is a sad face, wouldn't you be sad to if your legacy had Voltron Force in it?
Of course, in all honestly, I bought this set for the pilots more than anything else. I am quite happy with my Blazing Sword Voltron because he is completely anime accurate and probably the only time I will ever see a single piece multiposseable Golion figure because I doubt Tamashii Nations will ever do one for their robot line. I just wish Mattel would at least do a BS Dairugger XV. Not sure what you mean by the legs though. Do you mean the lion legs? If so, I see nothing wrong with the way Mattel's is other than them being spring loaded. Hell, my Toynami Voltron cannot have his green and red legs bent any other way than the same way Mattel's version does because they scratch against his torso any other way.
