And this is why I stopped watching Build. Aside from the writing issues, Evolto's simply a boring villain.
Though I will say, neat finisher for Genius. Too bad it's basically Kiwami (all power usage) + Muteki (teleporting). Why can't we have more unique final form ideas? Don't get me wrong, I still like Genius- but I wish it were a bit different than the others... |

Having your main villain be a super smart genius who always wins is fun at first, but after forty episodes of Stark having not lost anything once and everything going his way no matter what happens, its starting to get boring. He was always treading the line between amusingly competent and annoyingly competent. The moment that Build killed himself and then it turned out Stark TOTALLY PLANNED FOR THAT FOR REAL was the moment I gave up on the show. Its such a terrible shock twist ending, and I was dreading it the entire time. Didn't help that the rest of that episode was terrible too. Basically, why should I watch the show if I already know that every episode is going to end with Stark winning and nothing else, besides new power-ups happening? New power ups that Stark totally planned for because he can see into the future I guess. Its not worth my time until the plot moves forward and Stark gets his ass kicked. EDIT: oh yeah him having no actual motivation besides being evil is really terrible writing as well. Don Armage has a better motivation than Stark does, and his is literally just being an embodiment of hatred. Last edited by Bionichute; 06-21-2018 at 11:19 PM.. |

Didn't Vernage however tell them specifically that Evolt's primary purpose is to find worlds with intellgence and destroy them completely? That just makes him either no better than a virus and no worse than Unicron.
Genius Form is definitely what Hyper Muteki Gamer was supposed to be. A solution to the virus/dna issue that is creating the problem. But Hyper Muteki was used in very limited forms, probably because either they needed to stretch out the story, or because it's so OP it would literally end the story right then. Genius also has the same issue. Evolt knows this which is why the pacing of their first meeting was so well done. He says "I'm not ready to fight you just yet". And so now we have the thread of the Lost Bottles being a thing. Is it cheating? Totally. Is it bad writing? Nah. Because the Lost Bottles are going to give the final piece of the Build equation. We know why Evolt is there. We know why Vernage ended up in Misora. We even know how Banjo and the rest ended up where they are. And it's confirmed that anyone exposed the day that Japan was divided by the Sky Wall was also mentally affected. Those death flags though for Grease....I'm in the 'should have done him in' camp. But only because it would have been a prime trope to throw into the mix.
