To those who don't watch wrestling, Face turn is basically a character who start off as a villainous character and antagonize
the heroes but halfway through the show or near at the end, the character become heroic and abandoned their villainous way to help the good guys. (You can includes Kamen Rider that did start off working with villainous organization before becoming a good guy as well) So which one have the best face turn and the one that doesn't feel "Forced"? Anyone who was brainwashed doesn't count since they're still heroic characters who were forced to do villain stuff by main villains. |

Necrom is the king of redemption arcs. Just hands down; he was easily the best part of Ghost when it was happening and it still sticks out in my memory.
The thing is, much as I love Rider; I don't think it actually does redemption arcs all that well. Kuroto never felt right, Para-DX just felt downright cruel to the guy, Rogue is bizarrely easy (The Gas Wore Off And I'm Nice Now), and the less said about Leangle's far too long the journey the better. Necrom though? He actually started learning to break out of his preconceived notions; he had a lot of tragedy surrounding him; and goddamn did he try to become better. His struggle with who he was before and who he should become was just a joy to watch

Not to stomp on the rare bit of love for Ghost I can find, but I won't have anyone go forgetting that crown is shared with another:

I'm going to go with the original here: Riderman. The first Kamen Rider character to have a proper plot arc, including strong motivation, conflicted loyalty, and a heroic sacrifice that was conveniently retconned off-screen.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with Chaser too. His path from obediently following the Roidmudes' orders, to starting to question if he was doing the right thing, to rediscovering the hero he was always meant to be and finally sacrificing himself to defeat Banno was just beautiful to watch. But I think he had an advantage in that his presence in the show was pretty much constant and he was usually treated as a serious character.
IMO, Necrom and Grease had redemption arcs that could've been as good as Chaser's, maybe even more meaningful since both serving the villains and eventually switching sides to the heroes were things they did entirely of their own free will, not because of programming. But they were held back by not being added to the cast until later, meaning they had less time for character development, and by how once they turned good they were mostly demoted to being comic relief, punching bags for the real villains, or what I like to call "mook cleanup duty." |

Unlike Grease who debut in Episode 18, Alain appear in first episode and he would have plenty of character development if weren't for the head writer who didn't put a lot of effort on the story. (I heard he's allegedly would regularly be absent within the construction of the series which lead other writers to pick up the pieces of the show) |

Yeah, Riderman is a good pick. He really brought a lot to V3 and helped cement it as my favorite Showa series. I guess Shadow Moon's another one I can think of to a lesser extent. He didn't really "redeem" himself but he had a moment of humanity before his death in BLACK RX.
Heisei-wise the Snake Orphnoch comes to mind. He starts off really douchey but as they reveal his backstory and develop the character, he became one of my favorites. I guess his redemption started when he turned his back on Kaiba. |

I kind didn't like Rogue-sama's eventual heel turn. It was like: "Oh, he's back to normal now that he's been exposed to nebula gas." But the ROGUE mini series really did it for me. His rise to power, his downfall, and all his struggles to obtain the Kamen Rider form gave light to him.
Hopefully, THOUSER's mini series does well too. Not so much as justify his actions, but maybe give another side to Gai. |
