Yeah, but isn't it's primary theme more about nature or something?
It's akin to Megaranger being influenced by video games, but being rather obvious that it's a more generic "Technology" theme, with games being a very small part.

Though I'd argue that most primary sentai inspirations are subsumed by the generic sentai formula pretty quickly. |

I've only watched the first two episodes of Gingaman, so I probably need to watch more before I can comment in a more informed manner. It probably does have fantasy JRPG influences, but earlier in this thread I was referring more to JRPG job systems and explicit references to Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy than what Gingaman does.

I guess Ginga's JRPG influences are more aesthetic than mechanical. Still, not sure how you can watch the first two episodes and not think: huh, this looks a lot like Final Fantasy.

Gingaman definitely does give me a JRPG vibe, it feels like an adventure and the elemental attacks make me feel that. Zyuranger as well.

I'd like to see an office worker motif.
Now, before you start shaking your head, hear me out. Imagine you have a Ranger team that is fighting your usual kaiju monsters. There is also an insurance agency that has to assess the damage after the fight. After the fight in the first episode, several agents go out on the field...only to find that the Rangers appear to be dead or missing, leaving only their suits and helmets behind. So, in order to keep everyone believing there are Rangers to protect the city, they assume the suits themselves and try their best to take the mantle. Of course, they aren't very good at it and usually win more due to luck than skill. But they make do while trying to figure out what happened to the original Rangers...also while trying not to destroy the city they are responsible for cleaning up. |
